Jeremy had seen death. It was neither peaceful nor violent. It just was. After witnessing the death of his grandmother, Jeremy's life begins to spiral. Battling addiction amidst his first year at USC, he finds himself repeatedly meeting strange figures who take their games a little too seriously. For a long time, he thinks it's just a stroke of bad luck. When he meets Jean Moreau in a dim, neon diner playing two-man Texas Hold 'Em, he comes to realize that luck had been on his side after all—and it was about to run out. Death Parade style AU, also loosely inspired by the short story "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omela's."
