almost every creation has moments that shine through that say “EXTERNAL FORCES WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS WRITING DECISION” but supernatural has SO many and they’re so open about them. bela died because people hated her. jo and ellen died because kripke didn’t want anyone else to write them after he left. the lisa plot happened because the cw found out at the last minute that actually they DIDN’T have rights to the cameo they wanted to do and cindy sampson was available. and cas undied because s7 tanked ratings. and on top of that they smash the 4th wall over and over. dean and sam swear in found footage but not on cw’s the supernatural. the author is god and he calls himself a hack on screen. the author is god and he writes shitty paperbacks with shirtless men on the cover and admits to writing for #drama and self indulgence rather than narrative cohesion. the author is god and he thinks it’s too tropey to be an author god self insert in his story but he does it anyway. when you can see the strings on the puppets do you ignore them or do you cut them? what gives a story meaning? the writer? or you?

angels are waves of celestial intent with true forms the size of the chrysler building with heads of lions and zebras but in heaven they are their vessels. why? because it’s easier to show. because there’s not the budget for massive cgi every time an angel is in heaven. the scenes are made to be viewed. and like. OBVIOUSLY. it’s a tv show scenes are going to be molded to be viewable. but there’s a disconnect between what’s shown and what has been stated as True and if you start picking at that seam then it unravels into the creative decisions of an author god who is not good at his job!
