Another World Domination: 3 Isekai Anime That Make You Want to Move Dimension

1. Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!

Unfortunately sold off to a demon by his damn parents, who knew that it was the beginning of Iruma’s fortunate life.

Suzuki Iruma, a 14 years old boy bought by a demon, was adopted as the demon’s grandson and sent to a demon school in a demon world. Different from what he had imagined before, he was loved and well respected by the others. But, he then realized something: the others didn’t know that he was a human! Would his fortunate life end if he was found out?

This anime is hella funny and enjoyable. The MC, Iruma, was lucky af so that it made him somehow OP and respected by the demons. A fresh isekai anime to watch. You must try watching this one! 

2. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura)

Died from being stabbed on the street, a middle-aged man got a second chance of life. However, he was not given a new life as a human; he was reincarnated as a slime. A slime with ridiculously strong power that made him followed by many monsters! 

Tensura obviously is one of my favorite isekai anime and one of the anime I often rewatch since it is too fun to watch. Another top-tier isekai anime that must be included in your watching list.

3. Bofuri (I Don’t Wanna Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense)

Maple, a rookie player in VR game NewWorld Online, was clueless enough while playing the game. So, she ended up doing things the other players never ever thought of doing: eating monsters. That eating monsters thing made her OP and surprised the other players and even the game system itself.

It is a game-themed anime that offers you a light but exciting story to follow, especially for those who enjoy anime with many girl characters!

1. Ascendance of a Bookworm

A bookworm level+++ died and got reincarnated as an ordinary young girl living in medieval times. Having a dream to be able to read again (since at that time books were very expensive and only nobles could afford them), she had a journey of inventing products from her modern world, including producing books to read.

2. Hamefura (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom)

An otaku girl got reincarnated as a villainess of a game she used to play before she died. In order to avoid unwanted future of hers based on the game plot, she became a good girl and was nice to all of the main characters. But then there was a problem: they were all now too attached to her!

Whoop whoop! Where are my fellow fantasy-slice of life webtoon readers? Leveling Up, By Only Eating is here to fill you all. Let's dig in!

LUBOE serves us a story about Minhyuk, a young man suffered from bulimia (noo my babyㅠㅠ). In order to overcome it, he took a therapy by playing a VR alternative reality game where he went on journey and experiencing 'eating'. Yes, he could taste the food in the game as in reality!

*p.s. The bulimia Minhyuk suffered was different from the bulimia we usually know. According to the author, it was a disorder purposed for the story only. However, I still hope Minhyuk to be able to overcome the bulimiaㅠㅠ Minhyukie, hwaiting!!

🎬Horror Movies to Watch: The Wicker Man (1973) and Midsommar (2019)

1. The Wicker Man (1973)

Have you watched Midsommar?

Well, I can't deny the fact that Midsommar (2019) reminded me of this movie by Robin Hardy in 1973. The strongest reminders of all are the Pagan cult and summer festive within an isolated community. The Wicker Man offers beliefs and rituals of Celtic Paganism in a remote island where the islanders devote their lives to the 'Gods of nature'. 

This movie goes around a policeman, Neil, whom was described visiting a remote island of Summerisle to find a missing girl. Since the beginning of the movie, Neil had discovered strange things from the islanders. His discovery covered from strange gestures and attitude of the islanders to strange rituals done by them. Neil soon realized that he himself was trapped there with something hostile hid under Summerisle's sky.

What I can tell you more about The Wicker Man is that it was not as disturbing as Midsommar. The Wicker Man was more like a dark classic tale that you could feel while reading classic literature. This movie won at its simplicity of mysterious plot that would make you keep going through the whole movie.

2. Midsommar (2019)

Now let's move to one of the craziest movies in 2019, Midsommar. 

This movie is a horror masterpiece. It makes me want to erase my mind and watch it all over again. 

As what I’ve said before, Midsommar has a similarity to The Wicker Man (1973). They have the same foundation idea, which is about Pagan cult, but are different in the plot that turn out to be their own style and characteristic.

Midsommar tells about a group of friends—Dani, Christian, Mark, Josh, and Pelle—who had trip to a small remote village in Sweden called Hårga, since one of them was planning to do a research there.

The village looked so beautiful under the sun of summer that would shine almost the whole day. Things seemed normal there until that day came: the day when they witnessed something their eyes should not see. They also discovered that they were in the middle of a nine-day festival which occurred only once every 90 years; they realized they were not supposed to be there.

Midsommar is such a daytime nightmare. 95% of the movie was set at daytime, but it could creep you to the bones. It is also a movie of symbolism. The symbolism would also leave you in silent for thinking about it again and over again. I myself couldn't resist that I crave for more explanation of everything I’ve seen in the movie. But, I guess that was actually the point of this movie. It would leave you mesmerized by the unsolved puzzle. It wanted to trigger your own theory upon the movie.

For some people, this movie is disturbing. Besides the sacrificing things, the beliefs and practices were very uncommon. Thus, this brightly dark movie is only recommended for those who cherish new experience of enjoying horror movie that can pop up your senses.

Thus, below are my top 6 movies adapted from Stephen King's novels. The novels version are better tbh, but there's nothing wrong by giving a try to the movies version! Happy read-watch-ing!

1. Carrie (1976)

Carrie is the first novel by Stephen King, and also the first novel adapted into a movie. Oh, it is also the first novel by King that I read!

Carrie tells a story about a shy and bullied highschool girl named Carrie White whose mother was a religious fanatic. She secretly had a telekinesis but never planned to use it to harm people, until she was taken to a bloody prom.

2. The Shining (1980)

Who doesn't know The Shining? It is the most iconic horror movie based on King's novel.

The Shining itself was adapted into screen 3 years after  its novel publication. The story is about a man—Jack—who took a job as a winter caretaker at a hotel and brought up his family to settle there during the time. But, they were living isolated from the outside world due to a snowfall.

Time after time, Jack began to be influenced by the hotel's past and suffered a cabin fever. Not only that, the worst thing was he wanted to murder his family.

3. Christine (1983)

Christine is a unique-concepted horror story. It scares you on another level.

The story of Christine circles around a nerdy guy named Arnie who bought a Plymouth Fury named Christine. After owning Christine, Arnie became an attractive yet humorless and cynical guy. Arnie got everything that he was dreaming of until he realized that something was wrong. Something was really wrong; not with him, but with Christine.

4. Pet Sematary (1989)

Another King's brilliant idea. Another King's masterpiece. Pet Sematary will take you to the decision of choosing death.

Pet Sematary is about a man—Louis—with his little family who just moved into a new house. Not so long, Louis made friend with his neighbor—an old man named Jud—who then told him about the pet cemetery, an ancient burial ground, and resurrection of the dead.

5. IT (miniseries 1990; movie 2017)

IT by Stephen King was firstly altered into screen on 1990. It was not turned into screen movie, but was on TV. ABC TV aired IT on November 1990; it was divided into 2 episodes. The movie version of IT was finally made into theatrical in 2017. The movie itself was divided into two parts in which its second part is planning to be released in 2019. 

Both versions are okay, but I myself prefer the 1990 TV version so far. How about you?

IT's story goes around the lives of 7 friends who were haunted by an evil demon which posed as a child-killing clown. The story was divided into two eras: the teen era and the 30 years later when the gang reunited to stop the demon.

6. Misery (1990)

If the previous movies have something to do with supernatural being or phenomenon; this one deals with a physical one. This movie tells you that human beings can be frightening as well.

Misery takes you to the life of a writer named Paul who just had an accident, and been taken care by a lady named Annie. Nothing was wrong with Annie until Paul found out that she was obsessed. Really obsessed.

📺Series to Watch: Dark

Dark is a Netflix series released in 2017. This German-speaking-series tells about a time loop that connects the past, the present day, and the future. By the presence of mystery that occurs in the town in three different eras, a young man tries to solve the peculiar puzzle. This series is another series from Netflix that worth to watch. This is totally a recommendation.

Dark is planning to have its second season! I wish it would be released soon!

The story circles around the experience of a family who live in a haunted house. This full-of-souls series is totally worth to watch.

Dream a dreamy dream: 8 Dreamlicious Teen Movies From the 80s

The 80s is popular of its everything. It is the era where many people try to escape to; it is the era where most dreamers would rather be. Ok let’s stop here.

So, below is the list of my 8 favorite teen movies that can drive you away to the clouds of your mind of the 80s. There are actually more than 8 movies, but I make it 8 to beautify the number: 80s, 8, something like that lol. You can try them if you haven’t. If you have, watch them again, enjoy!

1. The Outsiders (1983)

As you can see in the picture, this movie is about those bunch of guys. I can tell you, they all are so fine, really fine. I wish I were their buddy.

The story of The Outsiders circles around the sweet yet annoying friendship of 7 boys who lived in working class neighborhood. They were always being underestimated and got bad blood with their opposites, the ones who were the upper class. Both squads often got into a fight until on one night, someone was dead, and it was the beginning of the change of everything in their lives. 

I DO recommend you to watch this movie and God bless you for meeting the outsiders. I bet you’ll like it, oh wait, you’ll LOVE it.

2. Back to the Future (1985)

Marty was such a lucky guy, that’s what I thought until I found out his problem. 

Marty was a high school student who made friend with a mad scientist, Dr. Brown. In order to save Dr. Brown from a dangerous incident, Marty rode Dr. Brown’s car-shaped time machine and jumped into the year of 1965 where his parents were at his age! Marty met his 65s father, mother, and Dr. Brown. 

It was a confusing meeting for Marty, what a lucky yet poor little guy. Lets watch the movie and witness him going back to the future.

3. Secret Admirer (1985)

Teen romance movie is kind of joyful, sad, and funny at once. The story of this movie is actually a little bit classic. It tells you about a guy who had a girl best friend. This guy named Michael and his girl best friend named Toni. One day, Toni wrote a love letter for Michael, but she did not write her name on the letter since she knew that Michael did not love her as she loved Michael, they were only best friends. Michael thought the letter was from his crush, Debbie. So, he started to write letters for Debbie in return by the help of Toni.

Sounds complicated enough to you? Watch the movie and free your mind with this sweet teen rom-com.

4. Just One of the Guys (1985)

Have you ever watched the movie of ‘She’s the Man’ starring Amanda Bynes? That movie has similar concept to this one, but I can tell you, this is so much more interesting. The girl-guy is so much hotter; she really looks like a guy. I think she is the best girl ever played a role disguised as a guy in gender-switch-themed movies. 

The story tells about Terri Griffith, a popular and hot high school girl who was really into writing school articles. She was really disappointed when her article did not win a school article writing contest. She thought it was caused by a gender issue. Because of it, she enrolled temporary in a new high school as a guy because she wanted to win a writing contest. By the help of her younger brother, Buddy, she learnt how to be a guy. Things got more complicated when Terri had to deal with a girl who fell for her and a boy whom she fell for. 

*p.s. Terri, you are hotter when you are a guy. 

Watch this movie and fall in love with the guy Terri!

5. Stand By Me (1986)

This movie is absolutely my ultimate F A V O R I T E; it is top of the top. I watch it like every year because it is such a beautiful movie. Their friendship and life struggles bond them up. 

The movie is about four little pals: Gordie, Chris, Teddy, and Vern, who all of them came from different backgrounds of family. Gordie was the invisible son; then there was Chris the bad kid, Teddy the free-spirited joker, and Vern the silly and shy kid. They shared their life stories and open up to each other along their little adventure looking for a dead body of a missing kid. 

I can’t tell you more than this because if I do, I’ll end up making it into Stand By Me special review.

6. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

Who does not love day off? Ferris will take you the whole day to his little day off journey away from school to the street of Chicago. Riding a ferrari, feeling the wind, being a teenager, and the most important is having a day off from school! 

This movie circles around Ferris Bueller, a typical trouble maker kiddo who faked his sickness in order to get a day off. He asked his friend for having a little journey before graduation and also asked him to kidnap his girlfriend from school to join the journey.

Let’s take ride with Ferris and his friend, oh and don’t forget his girlfriend.

7. Can’t Buy Me Love (1987)

Popularity is something that is demanded by many people. Whether it is in reality or movies, popularity is popular. 

For Ronald, popularity was important. Ronald was just an ordinary nerd guy, not many people realized that he existed. Otherwise, for his neighbor, Cindy, all eyes were on her. She was the popular girl at school; she was the cheerleader.

Can you guess what happened next? Let me spill the tea, Ronald paid Cindy to be his fake girlfriend in order to get him popular. I think you can really guess what happened next to them. Cindy fell in love with Ronald in the real life. But, did Ronald love Cindy or popularity? Go watch this movie and see the price Ronald must pay.

8. Heathers (1988)

Heathers is the blackest comedy movie ever made. Yet, I still find it interesting and funny. 

The movie is about Veronica who was kind of joining a clique led by the Heathers, the popular girls. But, deep inside, Veronica hated them; she did not even understand why she joined Heathers and became their ‘friends’. One day, Veronica was seduced by a mysterious guy, JD, and that moment changed her life completely. There was something wrong with JD, something really wrong. 

What is wrong with JD? Lets accompany Veronica in living her confusing little life.

1. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

The classic one; it is not about lady in white or any other kinds of ghost that you see in Insidious or The Conjuring. Tt is something different; it is about the people and what they believe. 

Rosemary's Baby is about a married young couple, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse, who just moved into an apartment in New York. Everything was weird ever since they moved in. Things then even became worse when Rosemary got pregnant.

This movie will make you think all the time about what is actually happening to this lady. Is there something wrong with Rosemary, or is it the people around her? Don't play guessing. You had netter watch it so that you can find out the truth, meeting Rosemary, and her baby. Thank u, next.

2. The Exorcist (1973)

I bet some of you ever heard about this one. Yup, The Exorcist has always been listed as one of the scariest horror movies ever made, and I couldn't agree more with it. This movie is totally amazing and scary in its own way. Possessed-themed horror movies gained high popularity through this movie.

A twelve-year-old girl, Regan, was possessed and 'destroyed' from the inside and outside by demonic spirits. She tortured herself and the people around her.

What more can I say? When it comes to demonic forces, God's servants are the answer. God bless you!

3. The Sixth Sense (1999)

If there is a person telling you that she or he can see ghost, what are you gonna say ?

The same thing happened to this little buddy, Cole. He could see the dead people and even talked to them. It was so annoying for Cole because some of them did not know that they were dead. Nobody believed him, but there was this psychologist man, dr. Crowe. He was concerned about Cole’s behavior and wanted to help him.  Cole had a secret he never told to anyone, including dr. Crowe.

What secret did Cole have? I suggest you to watch this movie and don’t forget to stick with Cole's secret and also dr. Crowe.

4. The Blair Witch Project (1999)

Fan of found footage horror movies such as paranormal activity? Have you ever watched this one? If no, then you have to. This movie is the pioneer of found footage horror movies, I supposse.

It is about three filmmaker students who had a project to reveal the legend of Blair Witch in Maryland. They went there, headed to the woods, and never came back. They were vanished without a trace. Oh wait, there was a trace: their camera was found.

Grab something to bite while watching this movie and be the witness of the their disappearance.

5. The Others (2001)

I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH. I want to put it on top but I make the list based on the year, No. 4 from the early 2000s, The Others.

The ending of the movie was totally twisting me up; it was clever.

The Others tells us a story about a family in the World War era who lived in a foggy place far away from the crowd. The mother, Grace, was a strict woman who did not like noises. Her two children, Anne and Nicholas, were bizzarely allergic to the sun light. Her husband, Charles, was fighting in the war. Things got messed up when Grace’s housekeepers suddenly disappeared and the new housekeepers arrived. Anne and Nicholas said that there were “the others” in their house. But, what did the others mean? Who were they actually? 

Don’t be too early to jump in your conclusion. Go watch the movie and say hi to 'the others'.

6. Insidious (2010)

Before the popularity of The Conjuring and Annabelle spread across the globe in the 2010s, there is Insidious. The travel to the world beyond our world becomes the popular topic to talk about. Yup, that is my favorite part of the movie: seeing the world of the dead beyond ours.

The movie is about a boy, Dalton, who suddenly did not wake up from his sleep. He was not dead, but he was in 'coma': his spirit was trapped in the other world. The only way to save him was going to the other world itself.

Seriously, the music and make up for this movie is superb! So, why don’t you try to dive in the 'further' and find Dalton?

7. The Conjuring (2013)

This movie is a total recommendation. I think it is popular, so I won’t say much about it. Everything in The Conjuring now becomes spin-off. Let’s say Annabelle and The Nun. But, none of them is as great as The Conjuring. It is not only about the scary make up, sound, or jumpscares, but it is also about the story line and the scary atmosphere of the movie.

The movie goes around a family who just moved in to a new house (I know it sounds classic). Since the first day of their settlement, strange things happened. All clocks stopped at 3 am, weird noises, and even the appearance of the entity.

What did actually exist in their new house? Go watch the movie and join them finding out.

Let’s Blow the Blowing: 8 Movies That Can Boom Your Mind

Have you ever watched a movie and then wondered what actually happened there? Well, this thing hits me few times. I don’t know whether there's something wrong with my brain or it is the movie which actually stupid. Thus, I’ve found movies that are not stupid but it's just me smh.

Here below, I’ve listed 8 movies that kept my mind wandering around while I was watching them. Actually there are more than 8, but they are my top recommended movies for you.

1. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

A superb treasure for crime genre lovers and any movie-genre lovers. The Silence of the Lambs is absolutely stunning. I do really love the suspense created from the beginning to the end of the story.

The story is about a young FBI cadet who was given duty to interview a cannibal serial killer in order to gain information about a now-wanted serial killer who skined his victims.

2. Se7en (1995)

Another treasure for crime genre lovers or maybe it can turn people into crime genre lovers. Se7en is an interesting movie which gives ‘fresh idea’ for the crime motive.

It is about two detectives who were hunting for a serial killer. The serial killer committed murder based on The Deadly Seven Sins.

That what makes this movie is interestingly interesting.

3. The Butterfly Effect (2004)

This time is not about crime, but it plays with psychological and supernatural phenomena. It mixes science and something that can not be easily accepted by our brain.

The Butterfly Effect tells us a story about a man who was suffering from his trauma. However, he somehow could travel to his past several times and change his life. Different action that he took in the past caused different life to his present days.

4. Shutter Island (2010)

This is the movie that kept guessing and guessing about the plot and ending. There were so many questions I’d like to ask while watching it.

Shutter Island tells us about a U.S Marshal officer who went to a hospital for criminal insane in a remote island called Shutter Island. He tried to uncover the ‘strange’ things happened there. Shockingly, he uncovered something worse about the hospital that turned back his mind and OUR MIND.

5. Gone Girl (2014)

A FAB surprising plot. I feel like being turned upside down by it. Another amazing thoughts poured into a story.

Gone Girl is about a man who tried to find his missing wife. He was being confused by the things that indicated him had murdered his wife. On the other hand, his wife was still alive.

6. Nocturnal Animals (2016)

Nocturnal Animals is a brilliant movie, BRILLIANT. I love how the story develops through its hidden messages. It feels like you're reading a literature work. I was so mesmerized by the concept of the story.

Nocturnal Animals tells a story about a rich gallery owner who received a thrilling novel written by her ex husband. Through the novel, there was actually a revenge that her ex husband tried to present.

7. The Girl on the Train (2016)

A well-done plot twist. The Girl on The Train is definitely a GOOD movie to watch. It will make you always questioning about what is actually wrong with the protagonist.

The Girl on The Train tells about a woman who had problem with her drinking (alcohol) and her previous marriage life. Those two things really affected her life in the present days. She was often being played by her mind until one day, she witnessed something that no one was sure about it, and so was herself.

8. Get Out (2017)

2017 has its own fresh mind-thrilling movie. This movie is pretty unique because it involves race issue, crime, and science into one. The twist will entrance you: how humans can create such a thinking. What thinking? If I tell you it’s gonna be a huge spoiler, you had better go watch it to find it out.

Get Out is about an African-american man, Chris,  who was invited by his white girlfriend's family. They seemed so nice and friendly but also strange at the same time. It was not too late for Chris to realize what actually was going on, what secret actually was hidden there.
