Newly Unearthed Bowie Performance from 1973
So as the story goes, this awesometown performance of Jean Genie was lost forever when the good ole BBC erased the tape so it could reuse the tape!?! However one sly McFly cameraman was like, nope, I got this one guys, no worries and thanks to youtube, the world can see it now, your welcome, and we was like, WOW, we are welcome, thank you camera man.
Enjoy!
Wow, too good.
Once lost now found Bowie performances are always MICKEY NICKELS APPROVED.
Son of a Gun
Well if there is one thing we love, among the many things we do, it is a culinary adventure. No doubt Los Angeles offers many an eating excursion (like too legit Korean BBQ in Koreatown where you went so authentic no one speaks English and you had to order by pointing at the menu (happened)).
Enter Son of a Gun. Its gotten lots of good press and supposedly is the bomb. Well, let us cut to the chase, it was the bomb, a big old yummy-tasty-we-just-ate-alligator kinda boom!
We started with a delicious Maui Brewing Co Coconut Porter which was delicious by all accounts
We then paired that with smoked mahi fish dip, celery, radish and crackers. A little light, but great none the less.
From there it was, boom! gimme dat entrée. We got 2: the amberjack crudo, galbi vinaigrette and watermelon radish and then, the most best ever, hold on to your socks: alligator schnitzel, heart of palm with orange. you heard it right: ALLIGATOR!!!!!!
I don't know the last time you had alligator, but we sure know the last time we did! Oh, and in case your wondering, yes it was over the top delicious. To be honest, just go, we don't need to write any more about it, just believe the hype and enjoy.
Go, have a good time, feel great, smile, and remember we told you so, no literally, we just told you.
Son of a Gun is MICKEY NICKELS APPROVED.

So This is What Keith Was Talking About....
In his book, Life, Keith Richards talks about a time period in the 80's where Mick Jagger was really trying to make a solo career happen. He talks about it with a lot of distain, says Mick was making a fool of himself and was just kinda prancing around making crappy music with out the Stones, embarrassing himself and acting all around kinda cuntty. This must have been what he was talking about:
Oh, we get it now...
Mick Jagger's solo career is NOT MICKEY NICKELS APPROVED.
Christmas Wishlist #3: Timex Camper
Have you also noticed that every "man" these days has a hard on for anything "vintage" or "vintage inspired"? That anything their Grandpa might have worn is now in vogue. They seem ready to build a house, chop wood and storm the beaches of Normandy all while standing in line at Starbucks to order their morning low fat latte while "checking in" on their iPad before they head to work (and by work we mean sitting at a desk with the glow of their Macbook Pro on their faces).
Clever businesses have keened in on this and have begun offering "curated" vintage collections of anything from bags to watches. We recently have noticed that "vintage" military watches have become the watch de jour and companies have been charging hundreds of doll hairs for them. We say, "No need for that my friend."
Let us remind you of this bit of history: The original US military specification was published in 1964, the objective of which was to set out the basic requirements for straightforward low cost watches to be issued to the military. The actual wording from the original specification reads as follows:
"This specification covers one type of plastic-cased wrist watch intended for use where a high degree of accuracy is not required. The watch is not intended to receive maintenance support within the military supply system."
The Timex Camper is the perfect watch for that "rugged outdoors look" you've been wanting so bad while fingering your iPad. No need to waste time late at night in bed looking at blogs for that perfectly curated watch from Hickorees. Also no need to go to J Crew to buy an over priced Timex for almost 2 bills. Nay the Timex Camper is all you need and at the low low price of $35, you can't go wrong. Buy this instead and save some extra dough for tomorrow's latte.

Aw Vruck It...It Was Parked Outside
Uhhhhhhhhh....what is this awesomeness parked outside our offices today?! We don't know. It's like a Dodge van and truck got drunk had a wild night together and 9 months later this little red painted beauty popped out. So naturally we called it a Vruck. Can anyone tell us what this actually is, cause we wanna buy one like yesterday.
This Vruck is MICKEY NICKELS APPROVED

Christmas Wishlist #1: Icon Fj/Cj/Br 4x4
LA Based 4x4 reinventor Icon has been re-imagining past off road masters for a couple years now and if we had the money (which we don't) we would love to own any of these masterpieces. Its pretty simple: take something that was/is awesome, make it better, keep the look that is loved and make it do better what it was meant to do. A great ethos for pretty much anything.

Drink Some Ninkasi, Cause We Do
We drink Ninkasi on a regular basis, you should too. It's a tasty treat of a beer from Eugene, Oregon and if you can get your hands on it, it is just too good.
Here are our favorite four beers listed in a particular order, of course:
Numba 1 Stunna for us is:
But that can be hard to get yo hands on here in the greater LA area so we often buy and drink this cause we can buy it at BevMo, and you can too:
Onna-Conna the Holiday coming up we recently tasted this and loved it:
And for those of you into the blonder fan fare there is this cleverly named gem:
We were recently up in the great Eugene, OR area and so we stopped by to have a couple (well, it ended up being more than a couple). They have a real nice spread so if you are ever in the Eugene area, stop on by, throw back a couple and enjoy!
See, nice outside area for drankin'
And they even have this cool gate, I mean come on, its a GGT (Guaranteed Great Time):
So drive out to your local liquor establishment, buy a nice tall Ninkasi, pop it open and congratulate yourself on being so awesome and in the know.
Ninkasi is MICKEY NICKELS APPROVED.
