In 1943, on February 22, Sophie Scholl and her brother Hans Scholl were executed by guillotine. They were part of the resistance group “White Rose”, run by students of the University of Munich. They distributed leaflets and used graffiti to decry Nazi crimes and the political system. Sophie Scholl was 21 when she was executed.
