Is there a way to find a release date for yarn?
The yarn I want isn’t out yet. *Cries forever*
I'm also working on a doll for my nephew (part of the reason I'm using this terrible yarn was to keep it having a sort of consistency between the different parts).
The pattern is something I'm writing myself as I make it (in the event i want to make another (which is likely).
I've impressed my grandmother because of this doll and my pattern writing skills. Well, I suppose I have something going for me.
I'll probably post a photo when I'm finished.
You ever get that yarn that's really crappy and you want it to burn, but you can't because it's the only yarn available to you that matches your project's specifications?
Because that's the kind of yarn I'm working with now.
Yarn Skeleton
Omg, I'm finally on the last page of the pattern for my super secret project.
It's sooooo close to being finished. Of course it would have been done a long time ago if I didn't take a month or two off it. But still, I see the finish line at last!
Yes. I crocheted a sonic screwdriver. YAY!
Free pattern available on ravelry.com. Just go to the crochet patterns tab and type “sonic screwdriver” into the search box.
Crocheted Sonic Screwdriver
I have the colors to make this. I'm going to do it.
Secret Project
I bought a lot of yarn today. Well over 5000 yards. But this is all for one single project that's wrapped up in secrecy.
I will say that I designed this myself and it took about a week to transcribe the pattern. Oh, and everything except one thing is made with Caron Simply Soft because I want it to be of a decent quality.
Here's the majority of the yarn I'm using:
My foot's also there. Sorry about that. Also my computer's power cord because I'm working on getting all of this into balls as we speak. Oh! And there's a little sneak peak at the pattern I drew for this project. Not that you can make anything of importance out, but it's still there.
So...yeah.
Productive during Classes....yeah right!
So I'm in Linguistics and I'm just designing this outfit I want to make out of yarn. It's related to Homestuck....sort of. There's this post that appeared on my dash using first letters of names and birth month and day to find your title/aspect and Sburb land.
I ended up getting Keeper of Glass as my title/aspect and I thought, hey! Why not design the thing and make it. Out of yarn because they're supposed to be pajama-ish.
So there I am, simultaneously making a design for this title/aspect and taking notes and I'm making the pattern based off what I knew from my sewing experiences and making that hooded sweater I just finished and the one I'm actually going to be able to wear that I just started. I'm thinking, man, this could be possible; this could actually work! I've even worked out what stitches I'm going to uses.
All I need is the gauge and how much yarn of each color I'd need.
Started my Yarn Journal
So I now have a yarn journal.
I got it up to date, for the most part. I still have to research one type of yarn so I can record it.
It just seems like my Ravelry can't be the only place I record my projects and yarn stash. And I can carry this one around easily.
Started: 3/28/2012 Finished: 4/13/2012
A hooded v-neck sweater made from Caron Simply Soft yarn. Size L/1x based on the pattern provided free from the Caron website.
Is a size too big for me and I'm planning on selling it.
Midnight Afghan, status: complete.
Began: March 13, 2012
Completed: April 9, 2012
This was possibly the best thing I could have made second in my rejoining of the crochet community. There were times when I felt like I was wasting my time or I'd never finish it, but I'm so glad I pushed through. Now I can snuggle under something I made.
There are only three rounds of black as a frame around the blue, which I was happy about. I wanted three to four and I was glad to see the three rounds worked perfectly. I also nearly ran out of yarn for that last round. I've got a bit of yarn still left from that ball, though.
Starting on shaping the neck in my v-neck hooded top thing now. Feeling like I'll actually get this done. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it done by 4/13. Posting pictures later today.
Can't sleep
So crocheting.
I'm actually kind of frustrated. I'd gotten to about row 44 on this project (a crocheted v-neck, hooded, shortsleeved top) and I notice a discrepancy in the number of stitches I'm supposed to have. I was over by about eight according to the pattern.
Me, being a perfectionist, looked at my work to see where I'd started the increase. I thought I found it, so I unraveled all the way back to row 13. Then, I count the stitches and found I was still off. So I unraveled the entire thing.
I've still got more than twenty rows until I'm all caught up again.
At least I'm being productive with my insomnia.

Starting point I would suggest knittinghelp.com
Thanks for the website!

I’ve found verypink.com to be super helpful!
Thanks a lot! I'll check it out when I have the time.

KnittingHelp.com has lots of videos, and YouTube has a lot of videos, too. Do you have dpns for the socks?
Yeah, I have some. I got them last night with a friend of mine because he's full of experience. I just don't see him often enough. And thank you for telling me about the website. :D

I hope so! I'm really looking forward to getting to that point. C:

This is the link that I first learned from a few months ago! hurrayitsmegan.blogspot…
Thanks for the link. It looks really helpful. :D
For some reason, I felt the need of wanting to learn how to knit. I already know how to crochet, so how hard can it be, right?
Famous last words ;)
First reaction: OMG there’s two needles instead of one, now what do I do with the other one?
Second reaction: I have a book, it says „Knitting for Dummies“, so I’m good. Nothing bad can happen.
Third step: Knit Fail! at casting on the stitches!!!!
Sounds like last night for me. I have figured out the first part of a casting on technique, though. The second part and after...I'm so lost.
