First off, most social medias are not authorized for people below the age of 13, if not 16 or more for some. So if children are there when they’re not of age, they should reconsider why they chose to not follow these guidelines.

Second, others are not responsible for the content you or the algorythm makes you consume. If something triggering ends up on your dash, this is not the original author’s fault most of the time.

Third of all, filtering EXISTS. And if you are truly triggered by something, USE THE TOOLS GIVEN TO YOU BY THE PLATFORM.

I’ve had ENOUGH of seeing renaissance paintings censored for “female presenting nipples” because children decide not to follow guidelines and instead the platform has to strike EVERYONE as a result.

okay but that last bit is so true. like - i personally do not want to see smutty or gory stuff and i’m really grateful for the filtering system cause it works well most of the time. but i can’t get away from the ads with gore and sexual content on youtube or - especially youtube, honestly, they’re really bad about it and anyways. social media’s filtering systems are a wonderful tool and i personally am very grateful for them!!
