This was never how you had wanted things to go, in fact, you’d done everything you could to make sure it didn’t. Though perhaps you shouldn’t be so surprised, it wasn’t as if life had ever been particularly kind to either of you before this.

So why had you foolishly thought that this time would be any different?

Laying there, with your strength rapidly fading, you couldn’t help but stare as your companion cried, the sight both mystifying you, and rending your heart painfully in two, part of you torn between the desire to either comfort them, or push them away entirely.

Truthfully, you had always thought that they had simply tolerated your continued presence in their life, especially since you were well aware that you were probably quite annoying to someone like themself, acting as more of a burden than anything else. Even the people around you, commented on the truly impressive level of tolerance they showed when it came to you, often joking about the day when your ever stoic companion’s patience, would finally run out.

If you were being honest, it was something you had been silently waiting for too.

With all of that in mind, sneaking away to succumb to your wounds on your own, once you had realised just how severe they were, had seemed like the most logical choice. A decision that had only solidified further, when one of them had ended up becoming badly infected.

Even if there was nothing else you could do for your companion, you had at least wanted to save them the trouble of wasting so much energy trying to save someone who was most likely going to die no matter what they did. Especially given how hard it had been as of late, just to get hold of enough supplies to scrape by.

As you stared up at them now however, wide eyed at their expression of pure desperation and agony, you couldn’t help but wonder if you had been wrong.

As you might of noticed, I’ve had serious issues with my laptop lately, and honestly it’s frustrated me to tears multiple times. It’s been on its way out for a long time, we all know that, and whilst I really didn’t want to do it, I think I finally need to just make this post.

First let me say that you are by no means obligated to donate to me. I am not withholding my usual content from you, nor am I saying that you have to support me in this way. Even once this laptop gives out completely, I will still try and find a way to get my writing done and ready for you all, it’s just going to be much harder to do so.

That being said, if you could donate even $1 I would be incredibly grateful. Even if only half of you did so, I would be able to purchase the laptop I need.

Sighing as the noise outside your door seemed to grow even louder, you silently pulled out your headphones and selected your loudest playlist, easily tuning out the faint commotion you could hear over the top of the music, before returning to the task you had been trying to complete in the first place.

With how often battles seemed to break out right outside your door, you were starting to wonder if you should look into some means of soundproofing, even though you knew it was likely well outside your budget.

You’d actually moved twice in the past, in an attempt to escape the noise, only to find that the place you had moved to was just as bad, if not worse, than the last. Part of you was almost convinced that the fights were following you, though you knew it was rather unlikely.

It wasn’t like it was even the same groups of heroes or villains that kept breaking out into fights each time, and though you hadn’t bothered trying to find out their reasons, you doubted any of them coincided either.

Honestly, you were starting to wonder if you didn’t just have a secret bad luck quirk of some kind, because at this point it was starting to get a little ridiculous.
