Saw the discussion on Claudiaâs perception of things and it made me think back on how often I see people react to this show or analyze it with the misconception that everything Claudia says is infallible or that sheâs supposed to be the âvoice of reasonâ, especially with respect to loustat and their dynamic.
I mean, the entire reason the Mardi Gras plot falls apart in the end is because she doesnât understand the bond between Louis and Lestat, she misreads Louis in particular there (assuming we get the full and proper merrick of it all, she does know that Lestat would never allow her to kill Louis).
Her overestimating Lestat and underestimating Armand is a whole other thing but perhaps that will become clearer to people after this season. That is, the people willing to actually accept and process how new information should affect their understanding of these characters and the story being told.

And yes, Claudia was not the voice of reason. She is stuck in puberty. She's ruled by mercurial emotions. She didn't see Louis or Lestat clearly, and she had no concept of the reality of their relationship. The only thing she knew for a fact that wasn't influenced by her emotions is that Louis' priority was Lestat and Lestat's priority was Louis, and that was a bitter fact that only became clear to her in Paris and by that point, it was too late.
That's the tragedy of it all, and yes, I do think that's going to be a heartbreaking revelation that ties-in perfectly with the Merrick arc.
