his hair is SO red it feels like seeing "shrimp colours" as young people say
hai! :- ) feel free to ignore this if anything, but if you don't mind sharing — what's the 1st fic in this post? /metrorapide/816803810097889280/quality-check-of-my-otp-when-it-gets-to-that
so stoked to see you're into gundam now! and yea, I get how you feel abt the fandom
Hey!!
No problem at all, the fic is this one !
And yes! I've been meaning to watch it for years (as well as LOGH) because at my last job one of my older coworkers had multiple posters of gundam and models on his desk. It's not like it's a big deal since we work in animation but it made me start.
For now I've watched 0079 and Zeta (which were so good), and unfortunately I don't really like ZZ, but I'll keep watching to see if the rest of the series gets better!
And yeah, I've always been skittish of fandoms and had bad experiences so I like just chatting with my close friends about it. Makes me mad that it seems everyone misses the point of the original media so badly (not just gundam).
But yeah anyway!

Kōno Michisei - Self-Portrait (1917)
Kohno Michisei, seen here at twenty-two, presents himself in a pose modeled on Western Renaissance master Albrecht Durer's (1471-1528) self-portrait produced in 1500. Between 1914 and 1924 a remarkable quantity of high-quality portraiture was produced by Japanese artists who blended Western and East Asian painting traditions. While some of these painters had first-hand knowledge of Western painting, most, like Michisei, culled their images from books and magazines. The young artist was raised in an environment filled with powerful iconic images. His father was a portrait photographer, an artist in both Japanese and Western modes, and an active member of the Russian Orthodox Church. These influences are readily apparent in this self-portrait. Michisei's perceptive understanding of classic Western images was based on constant perusal of his father's extensive library; a portrait's potential for psychological and spiritual impact was impressed on him through exposure to religious icons used in the Orthodox liturgy. i know i'm way too old to care about shit like this, but so much vaguely liberal discourse is centered around preemptively celebrating a media property because it's going to anger some nebulous right wing bogeyman. "i'm excited for the new videogame because making you play as a woman is going to piss off the chuds." it's 2026. everything pisses off the chuds. how is this a fulfilling way to live. how are you wringing any amount of enjoyment from viewing the world this way.
okay here's what you're gonna do. you're gonna read the post saying "I do not believe in any god or higher power or spiritual plane." you're not gonna respond "actually there's god in everything if you just open your mind, there's god when I cook for my friends ❤️" or "yikes! what a sad way to see the world 😨" or "lol I assume the 'not' is a typo #religion tag" or anything involving the word "reddit." you are allowed to think those things! if you want! but ONLY as long as you follow the crucial last step: Continue Scrolling. you do not have to rebuke every post you see that expresses an idea that is counter to your belief system, and you do not need to make it your mission to "correct" people when they say they don't believe in any spirituality. this is what is generally referred to as "freedom of religion."
tonight I'll be watching the movie I've worked on, at the cinema, with the whole crew!! I haven't seen it finished, and there's a lot of apprehension about how a certain shot will look but anyway. It's the first movie I've worked on (as opposed to TV series) so I'm quite excited...
Not to brag but it was one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen...
