Doodle of an idea I had where Danny’s iris and pupil are shattered (in his ghost form most noticeably) on the side of his face where the electricity of the ghost portal initially struck the hand that flipped the switch and travelled up his arm. Thoughts? Also, white or black eyelashes?
Mechanic AU Part 3- Half of it is in comic form and the other half is written under the cut
Part 1 Part 2
“Paulina” Dash’s voice cut through the hallway, quieting both the girls. “They’re not ganging up on me, I actually needed to talk to Fenton. I’ll stop by your house after my shift.”
Paulina looked like she had more to say, but changed her attitude with a huff.
“Don’t be late, otherwise we’re all starting the Nightmerica trilogy without you.” Paulina called down the hallway as her and Star walked away and out the school.
Dash turned back to the trio in front of him, glancing at Sam and Tucker.
“I don’t really want to talk to you two though.”
“Excuse me-” “Wait we’re not-” Both Sam and Tucker started to protest
“Guys, its fine.” Danny cut in. “I’ll meet you at Nasty Burger.”
They both gave him an incredulous look but relented after a second. With a final glare towards Dash the two of them left the same way as Paulina and Star.
By then the hallway had cleared out, no other students wanting to delay access to their weekend.
“I take it they know too.” Dash stated, breaking the silence.
Danny just nodded. All the anger and confidence from before long since dissipating after the adrenaline wore off. Now he was just anxious at the thought of someone who had antagonized him for so long holding his closest kept secret. It was terrifying.
“Why don’t you tell people your Phantom? Pretty sure you’d be the most popular person here if everyone knew.” Dash said as he leaned back against the lockers, his arms crossed over his chest.
Danny looked at him in surprise, not expecting to start with this kind of a question. His mind went blank at the idea of responding. How could he summarize the feeling of betrayal- knowing people would only like him because he had powers and no other reason. Or how him being cool didn't mean Sam and Tucker would be as well, and how his closest friends would be ostracized further. But worst of all, rumors didn’t stay contained, and if any of his ghostliness got leaked to his parents, he couldn’t handle the anger and disgust they’d target at him.
“You wouldn’t get it.” Danny finally mumbled, looking away from Dash.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Dash asked with obvious irritation.
fade to black
“...So... You’re not going to tell anyone?” Danny asked nervously
Dash shook his head “no” before bracing his shoulders and looking Danny square in the eyes. “Since I know your big secret I’ll tell you mine.”
“Why?” Danny asked, his eyebrows scrunching up in confusion.
“Call it collateral”
“Wow, didn’t know you knew that big of a word”
Instead of getting mad like Danny expected, Dash just rolled his eyes before coming out and saying “I’m gay.”
“I-” Danny started “I- Why is that the... Wait you’ve had like three girlfriends.”
“You better not tell anyone got it? Or else everyone finds out your Phantom.” Dash threatened, lifting himself from the lockers and putting his backpack on. “And if I tell anyone about you, then you get to ruin my life.”
Dash left Danny where he was and started walking to the large double doors at the front of the school. Before getting even ten feet away Dash turned back around for a second.
Wohoo! Pt three is done!
Part 1 Part 2
It's going to take much longer for the next part to come out, my weekend is officially over. Thank you again for the reception I've gotten so far!! This is just a silly idea, but i'm stoked that so many of ya'll like it too!
So i got an idea for an eventual Dash/Danny mechanic AU
I think I'm going to create a master post when I have more of it fleshed out. This part is more for context, so not too much happened. Takes place senior year though
there's not going to be any sort of update schedule, but I have at least 5 bullet points I want to cover
Y'know what Danny Phantom really missed an opportunity to have one of the characters say "I'll do X when pigs fly" and then just have them stare in silence as a ghost pig immediately floats across the background and then look at the camera and really cheerfully go "sold!"
Cass is so fun as a character because she fulfils the 'gruff but with a heart of gold' trope in a way that normally is exclusively used for male characters. Cass can be abrasive, and asocial, and off-putting. She is better than everyone, knows it, and she is not afraid to say it loudly to your face. She tried to help Babs feel better after seeing her cry, and decided the best way was to simply throw Nightwing out of a window (it's okay, he was fine).
But Cass is also someone who loves deeply and cares so much. About everyone. She has strong moral convictions to never kill not because she's scared it would push her over the edge but because she values people's lives so much. Because she believes everyone can choose to be better, and they deserve the chance to make that choice.
She isn't sweet and friendly and someone who always manages to get on with people, but she also isn't a cold ruthless assassin. She is a tough, broken person who finds something to protect in everyone. Someone who can frankly be a jerk (and can be difficult for some people to get along with) but who would risk her life time and time again if it meant helping someone. Cass is a hero through and through.
