For October...
A phrase, rather than a word:
LOVED & LOST
(Apologies for the tardiness!)

For October...
A phrase, rather than a word:
LOVED & LOST
(Apologies for the tardiness!)
For September:
COMFORT
:)
The three plants at the fore were, until relatively recently, classed as 'Sansevieria'. They have now been reclassified as part of the 'Dracaena' genus (the genus of the plant at the back), 'on the basis of molecular phylogenetic studies' (Wikipedia, accessed 05/09/21).
A hidden affinity.
A personal request for August's theme:
OPTIMISM
Feeling kinda low on it; my balance of optimism vs realism is way off lately.
Several now to catch up on, and I may be alone here, but I am planning for each of them. So, for July:
BLUE
For June...
TRANSFORMER
May has arrived...
Thought it might be interesting to use the 'test yourself' element of the front page of the Oxford Dictionary website for this month's topic, or, I should say, topics. This little feature tests your understanding of the use of two similar words. So, this month's topic is a choice between (or combination of?):
APPRAISE or APPRISE
Thoughts?
xx
Good afternoon, April!
Another random word generation for this month's theme:
AFFINITY
An interesting word. Oxford Dictionaries Online (Oxford University Press, April 01 2021) suggests the origin of one of its definitions as: "Middle English (in the sense 'relationship by marriage'): via Old French from Latin affinitas, from affinis 'related' (literally 'bordering on'), from ad- 'to' + finis 'border'."
Mwah!

Would hugely appreciate notes on what does/doesn't work for any viewers, really interested in what individuals consider aesthetically or conceptually pleasing, disconcerting, curious, etc.
Hello to March :)
I've used a random word generator for a new topic:
LEMON
Do with that what you will...
The Reboot (Take Two) - REVIVAL
When we first began Mexicamera Standoff (in August 2012!), the idea was to try to make the deadline. We’d set the topic and try to complete it by the end of the month (I think? Am I remembering correctly?).
We’re reviving the project, but taking a more relaxed approach: low-pressure, take part if you like, no set deadlines, purely for our own enjoyment / challenge / skill training / sharing / whatever.
We’ll pick a new topic or word each month, but there’s no obligation to complete it within that month, or at all. Feel free to submit anytime for any previous topic.
We’ll maybe pick each topic using a randomised method (not sure how, yet to figure that out), unless anyone has a special request (if you do, please message us!).
We’ll aim to set the new topic in the first week of each month. I’m already late with the first one 🥴 so, y’know, starting off with the relaxed attitude in full swing!
Anyhoooo - for February 2021, the theme is:
REVIVAL
Mwah! xx

For the theme of ‘Thanksgiving’, a snippet from my notebook. I have a section called ‘Still a beautiful world’ in which every evening I write down a few good things from the day.
Nebulous.
Spin.
Experimentally edited with some help from my love. The Nik Collection is fascinating. Any guesses for what it is?
