Are milsos still active on here? It’s been a minute since any of us really have been active on this blog.

A lot has happened in my life personally over the last year. We had our first baby, a beautiful baby girl and my husband officially separated from the Navy in January.

If you’re still here, drop some love, send in some questions. I’d love to re-engage this blog and answer questions from my new perspective as a mom and now navy veteran spouse (especially if your significant other is transitioning back to civilian life), I’d be happy to give some input.

Why I Trust the Quality of the Calls

That bittersweet moment when his waiver gets lost which means that he’s currently not deployable (which we love), but that also means he can’t do all of the training he needs to do in order to start his new job (which we don’t love). Fortunately it sounds like everybody is working their butts off to get everything situated, but it feels like stress after stress keeps hitting my man and I’m not here for it.

Just to share a happy vibe today: he's out of state training for his new job right now, I told him I was probably gonna order DoorDash for dinner, so he asked me what I wanted and did it for me so he could pay for it for me. And it was just the sweetest thing ever (he was also on the phone with me when I was at the store and insisted I buy the food I've been craving for weeks but have been refusing to buy).

How do ya'll make friends at new duty stations?? We have been here a year and I still have no friends. Its hard because I work from home full time and don't have any kids and I'm 26 years old. There aren't many base sponsored events where we are at and if there are any they are geared towards moms who don't work and so I feel like there is no good way for me to meet people. It doesnt help that I am also pretty shy when it comes to meeting new people

I know this struggle all too well girl! I’ve found some of my best friends by finding a base affiliated *fill in branch here* wives Facebook page! Or get on bumble friends! I usually just go on the page and post an honest post looking for friends! I say something about myself and what I like to do. And be honest about how much you work in the post but say you want a friend that you can meet for lunch once a week! Or even just go to the occasional craft night.

The other option is to post that you are hosting a craft night! Or married game night. That will ease the anxiety about being shy because your husband will also be there to hangout ☺️

met this person; he is currently stationed in a city that is literally just about an hour away from me, but i just found out today that he is getting his new new orders soon and he’ll be leaving in august. But, the thing is i’m not sure what we are doing considering we’ve been talking for about a month and i met him and his friends already. His friends loved me and all, but now i have to have the “what are we doing?” talk before he ends up shipping out to his next station. what should i do?

Ask him what yall are and if you BOTH want to keep this up. There is no shame if it ends here and theres no shame if it keeps up.  You have to be open with him and let him know what you are feeling. If you still want a relationship or just end it.

Vent I guess? I have unnatural colors in my hair and I always feel bad whenever I have to go around my husband’s superiors. I always feel like I’m not a presentable wife even though he assures me my colored hair is fine. I’m always scared my peacock hair will make his superiors question his judgement.

They could honestly care less about your hair. He married you, they didn’t, so who cares what they think. It has no impact on his abilities to do his job, his work ethic, or who he is as a person. He married someone who is a free spirit and enjoys wild hair colors. The only opinions that matter are his.

I grew up in the Corps and was very adamant that I would not ever be with someone military. Guess who went and fell head over heels for a service member 1500 miles away from her. This chick. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Send help. I would fall in love during a pandemic.

VENT. My husband was told by his command that they're getting an exception to the stop movement order and sending him on deployment on the original schedule, which is soon, pandemic or not. I am so angry and defeated. I can't believe they'd go through with it when international travel isn't safe yet. I know I signed up for military recklessness, but I thought the risks would be gunfire, bombs, and PTSD, not a novel viral infection causing strokes and destroying lungs in young, healthy people.

Anon I am sorry I’ll be the first one to say (and will tell i die) that the Military isnt built with the smartest people. The military wants everyone to be ready for the call of duty even if it means putting them at risk. 

Try to keep hope up and be positive (i know hard) things will get better

My ex has PTSD...but from his past marriage. He is a fighter pilot, but terrified of ME and loving me. His first day of therapy is today. I know he’s trying. He tells me he loves me and misses me—but he has never said he needs me. It’s like a mental block he has. He has admitted he has problems with being verbally emotional with me. I just want him to get help. To be healthy. I wish I knew how to love him in a way he could receive. He said he’ll let me know how it goes 😞

Anon we can’t always love away the bad stuff (if this makes sense) I know you want to help me and be there for him but if this is a mental block of his HE needs to get through it. Even though all you want to do is help him heal sometimes it doesnt work like that (coming from a mental illness pov)

It will get better as long as he keeps up therapy.

My boyfriend is stationed a plane ride away. We get to see each other only on the weekend but still pretty frequently. Everytime I leave I am a crying mess. I think it might be separation anxiety since his return from his last deployment (11 months). Any suggestions to alleviate the tears?

It’s never easy parting from your significant other. Make a plan for yourself of things you’re going to do when you get back home to help pass the time until you see him again. Staying busy will help you feel better.

Pro tip - if your SO is gone for an extended timeframe, don't watch shows that show your celebrity crush in a way that makes them a million times hotter (and look a little too much like your SO) and/or that involves some very hot ~adult~ scenes that could involve said actor. It is almost guaranteed you will want certain things that you cannot have until your SO is home. So I guess there will be zero watching of The Witcher in this home until my husband is home. Damn you, Henry Cavill, damn you.

What are some cute first date ideas from when your S/O comes back from their deployment?

We literally ordered take out and stayed home. You’re not going to want to leave your house once he’s back for at least the first 48 hours 😂

(vent) it's officially been a month since I heard from my husband. I've been doing well this underway since I've been keeping busy with work and such, but this week I've worked from home due to crazy local weather, and tonight it just really hit me. I hate this. I just want to read that he's okay since all we have is email. I miss my best friend so much right now it hurts. I can't even tell him I'm struggling because that'll get flagged and screened out. This blows a bag of dicks.

Just remember no news is good news.

a little thing bc i’m new at this. i’ve been good friends with my now bf for years and over the holiday break we decided to properly give this relationship thing a shot. the problem is, i’m in college in cali where we’re from and he’s at usna... i don’t know what to expect and like what he’s going to be expecting from me... i’m not sure how much the normal milso stuff applies to an academy so but i do feel rather validated in some feelings seeing certain posts in the tag

Communication is key to making LDR’s work, as well as making time for each other.
