The real villain of bleach is kubo. He knew the ichiruki pairing was very popular so he put them front and center on everything and even hinted at them fighting together in the final battle with Uryu and Aizen while he worked on his uber evil plan to put Ichi and Rukia with other characters and act innocent. The true villain is always the author.

For a second I had forgotten that Urahara literally said “Kurosaki... Kuchiki... I leave it to you” before the final battle yet she didn’t get to do anything in the end... correct me if I’m wrong but there’s literally no explanation for that other than he was just misleading the readers, right? gross
