Currently re-watching Pitt season 2 cause I got my wisdom teeth out today, and I also remember a lot less than I thought from binging both seasons my first time.

Anywho, I love the patients of this series. The actors are phenomenal and their stories are so meaningful to me. We truly see the humanity of the show through them and their interactions with the main cast. I enjoy the deeper topics that come out of this show the most because it genuinely gives me a hopeful look on life and an insight on communities I wouldn't normally get to learn about. Struggles in accessibility for the disabled and unhoused, a peak into other cultures, police brutality, mental health advocacy, and relationships being tested in times of crisis.

I love this show so much and I'm glad it's so successful, because it is necessary in our current times here and now.

Sometimes I'm in a silly goofy mood and life is a wonderful whimsical playground, other times I'm standing atop the mountains of my nightmares and all is lost in this damned hellscape.

Drug use isn't a funny quirk.

I see a lot of people in The Pitt fan space depict Dr. Langdon's addiction as a joke and a non serious defining quality of his character. It doesn't sit well with me.

This man is a father, a husband, a friend, and a doctor. And yes he is disabled by this addiction and the physical pain that led to his using. Please don't forget that part.

I am by no means a big Langdon supporter, but I do relate to his struggle. I experience chronic pain every day of my life, and I would be lying if I said taking all the meds in my drawer didn't cross my mind every now and then. I also grew up around addicts and let me tell you it ain't something we treat lightly. Not fun, funny, glamorous, or quirky.

I am not defending him or his bad behavior. He put patients at risk. He treated Santos unfairly. He lied to the people who care for him and could've helped him. He did get a second chance that most definitely wouldn't have gotten.

But that's no excuse for your little jokes.

Be a friend this Disability Pride Month and acknowledge the disabilities your favorite characters have!

Yes, write that fan fic and make that art, but don't be afraid to give the characters mobility aids and accommodations!

An amputee will need a break from their prosthesis.

A chronic pain haver will need more down time than others.

A character with autism, adhd, ocd, and the like will benefit from sensory toys and noise canceling headphones.

A character with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts will need to be alone sometimes and may not be receptive to affection.

A character that gets sick often would definitely wear a mask around people when leaving the house.

Headcanons are entirely possible because not all disabilities are diagnosed or visibly obvious.

Look up articles and YouTube videos, listen to the people who deal with this stuff irl and see what they have to say. You might make someone's day by including this suff. It definitely makes me happier as someone with chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, and mental health struggles to see people put in those familiar details when I read fics and see art.

Ruby Bridges, the first African-American child to attend an all-white elementary school in the south, is younger than my own grandmother. She is still active in her activism to this day, and can be found on social media.

I often see people online debate about how we, as black people in this country, should feel when we are faced with racism(especially on the internet). Some say: "A tweet from so long ago shouldn't bother you." "All you people do is complain." On and on they go. I resent these statements.

I can be as bothered as I want to be, because we still have not come far enough as a society to ensure that black people are not harmed for existing, not portrayed by racial bias in media, not made the butt of the joke in predominantly white spaces, and not ostracized for being upset when something bad happens to us.

We have made progress, absolutely, but not enough. Because that little black girl that was viciously harassed for walking the steps of an all-white school in America? She's in her 70s and has not seen a world where her people can be left alone in peace yet.

We are not so removed from slavery, Jim Crow, or segregation as some would have you believe. Please try to understand this with kindness and empathy.

I get so inspired looking at everyone's art (ya'll are so talented), but also overwhelmed. I'm trying not to focus on what gets a lot of attention and praise and instead do what's easiest and fun for me.

My version of Zira( @kianamaiart ) as a magical girl 🧚🏾‍♀️ I went along with her implied moon theme compared to Aika, but also including complimentary stars~ I also gave her a little friend, I believe their name would be Tsuki, meaning "Moon" in Japanese (cause of Hoshi...and Star, you get it). I like the title Moon Mage, Mage of the Moon for her. Plus this looks like an older version of her, so maybe Aika found a way for her to get temporary powers down the line.
