My point of view is that all this could have been avoided if @the-metatron had just given me the position of Supreme Archangel in the first place. I was already doing the job as Duty Officer and had proven my competency. There was no reason for me to be demoted in favour of an angel who was terminated after directly interfering with Armageddon thereby stopping Heaven from successfully carrying out the Great Plan.
The Metatron cannot be trusted.

I don't think these lines are just about Jimbriel opening the literal bookshop door. They're more clues that, when 3.01 airs, it will not be Aziraphale who is in charge of Heaven-- it will be Michael.

given the power struggle between Michael and Uriel it’s definitely going to be interesting throwing Aziraphale into the mix
i definitely think Gabriel assumed he was “opening the door” for Michael to take over - as most beings thought as well
could also be that Gabriel knew just how much Michael was using those “back channels that don’t exist” and left a door open on the way out
