another day of feeling immensely lucky that i get to witness the absolute generational beauty that is max verstappen on a race track.
ah yes the battle of who has more battery. exactly the reason I watch formula 1.
not his peanits again :/
i know it won't really be acknowledged as the biggest points overturn unless he actually manages to win the wdc, but i want to stress how mightily impressive max's comeback has been so far. 68 points in 5 races is already well over the 'official' biggest point gap (46pts) that he made up over charles in 2022. not to mention it's just one point shy of the deficit lando had last year with 14 races to go. all this with not one, but two other wdc contenders in the way. there's a reason why people refuse to write him off even when every statistic or precedent suggests it's impossible. he's a force of nature.
Angel Piqueras (co-signed by others it seems) saying that he thinks if the Moto3 class still had warm-ups then the crash never would have happened because Noah seemed to have a technical problem is just….
Like they got rid of Moto2 and Moto3 warmups so that they could stuff the 22 riders into a cardboard box and parade them around for fan experience and while yes it may be fun to watch and see the track parade interviews, sacrificing safety (which is paramount in this sport) especially regarding teenagers for the sake of adding nothing of value to the MotoGP product is insane. I always hated it when they did it and especially when you get (apparently avoidable) incidents like these and changes to schedules, it makes you wonder what’s really important.
Also of course I hope we hear a good update regarding Noah soon as MotoGP just released one on Jose Antonio 🙏🏼
i think the thing that pisses me off so much about the suggestion that f1 cuts practice sessions in favour of more sprints (and therefore also sprint quali) is that the practice sessions are not there for the audience. it's not some super special moral superiority oh you don't watch the practice sessions, you're not a real fan competition, it is a fundamental part of the sport. it's there for the drivers and teams to set up the car and try new things out, and test certain things for their strategies. it has a massive impact on how they then run the car in the actual race, and by trying to get rid of it because, very fucking understandably fewer people watch it, f1 is effectively reducing the amount of actual sport in this sport. which is insane. you cannot rely on simulation alone for these things, multiple drivers have pulled out laps that go beyond simulated ideals, multiple drivers have performed in ways that the engineers simply could not anticipate or predict. these practice sessions matter. they are part of what makes f1 an actual sport, and not just some motorised version of wwe. let f1 be a sport
not a single day in his life goes without saying fuck them kids
Okay, gonna rant for a minute.
The way Team Penske treated Will is fucking disgusting.
You’re telling me that back in 2023 when the man was having the worse year of his life because, you know, his wife almost died, Tim Cindric and the other high ups at Penske were like “oh, getting the 2022 champions has sent him over the cliff.” and started planning his departure from the team.
The fact that he bounced back the next year, that he was the one driver of genuinely given the fucking once in a gen that is Alex Palou only to be let down by a seatbelt issue meant nothing.
Tim said they would talk about it and just left him hanging.
Roger didn’t even know Tim had said that to him even though this was months before the man’s firing over attenuator-gate.
Folk need to understand, when he went for the chance of being Helio’s sub during the Brazilian’s race with the IRS, he signed that contract knowing he might not even be needed.
He impressed in one race so much that the number 12 car was brought in just for him as part time seat in 2009 and, even when he ended up with a broken back at practice in Sonoma, a full time one from 2010 onwards.
He paid that back so many times over either fighting for the championship himself or supporting teammates in their endeavours.
Even the year that JPM crashed into him when they were both in the hunt, Will played rear gunner to the Colombian because JPM had the better chance of winning the championship.
The other teams have tried to throw money at him and he declined. He barely negotiated his own contracts so I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s getting a lot less than someone with his results should be getting.
Hell! He was willing to do a one year contract back in May and heard nothing.
Instead Roger said he could start informally talking to teams.
Sixteen years of his devotion and that’s it.
Maybe they were hoping he would just retire and go into the mentor role that Dario has at Ganassi, it just seems nobody seemed to of told Will that.
So instead you have a guy who won two championships and a 500 for Penske, who took the most poles in the history of the sport and fourth on the all time wins list just walk.
And he deserved so much more better.
I don’t understand when people say “Back to 33 Max” like it’s a bad thing. 33 Max drove like a champion even before he was one. People called him “inevitable” cause they knew once he had a good enough car there would be nothing stopping him- and he proved that to be true, four times over. If he has to go back to 33 next year, nothing changes. He will still drive the same. 1 or 33, he will still drive like a winner.
MCLAREN INDYCAR DRIVER SALARIES
Everything is from this and this Nathan Brown acticle. (big day for nosy people)
Pato O'Ward: $4 million (2026), $4.2 million (2027) + $2 million bonus
Alex Palou (hypothetically, according to the contract that fell through): $9 million over 3 years (2024-2026) + performance bonuses
Christian Lundgaard: $200,000 (2024 offseason), $1.55 million (2025), $2 million (2026) and $2.75 million (2027)
David Malukas: $25,000 (zero races)
Callum Ilott: $50,000 (3 races)
Théo Porchaire: $87,500 (5 races + a sixth replacing rossi, idk if that one is included in the number)
Nolan Siegel: PAID the team (!) $1.25 million to run the rest of the 2024 races. Unknown how much he is paying them this year.
i know it was just a sprint win but marc getting his first win at the REDBULL ring after all these years when he’s now not a redbull athlete is hilarious
“how do you beat marc?” “you don’t.”
Whatever anon has made those F1 Lestappen kink fics (the needles and fear play ones) you have my heart. The way the negotiation and scene and aftercare all dance together to create a full scene is just beautiful.
Mystery writer you have rewritten my brain and I’m obsessed
who's been the best driver this season and why is it max verstappen?
oh my god sorry to mcl mutuals but none of them have that dawg in them omfg its a mild disagreement at most not a championship fight
The way I just do not care about the McLaren dominating, it's so boring, half-ass fighting on track, barely concealed team tactics to keep 'em separated, no aura on wins, bring back Max Verstappen fighting Charles Leclerc for wins like in 2022.
