My boyfriend is currently in the army and deployed. We haven't been dating that long but I know I'm going to marry that man, even though we are young. I'm 20 and he's 21. I tell my parents how happy I am with him because I've never felt like this before. My mom tells me I'm so happy because the relationship is a fantasy, because he's gone and I'm left to imagine what it would be like to have him here. Thoughts?

I'm sorry she said something like that! That's not fair, she should be supportive of your relationship. I get how that could make you feel. I should just try and explain that you don't agree with how she feels. Parents don't always agree with us. I got married at 19 so I know how it feels to be young and in that situation.

It's a complicated situation but we promised each other we wouldn't see anyone else. He left almost four weeks ago for basic, he promised me he would write me ur I haven't got anything yet. I know it takes awhile for them to be able to write, I just feel like maybe I am waiting for them to come and they never will or that he isn't even thinking about me. Is this a common feeling?

I wouldn't stress about it to much, they get busy and they don't get a lot of time to write. Just stay calm and be patient, things will all work out ❤️

Advice?

I know that I need to keep myself busy while he’s away. But the time just seems to be creeping by SO SLOW. I know I’m lucky to be able to talk to him daily. (He’s away training, not deployed). The worst thing about talking to him is that the conversations seems to become more one-sided as each day passes. He usually talks to me about everything going on and about how he’s feeling but now it’s kinda just me sharing that. I guess you could say that I’m feeling a little disconnected lately.. 

My question would be, is this normal? How do you cope with it? Would you talk to you SO about this, or just try to deal on your own? 

I’ve never in my life felt this way with him, and it is the worst feeling in the entire world. I want to talk to him about it but at the same time, I don’t want to worry him. I want him to see me staying strong and not breaking down. He doesn’t need to see me at my worst while he’s away. :/ 

Answer: I feel like it is normal. Sometimes it’s hard when there away to keep the conversation going, I just try not to get to upset about it because I know when he’s back it’ll go back to normal. Telling him might help because sometimes they don’t even know they’re doing it, so if you bring it to their attention sometimes that may fix it. I know you want to look out for him but remember you’re important to so make sure to look out for yourself as well!

Do you have any advice for new navy girlfriends and how to adjust to the changes in her relationship with her sailor? Also, am I silly for being absolutely terrified?

I guess the best advise is stay busy, and make sure you have a good support system! It's not silly to be terrified! It's a crazy adventure, just trust your love in each other and that will get you through anything.

Advice??

Sorry this was to long for a message….

I met my boyfriend on tumblr. We talked as online friends for at least 6 months if not longer (he was in army and got out during this time) but we talked everyday; even just to check in on eachother. We found out we lived only 1 hour apart so we decided to meet in person. We’ve been going on dates and hanging out in person for the past 5 months. Few weeks ago we officially became a couple. Anyway, I still think about Joining the Air Force… He knew I had thought about it due to our chats on tumblr. But he doesn’t know I still think of it…

He grew up in the Military lifestyle, his family is mostly military and he recently got out of the Army. So he understands how it works and distance. He told me he’s used to it as we each r currently separated on vacation for a month. I was iffy about not seeing him so long but he told me that he’s used to that kinda thing. So he acted like it wasn’t a big deal to not be able to talk hardly….

But anyway I’m scared to bring it up cause don’t wanna lose our relationship… I’m on cloud 9 with him and he’s seriously amazing and everything I look for. But I also still have deep longing in my heart to Join…. That I can’t get rid of. What’s ur opinion/advice??

Answer: @love-and-beauty21 I think that if you really want to join you should! First you have to think about yourself and what will make you happy, and if joining the Air Force will do that i say go for it! If he loves you he will be supportive in your decision. You’ll regret not doing it because of a guy!

We’ve grown a lot together over the past two and a half years. Both finding our way in the world and I’m happy we’re doing it together. Cause figuring things out on your own is hard without that moral support. It’s a feeling of relief realizing you’re not in this alone. He definitely is my partner for this life, we’ve worked through multiple obstacles, maybe not with a lot of ease but with determination to work together. That’s what a relationship is about, working together, supporting one another’s goals, and constantly loving each other no matter how hard it gets.
