REGULARS
I've received some questions about the King Eddy book, REGULARS.... Yes, it's still available at the Blurb.com website. Two versions and two price points. Thanks so much for your support for the project, the community, the historic dive bar, and the neighborhood.

Other good news: The Baltimore and The King Edward hotels are now owned by Aids Healthcare Foundation and will continue to provide low income housing for Skid Row residents. I know Bob, former manager, wanted that very much for the Baltimore Hotel, so that is important progress in order to keep residents housed in their own community.
More info about the Baltimore Hotel here:

(Please note that Blurb charges a standard base price to self publish books. I only earn a few dollars from each sale which goes back to independent community based projects.)

We are raising funds for postproduction on Bluesman On The Row. Please check out our fundraiser page at: http://bit.ly/2dFQwXx. George Porter lived on the streets of Skid Row for over a year before finding housing. The film is about his experiences and features the talent of Skid Row residents. We collaborated with Skid Row residents, unhoused and housed, to shoot the footage. Everyone gave of their own time and talent to create this project. Now it’s time to give back to the community and finish the film. We all are paid for our hard work. Let’s give local talent and crew compensation they deserve. Thank you.
"Dr. Martin Luther King once said very eloquently that an individual has not started to live until he can rise above his own individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. Tonight I want to preface what I want to say about Wendell by saying this.... This community...there's a lot of people that pick up the mantle and run with it. We have Coach Ron in the audience. We have our dear brother Lucky. Our dear sister Rose. And there's other individuals in this community.... Make no mistake about it, this is a community...a community of very talented intellectual individuals. It's a community that wants the things that every other community has and gets. But as we know, we talk truthfully, this community has been neglected for so long. It's been marginalized, dehumanized, criminalized, and totally neglected and that starts at the Mayor's Office, the City Council, the LAPD, and also DLANC. I just want to say this: DLANC has found it their budget to give $5000 for a poop bag, for dogs, for people west of Main, but our dear brother right now who's trying to put on a job fair and he's been told a couple of times...of getting less than $600 to put on a job fair in Skid Row. So we understand why...that we are basically in this thing alone. And that leads me to the point even talking about Wendell. He does what he does. He's been doing it for fourteen years literally on a no string budget. Literally with no funds. No help from anyone. With no media coverage. Downtown News does not cover Skid Row and if they do it's only something about the criminalization going on in this area. We continue to rise. We continue to do. And this gentleman has been doing for fourteen years. As my dear friend Lucky says, "You know what he's going to do seven days a week." ______________________________________________ Eddie H. pays tribute to Wendell Blassingame. Watch our doc Mr. Blassingame: Honoring 14 Years of Community Service on Vimeo now. Link at http://www.vimeo.com/ondemand/mrblassingame /////////// A live celebration and tribute for Wendell Blassingame at the James Wood Center in Skid Row, Los Angeles. Wendell has served the Skid Row community for years as a Downtown Neighborhood Council Representative for Skid Row, screening Movies on The Nickel every weekend at the James Wood Center for homeless residents in Skid Row, and providing community outreach and information in San Julian Park on a daily basis...for fourteen, now going on fifteen years, he is serving his community. The celebration brought together talented residents and supporters who provided music, spoken word, and moving speeches honoring Wendell Blassingame. All Vimeo earnings go equally to performers, production costs, and to fund Movies on The Nickel, Wendell's weekly film screenings in Skid Row, which benefit Skid Row residents, housed and unhoused.

Full house at the Skid Row Neighborhood Council Formation Committee Meeting. General Jeff elected as Chairperson, vote against the proposed micro-lofts on Fifth Street passed, and discussions about important community issues took place. The SRNC formation process will take time, most of 2016, but the community support is huge and present now.
