My favorite nurse- Dr. Yolanda Garcia, Nurse reader, and Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi.
Chapter one
Micaella’s POV
I groan when my alarm goes off at five in the morning and I get up and put on my nurse scrubs. I then put my shoes and socks on before walking into the kitchen. I then filled my water bottle and I rechecked my bag and made my lunch.i then grabbed my keys before attaching my badge to my jacket. After I finish getting ready I grab an apple and a banana and then I lock up. I then headed out to my car and I looked around and I saw my neighbor student nurse Emma Nolan and I said hey girl you have your first day today do you want to carpool? She smiles and says oh yes please that would be great. I smile and say perfect you ready to go? She says oh yes i am and i smile and open the passenger door and I grab her bags and I put them in the back seat.
She gets in and she says I'm so nervous right now. I smile and say you will do great. I know you will just stick with me and our charge nurse Dana. She smiles at me and says thanks and then I say of course no problem I was nervous for my first shift as well so I get it. She then starts to ask me questions about everyone and then she asks me why do you prefer the dayshift over the night shift. I answer her questions about everyone and I say i haven’t done a night shift yet actually but the reason why I do day shifts right now is because I have a dog and she has a dog sitter in the morning and when I get home I take her out and we enjoy the evening together. She says ah okay and your dog is pretty adorable. I smile and say thank you and then I start the drive for work. We continue to talk on the drive to work . Eventually we arrive at work and I park and open the door for Emma.
She thanks me and she hops out of my car. I smile and say you’re so welcome Emma. I grab our bags and I lock the door and I lead her inside and I say follow me.We walk in and i show her where the staff locker room is at. I then give her a tour of the hospital right after we put our stuff in the locker and then I take our lunch bags to the refrigerator in the break room. We then clock in before I walk her over to Dana, our charge nurse. Dana looks up and says ah my little sunshine and I smile and say hiiii and then I introduce Emma to Dana and I say Dana is like our second mom because she protects us from rowdy patients . Emma shyly nods as Dana shows her around. I watch them walk off and I head to the nurses station waiting for a patient. I then get handed a patient chart. I read through it first and then I grab my work iPad on the counter and then I walk towards the patients bed. I smile and i get their information from them about what brought them into the er and i then take their vitals and I write them down in my notes section and then after I do an exam.
I hear footsteps walk into the room and I look over and I hear Dr. Yolanda Garcia say ahh my favorite nurse how is the patient?I smile and say stable and doing well. She smiles and says what are the symptoms and I go over the symptoms with her and her intern doctor. Doctor Garcia smiles and says good work. I smile and say thank you Doctor Garcia and I then start to help her with the patient. I check the patient's vitals and then I help Dr. Garcia. After i get done i walk back over to the desk to finish my charting. While I do my charting I see Dr. Garcia talking to Dr. Santos and I look away. I then finish up my charting before walking away. I tell princess that I will be right back and that I’m getting my water from the refrigerator.
She says okay and she watches me walk to the staff lounge. Princess sighs and says why does Dr Garcia not see that she has a perfect woman right here. perlah says i know and Maybe we should do something about it. Dr. Al- Hashimi walks into the staff lounge and I wipe my tears off when I hear footsteps and I grab my water. She looks at me and says hey you okay. I smile and nod and say I just needed my water. I forgot I put it in here. She says okay and you were crying. I look at her and I say oh you saw that uh I’m okay I just like someone but i think they like someone else. Dr. Al-Hashimi says I’m sure they like you back, have you told them? I sigh and say no I'm too afraid too and Dr. Al-Hashimi rubs my back and says talk to them sooner rather than later okay. I say okay I will and I say thank you for the support and I walk to the nurses station. princess then sees me and she asks did you get your water. I say yeah I was sorry if I took so long I was talking to Dr. Al-Hashimi about you know. She smiles and says it’s okay and ah. I look up and see Santos and Garcia still talking and I look away and go back to check on my patient. After I do that I then check on my other patients.
