if you’re white and you act like race issues are just “unnecessary drama” or “discourse” then sorry to tell you but you’re just…. racist
yes white people CAN and probably SHOULD reblog this just dont add on anything.
I made a thread today to give some tips for all the protesters around the country going out and resisting, and I figured it would be helpful to share it here too. Be smart, safe, and radical.

Pro tip: when protesting against white supremacists rub vaseline along your neck, cheeks, and arms in case they try to grab/hit you.
Also, try not to wear baggy clothes/necklaces/big earrings/your hair down. Don’t give them anything they can pull you with.
If you plan on escalating and getting arrested, make sure it’s planned and make sure you give your valuables and legal info to someone who knows.
If de-arresting someone, tell someone else that’s what you’re doing (if you’re able) and be careful; if caught, it’s an extra charge.
If there are marshalls, trust your marshalls and help your marshalls. Especially if it is your first intense/big protest.
If you have asthma please bring a damn inhaler. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to borrow a stranger’s inhaler.
If folks wanna destroy property - hell uear that’s awesome. But remember, if you aren’t planning on getting arrested then don’t be near.
Expect shit to go wrong. Cops are unpredicatble pigs who will flip on a crowd of protesters in a matter of seconds. Don’t be surprised.
If you’re arrested and it wasn’t planned, don’t freak out. Shit happens. Just make sure a protest buddy knows your legal name and D O B.
If you are hit with pepper spray, 99% of the time you have to remove the shirt that was hit. Otherwise you will not escape its effects.
You are (hopefully) not a fucking cop. If someone is being more “destructive” than planned, it is not your job to stop them.
Vinegar over a bandana tied around the mouth/nose will help negate tear gas. If hit by tear gas, breathe slowly and don’t panic.
Stay as far away from police dogs as possible. Even when not commanded to, they are unpredictable and will bite out of instinct. (Hitting a police dog or horse is considered a felony and can land you in jail, actually.)
If detained by the police, you do not have to answer their questions. So don’t. This is for your own protection and the protection of others.
When detained police will try to have “informal conversation” with you in order to use the things you say, just sing protest songs or something.
Again, if you’re arrested and it was not planned don’t panic. Organizations, thanks to the internet, are great at raising bail money quickly.
We learned in Ferguson that sound machines make you feel like your ears are bleeding, but cheap dollar store ear plugs are a easy solution.
Don’t be like @/Ellevation_ and be barefoot at every action. Wear nice sporty shoes or even something like Vans that have good grip.
If there are white supremacists and you’re going Antifa, let someone know. We don’t need any comrades doing jumped for doing the Lord’s work.
If a comrade is being arrested, take video if you can. This can be useful in court and documents all police misconduct/unlawful arrest.
If you have more experience with intense actions and notice a friend who doesn’t, consider sticking with them and helping them if needed.
It’s about communal resistance. Whether you sre shutting down a highway, burning something, or occupying space, think communally.
Personal aside: take the mic from liberals. Especially white liberals.
If pepper spray hits you, do not touch it with your fingers (if possible). If it gets into your eyes or mouth, milk/milk of magnesia is bae.
Police are not your friends. If you see someone giving “free hugs” to cops at a protest, kick them out and keep it moving.
And last but not least, burn a damn American flag for God’s sake.
Oh yeah, and don’t blame people for not hitting the streets. Not everyone is able.

hope this helps :)
Additions:
Don’t slather yourself in Vaseline. It generally isn’t flammable but may become flammable under certain conditions.
DO NOT WEAR YOUR CONTACTS. Opt for prescription shatter-proof goggles if anything at all.
Protect your arms, torso & legs as much as possible (motorcycle gear helps) to avoid damage from police dog bites.
You can purchase pepper spray & STUN GUNS (not tasers; there is a difference) legally without a permit in most states for the purpose of self-defense.
Also: a vinegar-soaked bandana doesn’t help much against tear gas. Keep calm, leave the area as quick as possible & rinse thoroughly with milk of magnesia or actual milk.
Sit a girl down, talk to her for fifteen minutes and you will literally have a personal vendetta against her father and every single man she has interacted with throughout her life
y’all are like “why make unnecessary pride flags! the rainbow flag includes gay men AND women, the lesbian flag is useless” but then turn around and create a whole pride flag bc u can’t make friends
one of the weirdest changes you go through when you get older that nobody tells you about is how much you start to absolutely LOVE walking. like i never really hated the outdoors as a kid but you asked me if i wanted to go strolling through the woods and fields or something i would’ve refused without hesitation. now i’m only outmatched by dogs in terms of how utterly bonkers i go when i hear the w word.
Men think it’s ruder for a woman to say “don’t interrupt me” than it is for them to interrupt her in the first place
id probably call that ruder. Jus cause I interrupt someone don’t mean I was mentally thinking bout cutting this annoying ass bitch off. it just so happened my g.
I know you would call that ruder. That’s what the post was about.
Me: men think this
A man: no, actually I think exactly what you said men think
Me: right.
*walks past a group of men* wow the ground is so interesting the floor is facisnating…love dirt and also concrete…sidewalks amaze me
I know it's been so so long since I posted here, but I got into grad school! I'm starting work on my Master's in August.
You're telling me the mandrakes in Harry Potter were sentient enough to be moody, throw parties, and move into each other's pots, and they were still chopping up those leafy lil bitches to use as ingredients??
I've done a very bad job of keeping up with my studyblr this semester, but like, that's the great thing about it. It's here when I need it. Just as an update, I finished my finals today. I wrote a 17 page research proposal this semester, created three art pieces (one of which is up in my school's gallery), and did so so much reading. It was a great semester. At the beginning, I didn't want to go back. I didn't think I'd make it. But I did, and it grew me. Somehow, I got through this.
Mood
Anxious over art, anxious over gender, anxious over graduate school, anxious over coming out, anxious over my anxiety
my brother wants to know which hogwarts house is the gayest what do we think lads
It's Hufflepuff
Could you do like the houses as types of art forms? thanks! x
Gryffindor: graffiti, performing arts (music, dance, theatre)
Hufflepuff: sculpture, handicrafts
Ravenclaw: mixed media pieces that make you question what is and isn’t art, but also performance art (not to be confused with performing arts)
Slytherin: architecture and photography
I super liked answering this ask. Art is my jam.
-Jamie (Gryffindor)
Yessss I love it
Me this semester
The people at the coffee shop I go to are so used to seeing me that they’ve given me three free cups of coffee this week, and one day I was heading out and the employee called out “see you tomorrow” after me
As an update to this point, the baristas have also suggested putting my name on the seat I always sit at and that I sleep on the couch instead of leaving. I've spent probably 1/5 of my total time at this shop this semester.
