If clay terran were to be "too much backstory" bc he was new and never hinted at in aa4...why isnt dahlia too much backstory? she was never mentioned in aa1 or aa2. it was never mentioned that phoenix had a girlfriend before aa3, why isnt iris and dahlia "too much backstory for phoenix?" can things only ever be decent backstory when the character is of the fey family? diego isnt a fey tho. why isn't diego armando too much backstory for mia? and besides that argument doesnt answer why that was ok as a backstory for phoenix? he doesnt need to have a girlfriend to be connected to the fey. And what about franziska? is she acceptable to add to the franchise ONLY because she is linked to von karma and edgeworth? her character by herself would mean nothing?

Ok so what about lana skye? why wasnt she too much backstory to mia? She is not related to the fey, isnt that too much backstory for mia who is not even the main character? 🤨

And by the same logic, what about big top and aa2-1 and what about the stolen turnabout? Do these case build onto the fey story? "big top doesnt exist" why, just bc you don't like it? it is part of 123 though. It's 1/4 of aa2.

Now we backtrack again. So every single character who is added mid-way in a series and isnt already related to another character is too much backstory? Well then, why IS jove's Death too much backstory? jove was mentioned in aa4.

and if so, why isnt all of aa4 just "awful" because aa4 introduced a bunch of characters who arent related to aa123? why does it get a pass? is it just because aa4 is the "beginning" of a trilogy? But why tho? It is literally AA Four not AA One. See how arbitrary all those cut-offs are?

"aa456 is bad because the gramarye story never got finished." why do you think it's not finished? is it just because thalassa didnt tell apollo and trucy the truth? or do you just want a repeat of the fey story? what about franziska in aa2 saying she would return and battle phoenix? why is her storyline finished perfectly? she never did what she said she would, she just mellowed out. why is it ok for her to mellow out offscreen but we MUST see the end of thalassa-trucy-apollo's reunion onscreen lest 456 would be shit? And by the same logic, cant i say that 123 is not finished because we never saw diego armando heal? or because we never saw pearl's reaction to knowing what happened to her sisters?

ppl running out of reasons to hate on dd and soj really. They saw a hate bandwagon, jumped on it and then realised they now have to enforce crazy double standards for the hate to make sense. frankly, if you hate dd and soj but you dont really know why, ask yourself if your criticism is not just a knee-jerk reaction that is fueled by your wish to be part of a community
