Please stay tuned for my upcoming YouTube channel where I'll be showing you how to make one of your own #NEScade. I don't even have a name for it yet! I had so much fun making this project and it came out better than I hoped it would, albeit could have been a little neater 😜 #pigrrl #waveshare #8bitdo #nespro30 #raspberrypi #Mario #tekken #arcade #arcadecabinet #minines
Here's a quick sped up video of the #NEScade In action #pigrrl #waveshare #8bitdo #raspberrypi #Mario #tekken #arcade #arcadecabinet #minines #nespro30
And here it is finally. The #NEScade I will also be filming a YouTube video to give you a bit more detail about my build and how you can make one yourself! Thanks again @nicecow for 3d printing the marquee. Looks amazing! #pigrrl #waveshare #8bitdo #nespro30 #raspberrypi #Mario #tekken #arcade #arcadecabinet #minines
Here are the stages of my #NEScade. Entirely made from wood and glue, painted to match the style of a #NES and hopefully it should house everything snuggly. During the painting process I was also doing the electronics to see if if everything fits properly and for some reason the screen would not work at all! So frustrating as I have a working #PlayCubeStation which was essentially the same thing!
As you can also see i’ve left the marquee out as I’m waiting for @nicecow to print it out for me 😉

Quick review - A week into these bad boys
First of all I’m not a Sound expert in any sense of the word but I do love good quality headphones and these surpassed my expectations!
So I’ve had numerous headphones over the years. Starting from those cheap earphones or the ones that get packaged with your phone that usually break after a few months to fairly expensive pairs. I say fairly cos I usually wait till there’s a deal then buy them.
But it’s only in the passed 2 years I got into wireless headphones. Yes you have to charge them and yes it uses your battery from your devices but you always have the option to use the wires and yes there’s a debate of whether you lose sound quality etc etc. I started off with the August EP650 as it was cheap and just wanted to how the quality differs from regular headphones and from then I thought wireless was the way to go for me. A year later I upgraded to a pair of Sony MDR-ZX770BN as they boasted noise cancellation. Ye they didn’t do a great job with the noise cancellation but the sound quality was much nicer than the August. So jumping ahead a few more months bose finally released their qc35 which has the same capabilities as the qc25’s. Which was absolutely perfect! Biggest draw back was the price. At £289 (I got mine for £260 :p) it’s a little steep for a pair of headphones. But with the premium price you get a premium product. And just look at it! Its sexy af!
So first of all the synching was easy as turning on your Bluetooth and pairing the devices together or via NFC. The qc35′s have a pretty cool feature when you turn on the device it will tell you how much battery you have left and what devices you’re connected to. And funny enough I’ve synced the headphones to my phone and ipod at the same time! It doesn’t mean it will play music at the same but it can for example; If you’re playing music on your ipod and then all of a sudden play a YouTube video on your phone it will output the video sound from the phone and disable the sound on the ipod….. If that makes sense..
What made me a little annoyed about the qc35 is the rewind and fast-forward controls on the headphones. You have to tap the middle button (also used for the pause button) twice to fast-forward and three times to rewind. And its pretty easy to accidentally hit the pause button instead which means your always having to tap the button several times to get what you want.
Also I expected that if you have a bluetooth headphone you’re able to just plug the audio jack to the headphones and to your audio device to save on battery. Weirdly the qc35 does not allow you to do this. As soon as I plugged in the headphone jack to the headphones and my iPod and press play the audio was not coming out of the headphones unless I switched on the Bluetooth on the headphones. Really strange! Unless you have to completely deplete the battery (it’s still at 50% after a week so I can’t test that yet). If anyone knows why please do let me know.
I’ve also tried out the qc25’s in terms of noise cancellation and the qc35’s comes in almost exactly as good as the qc25’s. Where it really shines are on busy tube journeys; I get the train 5 days a week and nothing is worse than getting on a busy tube! The qc35’s drowns out the sound with ease but it’s not to say that it’ll drown all sounds completely, you will still hear some noise around you and when you take the headphones off you immediately here the difference. So in a working environment its a pretty bad idea using them cos you'll definitely won't hear the person next to if they're trying to get your attention.
The music sound quality is very crisp and not so bassy which is great as I'm not that of a bass fan. There's not that much sound leak neither, so you can turn up your guilty pleasure songs as much as you want! I do experience some cut outs in-between songs when I’m going out for a jog, I’m not sure whether this is because i’m streaming Spotify on my phone and have really bad connection or whether it’s the bluetooth connection between my phone and the headphones. Let’s see what happens in the next few months.
Does it warrant an upgrade from your qc25’s? Probably not unless you really want the wireless functionality. Is it worth the price? I'm gunna say yes and no. It's definitely a great product. But at just under £300 it's definitely the most expensive headphones I've bought. I mean, imagine what you can spend with £289?! But on the other hand I see it more of an investment, I don't see myself getting another pair of headphones in a while. Should you get the qc25’s? I think I saw the qc25’s selling for around £160 so unless you really want the wireless functionality the qc25’s does just as good as a job the qc35 does. Are these the best headphones I’ve head? hell frigging yes it is!
Oh deadpool.😀
And here's a sped video of the frankenboy
This was my latest project. I raspberry pi with retropie installed inside a gameboy case. It can play most emulators fairly well
