I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
holy shit the stars are aligned I have the motivation and time and place to actually write oh my god im writing oh
partially-managed mental illness is so fucking funny i'll be sitting around doing my job and suddenly think "wow i hate myself" and immediately get confused because, like, that's not TRUE! i love myself so much. who are you to talk to me like that

"lock in" is probably one of the most important phrases to enter the public lexicon in the 2020s

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.
Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
I don't want to buy mass-produced garbage from a big box store so I go to etsy but half of etsy is now dropshipped mass-produced garbage or AI slop so I go to the local arts and crafts street market but a ton of those booths are also selling the same generic plastic objects or identical stickers or 3D printed dragons so WHERE do I buy real trinkets and art from sincere freaks
The irony of this new breed of self-righteous AI hunters on AO3 is that they're all just copy and pasting peoples fics into AI detectors, which are all operated by AI and therefore THEY are feeding people's work into the algorithm without their consent and in some cases no doubt circumventing the locks people put on to avoid getting scraped...
Don't copy and paste anyone's AO3 work into third party websites, you're not the good guys in this situation?

โDemocratic leaders fear that their partyโs growing progressive flank will dash its chances in the midterm elections. That is possible. But โ clearly โ many Democratic voters no longer buy this argument. There is less reason for them to worry than there was in previous election years. Much of their agenda reflects views that a large number of Americans now hold: disentangling politics and corporate interests, raising taxes on the wealthy, ending military aid to Israel, passing Medicare for All.โ
โ The Democratic Establishment Had This Coming
Yes, thatโs what many Americans want, but if we Democrats do not win the midtermsโitโs over. We will become an autocracy. We will NEVER get any of these things.
We told the far left in 2016 that if Trump won, we would lose the Supreme Court for at least a generation. But they couldnโt be bothered to vote for Hillary anyway because she didnโt meet their standards. And we lost the Supreme Court at least for a generation. And with that we also lost Roe v. Wade, the Voting Rights Act, any hope of campaign finance reform or gun control, etc.
We told the far left in 2024 that if they did not vote for Kamala and Trump won, he would start to usher in autocracy and neofascism. But they couldnโt bring themselves to vote for the โlesser of two evilsโ because of Gaza. So they either didnโt vote or voted third party and Trump won. And he has been engaging in ethnic cleansing of Brown and Black immigrants, building inhumane detention centers (i.e., concentration camps), and created a huge masked federal police force. The GOP has already cut Medicaid and SNAP substantiallyโbut the Medicaid cuts wonโt be felt until after the midterms. And the killing continues in Gaza, but now we are also at war with Iran.
We are telling you now that if we lose the midterms it will be OVER. In the next two years, the Trump administration will definitely turn the US into an autocracy and elections will be meaningless. There will be no going back except for revolution. And Americans are way too passive to risk their lives for a revolution.
So donโt listen to us again and see what happens.
Seriously. Iโm a social democrat and I want all the things that the left want like universal healthcare. But we need to put up candidates in different districts that can win those districts. In Manhattan a Mamdani can win. And thatโs great. But in Georgia, not so much.
So get out of your idealized bubble and get really WOKE because you are sleepwalking into a neofascist state if you keep refusing to vote for candidates that donโt check off all the right (i.e., idealized left) boxes.
Iโm getting ads telling me to replace live porch flowers with plastic ones because the plastic ones donโt die and buddy I can tell you from personal experience that those flowers will fade until they look like theyโve achieved a new kind of death
