How Genshin Impact Characters Love (as told by tarot)
a/n: (smh i was supposed to do my tokyo revengers version of this today and i come here with genshin because i’m so excited about inazuma releasing lol) here we are with another ‘how genshin characters love’ post, but this time with a tarot-based twist! my tarot event was surprisingly popular, so i thought why not do this again with fandoms i really like and obviously i had to do some genshin characters. if people really like it, i think i’ll do more genshin characters if people have certain characters in mind! let me know what you guys think of the interpretations, i think they’re accurate to the characters!

xiao’s love was a risk he decided to take, a dance of uncertainty he isn’t sure will lead him but he joins it anyway. xiao knows the pain that ultimately always follow when one of the adepti decides to love a human, it is something he was painfully aware of before pursuing a relationship with you and it is something that is always at the back of his mind throughout. but that fear and sorrow wasn’t enough to stop him in the end. xiao’s love is expressed through his actions and spending time with you. his love is sturdy and a love you can depend on because he presents himself as such. if there are only so many days, months, and years he can have with you, xiao doesn’t want you to feel unloved or neglected for even a minute of it. his love is protective, likening himself to your own personal knight like stories of old from nations like mondstadt and fontaine. he dreams of a day his karmic debt is something he no longer has to worry about and he is able to cast away his yaksha mask for the simple pleasures of being with you and experiencing life the way you have. maybe a day like that will come, maybe it won’t, either way xiao plans to be beside you

there’s a selfishness to albedo’s love that he isn’t able to figure out. he wants to devote all his time to alchemy, yet he also wants to spend the exact same amount of time with you. he wishes to discover the secrets of life that this universe holds, but he also finds himself wishing to discover things about you that you haven’t revealed or that even you yourself aren’t privy to (although there are times he does figure something out about you only for you to do something else completely contradictory, it’s an endless cycle that only goes to show how complicated human nature is). the selfish desires running rampant in him are all at conflict with each other and a practical solution for it all is hard even for the chief alchemist of mondstadt, and one of the brightest minds in mondstadt, to come up with. but despite his troubling, for lack of a better word, inner conflicts, albedo love is warm and joyous. he enjoys having you in his life and cares for you greatly. the sunflower is a symbol of longevity, adoration, and loyalty, all of which he feels towards you. he may not be one for dancing, but the way you make him feel is a feeling mighty close. perhaps he can recreate the imagery with alchemy, you certainly make his feelings feel like they are sprouting up like sunflowers

for the spindrift knight, love would be a new, less traveled road she’s never embarked upon until you came into her life. love was something eula’s had yet to receive from even her own family, so romantic love was especially unfamiliar for her. those were feelings she’s never thought of having for anyone, definitely unplanned. but isn’t love generally that way to begin with? still, eula likely held herself from back from her feelings, though it shows on her face plenty despite trying to present herself as apathetic and uncaring. when she let’s go of those self imposed chains and learns what love is supposed to be like, eula’s love is secure and steady. she might not always express it the way she’d like, but her actions speak far louder than her words ever could through caring and compassionate actions. you don’t care about her status as the depraved descendant of mondstadt’s fallen clan. you only see her as eula, your eula, and that for her gives her the courage to walk with you on a path together and see where it leads you even if she feels as blind as a newborn with every step she takes

yanfei’s love is straightforward and clear. just as her contract to her parents dictated, yanfei lives freely and only makes choices that serve to make her happy. as such, when she comes to love someone, yanfei doesn’t hold back and she presents herself in earnest to be in a relationship with you. she assures you through her words that she loves you and loves being with you and whenever her busy work as a legal advisor gives her some free time, yanfei is more than happy to spend it with you (though she may chatter most of the day away). despite her cheery and lackadaisical disposition, however, it hasn’t slipped her mind that being half-adeptus your lifespans are severely different. she often worries about when the time will arise that this detrimental difference begins to show on your body that will age much faster than her own. but yanfei knows this is the price all of adeptus blood must pay if they wish to partake in relationships with the humans

childe’s love is as dedicated as love comes despite his playful and shrewd nature he shows to others who don’t have the luxury of knowing him the way you or his family does. but when childe loves, he is no longer childe the eleventh harbinger of the fatui or tartaglia the thrill-seeking warrior. no, when childe loves – truly comes to fall in love – he is ajax of snezhnaya who loves his family above all else. the people he becomes with his various aliases aren’t associated with the relationship he has with you, like a shield of love and luxury that exists only for the both of you. he can be himself and pretend his troubles and duties don’t burden him when he’s with you and relax solely on you. but ajax isn’t foolish, he knows there’s only so long he can keep you separated from the fatui and what carrying the titles childe and tartaglia brings. something has to give, either your relationship or his duties as a harbinger. it is something he thinks about constantly but perhaps there is a flower hidden in the branches of the weeping willow tree that alludes to a positive outcome after the end of his contemplative period
