I'm adapting to life down here.
Can anyone help this person?
it has come to my attention that not everybody came to the same conclusion I did in majora's mask that the lack of closure and general evil energy abt the making souls into death masks thing is almost definitely the happy mask salesman's fault due to his rancid nature. but like the only death mask that has a storyline like that is the deku scrub one, where link doesn't know what's up with the masks yet and doesn't have the chance to speak with the scrub either before or after death and didn't collect the mask himself.. there is smthn there I think.
idk what the consensus on the happy mask salesman is generally but i do not rlly consider him morally ambiguous that is an evil man he just isn't the major threat and antagonist of the story yk. which is actually smthn I find cool and fun buuut I don't think he's morally ambiguous I think he is nasty truly selfish and a hoarder of lost souls. one of which is mario apparently. donot argue with me on him being objectively/canonically evil or whatever btw it's my fun interpretation ok I don't care lalalala 👂👈
looks at you like this
i should quit my job and search for the golden ant
its actually going pretty well
I always feel so cheated in stories when characters are walking around with this Big Guilt and then...you find out that the thing wasn't their fault at all. And not in a "they thought they did it but it turns out they were set up" way, or even a "accepting that just because they did A which caused B which caused C it doesn't mean C was their fault", way but where they finally lay out the sequence of events and it's clear that any thinking person would not connect them. Like, fucking commit!!! The character isn't LESS compelling if they actually did the thing! You can't have the haunted brooding meow meow who is...also completely blameless
im nonbinary in a way that doesnt really matter
um today i put my glasses on my elephant stuffed animal and it was cute and also her name is ellie
now this is what i wanna hear

a lot of people dont care about insect biomass collapse bc when they hear we are losing 2.5% of the insect biomass per year they just imagine the cockroach and housefly population decreasing by that much. they dont realize those are among the only ones that will remain unbothered
you can make a little oasis right where you are, and it matters
every year of restoring native plants I see a great increase in the insect populations, and loads of new insects i never saw before (all of them harmless--the insects that are harmful or parasitic on humans are the main ones being unaffected by the decrease in insect populations)
(a large part of) the problem is Plant Sameness. we must restore plant diversity
remember "save our salmons". remember when little buddy was revealed and everyone thought there'd be salmonid reparations in 3. remember how there was still potential for it since the head of business dedicated to propagandizing, displacing, invading, mass-exterminating, and stealing their fertile eggs was found out and banished into space
don't get me wrong i love salmon run and it's always been my favorite game mode by far, and the salmonid culture is very intriguing and i enjoy observing their music and architecture and fashion and ways of life. i do wish it was being tackled differently, it's been long enough that a new angle would be nice. it doesn't feel good to be playing british museum simulator with their keepsakes, and crafting gear from dumped plastic garbage that ends up a burden on their shores. please tell me there's some kind of plot twist and the way social media posts about salmonids being nuisance pests is a ruse PLEASE let deepcut realize they're doing some fucked up shit
on top of all that in-world stuff, the salmonids are very heavily inspired by irl indigenous cultures, the ainu and pnw groups most prominently. i may be missing some due to this being a brief rundown; the major points are salmon (and bears, worth mentioning for context. the salmon war intrisnic grizz.) being an essential resource through their histories, salmonid spiritualism leaning into the environment's resources and cycle of life and death, cooking being a central piece to their lives (including tools, weapons, decoration, fashion, afterlife) and an utmost sign of respect, and all the salmonid folk art that is just directly formline.
all brutally juxtaposed by that bullshit of constantly calling them nuisance creatures that Crawl Ashore and depicting them as gross and having stuff like that render of an inkling dragging a chum on a leash. utterly mind numbing and jaw dropping things happening within splatoon writer brains constantly
