Lost
Recently I had some bad luck. I was hunting Circadian Sleepers and the Sleepers fell to my drones as expected, everything went smoothly.
But then not only one but three Tyrannos Drifter battleships dropped on me and my cruiser couldn’t repel firepower of that magnitude!
Lost my VNI, but rescued my pod.
Strange thing: immediately after they appeared on my overview, I selected a celestial and hit warp! But i took bloody ages to aligned, I think it was because it I was currently aligned exactly to the opposite direction and hab my AB on. Better luck next time!
Quick Market Advice
If you’re planning to get a Machariel, currently would be a great moment to get one. The prices keep dropping from the usual 510 to 520 mil, to currently around 460 to 470 mil.

Seeker Hunting
Lately Neville Smit brought me to the idea of farming the Circadian Sleepers for Antikythera Elements. I'm not any kind of producer, but thought it'd be fun. So I fitted up a Vexor Navy Issue I had lying around (bought them cheaply some time ago) and followed mainly his fit:
[Vexor Navy Issue, High-Sec Circadian Seeker Hunter] 400mm Crystalline Carbonide Restrained Plates Medium Armor Repairer II Prototype Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Damage Control II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Federation Navy Stasis Webifier 10MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner
250mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Federation Navy Lead Charge M 250mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Federation Navy Lead Charge M Drone Link Augmentor II Small Tractor Beam I
Medium Hybrid Collision Accelerator I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Hobgoblin II x5 Hammerhead II x5 Vespa EC-600 x5 Federation Navy Lead Charge M x2500
Firepower, tank and speed are increased over Nevilles plain Vexor while maintaining cap stability and so I thought I'd be golden. Tank had to be meta since I'm usually flying shield fits and hence my armor skills are a bit behind. Another change applied to the guns. As long as the Seekers are orbiting you at 1.2km/s you won't hit them with most of the time so I decided I want at least something with a decent optimal matching my web range and went for medium rails instead of the blasters. Even with applied web these guys keep a very high transversal so tracking them with turrets is a challenge. Main source of DPS are the drones anyway, which hit them quite well. So on paper the VNI is superior in every aspect as expected.
Eventually I took the ship out to caldari space and was hunting Seekers. The Schildwall was a great help to find systems with a Jove Observatory, which is a guarantee for sleepers. But sometimes it also makes a home for those Tyrannos battleships. These suckers hurt! They caught me twice and first volley were between 2500 and 3800(!), but I always managed to warp off before another hit.
Tactics for killing Seekers is dead simple: find them. Make sure no Tyrannos is present. Orbit one at 12km and turn on every module. Rinse and repeat. After the second time an explorer ninja looted one of my wrecks I throw the tractor on, so I can loot while I shoot. Watch out for the second spawn, that will show up if you have killed the first wave except one or two. The initial alpha will sometimes kind of test your tank, but i managed to always keep the armor above 45%, mostly above 90% with permarepping. :)
Next step would be a larger hull to speed up the hunt. Stay tuned.
Update
Been quite a while, since I wrote something in this blog. So here’s an update on my latest operations.
I had some good time running level 4 missions fro the SoE and making fairly good money with it. My trustworthy Gila can easily runs even the hardest missions without warping out - if you are careful.
It fits is like this:
[Gila, mission runner] Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II
Shield Recharger II Shield Recharger II Shield Recharger II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II
Rapid Light Missile Launcher II, Inferno Fury Light Missile Rapid Light Missile Launcher II, Inferno Fury Light Missile Rapid Light Missile Launcher II, Inferno Fury Light Missile Rapid Light Missile Launcher II, Inferno Fury Light Missile Drone Link Augmentor II
Medium Core Defense Field Purger II Medium Core Defense Field Purger II Medium Core Defense Field Purger II
Hammerhead II x2 Vespa II x2 Valkyrie II x2 Infiltrator II x2 Salvage Drone I x4 I do carry a Mobile Tractor Unit and do salvaging on the fly. This is devastating for the ISK/hr ratio, but I really care more about having my fun and leaving a clean space behind me.
Surely it is overtanked because it was originally meant to run C3 Sleeper sites, but this comes in handy for higher DPS missions. Also it’s painfully slow! You really need to bring time on some missions where the rats are spread or far away. Tactics with this ship basically involves setting an orbit of about 60km, releasing the drones and MTU and enjoying the show.
Now that my SoE standings are excellent, I plan to move on and do the same with Thukker Mix. LP to ISK ratio is excellent with Thukker and it is near my old home in the south east of New Eden.
I can’t say I’m looking forward to relocation, but whatever :) Recently I’m toying around with another ship and fittings. The Vexor Navy Issue is such a fun boat to fly and provides enormous firepower with its drone bonuses. Currently the fit is like this:
[Vexor Navy Issue, Drone Party Boat] Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer II Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Damage Control II
100MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner Large F-S9 Regolith Compact Shield Extender Large F-S9 Regolith Compact Shield Extender Cap Recharger II
Drone Link Augmentor II Salvager I Dual Afocal Light Maser I, Radio S Small Tractor Beam I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II Medium Core Defense Field Extender II Medium Core Defense Field Purger I
Warrior II x5 Valkyrie II x5 Republic Fleet Berserker x5
Should be boring in level 3s and a blast in level 4 missions. I’ll keep you updated.

Boosting abililties
Suitonia has a very insightful analysis on Off Grid Boosters (OGB).
I’m currently training a OGB alt myself and hence were interested in the topic as I stumbled upon that post. The proposed changes are imho quite reasonable and I’m pretty curious if and how CCP will change the ways OGBs work.
I was planning to use my alt primarily in missions to clear sites faster and have a little buffer in case of ganking attempts, but I assume it valuable if I’d join a corp some day.
Track this
Nearly evertime I do some EFT-warrioring or fitting games in general I can’t remember which tracking modules are for which purpose.
As usually someone on reddit had an answer:
As a general rule of thumb Angular velocity is the Largest contributor to how well turrets hit, Tracking Computer with Tracking script in most cases is the best way to go for turrets. Target painters are best with missiles and Omnidirectional Tracking Links for drones.

Mission Gila
Lately I came to run my first level 3 missions for the SoE. I’m using the Gila fit pictured above, which in fact turned out to be massively overtanked. The shields never drop below 60%, so I guess it’ll be feasible to drop one SPR for another DDA or a Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer to deal with frigate size rats - the medium drones tend to have some difficulties catching them.
Tactics are dead simple with this ship: warp in, release drones according to the appropriate damage type, drop MTU and pull range. Target nearest rats, (frigate size first, because they are the only real danger to your drones) and kill one after the other.
In preparation for the following level 4 missions I’m currently training an alt into a remote repping Dominix. Already excited about me small mission running fleet. \o/
Fly safe! o7
Skill training completed!
Thank Bob, I waited for that moment sooo long! \o/ Finally I got every skill to jump into a Stratios.
To nulsec! And beyooooond!
Actually I'm rather not gonna risk this beauty in dangerous space but expand my w-space exploring activities. The relic sites recently proved themselves quite profitable. With a reasonable fit it should even be able to run C1-2 anomalies.
Polite Wrecks
Recently I had an encounter in a asteroid belt (yeah, I'm doing some mining currrently, since I can do it on a second notebook during work. DON'T TELL ANYONE!). So there was some guy flying around in a thrasher and asking people if he could loot their rat's wrecks. Since I'm a nice person I of course invited him to get whatever he can carry. I use to abandon my wrecks anyway.
There were two things remarkable to this: firstly the guy kindly asked, instead of just taking other folks stuff. I really appreciate polite people! Secondly he obviously didn't know what the color markings on the wrecks mean, although he was an character about a year old. Explanation could be found here by the way.
An HiSec encounter
Yesterday I had my first actual suicide gank in hisec. Got to witness it from the frontrow, because I was the victim. It was pretty classical.
In preparation of the shuttle BPCs arriving today, I decided that a bit of concurrent mining wouldn't hurt. There was my trusty old Retriever sitting in Minmatar HiSec and so I took her out to the next belt. To make this short, after some cycles a Procurer showed up and bumped me. At first I thought it was a mistake, but as I saw her turn for another round I smelled the trap. Already to late! A few seconds later the classic Catalyst warped in, landed on top of me and immediately opened fire. I wasn't aligned again and popped after only some salvos. At least I was able to save my pod.
On my warp back to the station I remembered that I came to the system in a Thrasher! Ha, screw you bastard! Gonna get ya! Unfortunatly the Thrasher was PvE-fit and after the time it took me to fix that my attacker had already logged off.
Sucker!
I'll see you soon. And then I'll send your pod to Bob!
TIL - Missions & Standings
Before starting to build standings with any corp make sure you know where your higher level agents will be located.
I missed that and ended up with good standings for Boundless Creations. Their lvl3 agents are all in LoSec and to get there you would need to get into a LoSec are which entries are ridiculously perma-gatecamped and hence it'd nearly impossible to bring a Battlecruiser in there to run any higher level missions. FML.
By the way also check the loyality point store and if the rewards are at least half-decent!
TIL – overview
Today I lost my Astero to a stupid mistake. So here's my advice:
If you did not already modify your overview settings and add the Drifters battleships!
Long story short — I discovered one of these new Tiamat Drifter unidentified wormholes in HiSec and decided to take some pictures. So I warped in and began orbiting the structure. But hadn't adjusted my overview.
Although I was cloaked it came like it had to: got too near to a battleship, got popped. Well f*ck.
Still I'm not sure if I got under 2k distance or the Drifters were able to discover me even cloaked. I tend to reckon the first. I make make mistakes, so you don't have to!
TIL – Contracting
First entry of a series of my personal TILs in Eve Online.
To create a contract you neither need to be in the same station with the good you're planning to trade, nor is there a special skill needed to contract remotely!
Simply choose the stuff to trade from the your personal assets, right click, choose 'Create contract', done.
m)
This Morning
I discovered by a quick glance at my wallet, that someone finally accepted the contract over a Dark Blood Control Tower BPC. I got that from a relic site in w-space and the contract added a billion ISK to my fortune. By far the most valuable loot I got so far in my exploration career!
Salvaging Talwar
EVE online has a steep leraning curve and hence I always aprecciated any information that helped me master one situation or the other and guided me through the pitfalls. Time to give something back to the prospering community!
In case someone new to EVE online is interested and also for my later reference, this microblog will contain stuff I experience in the game or found out about it.
The following is the fit I use to salvage missioning remains. I wanted it to be cap stable so you can salvage continously with all salvagers and to have enough cargo space to carry the MTU back home.
Just drop your MTU at the beginning of the fights and after clearing the site come back with the Talwar to pick up the good stuff.
Cheap and agile ship (we're looking at about 4m to 4.5m ISK), quick with max speed at 1461m/s at all V and enough cargo for loot and salvage.
