girl who sat next to me at the coffee shop had that Tortured By Computer Work look in her eye so i turned to her and was like Are u doing research? and it turns out she (white) just started working as an indigenous liaison for an ecological wellness surveying company (hired bc she worked with the local nation for a year) so i was like OMG can i share resources with you. and whipped out my 1 million notes and academic papers on ethical Indigenous-settler relations/research and Indigenous perspectives on ecological restoration. she was like omg are u sure this is basically a whole course for free and i wanted to tear my shirt off liek YES!!!! I WANT TO PROMOTE LOW BARRIER EDUCATION TO ADVANCE DECOLONIZATION AND RECONCILIATION!!!!!!!!!!! STEP IN2 MY GOOGLE DOC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i’ve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.
as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. it’s just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. we’re small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, “i’m not here to hurt you. here’s something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know we’re on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. i’m being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.”
small talk isn’t to get to know a person. it’s just a greeting to affirm you’re buddies in the universe.
i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.
So in the meanwhile, have some clumsy Kyo trying to be the best guardian he can be even though he just left the five stars and is still unsure on how to care for Reina and Makoto.
instead of writing an essay about one (1) single thing i'm just going to word vomit mainly about the evolutions bc holy shit i love animation
love love love that proganomon's evolution to mega-level glitches out like crazy while its and klay's combined e-pulse is flashing all over the screen. sells the feeling that megas are treated as the ultimate aberration & glitch to mankind. also with the ginormous amount of e-pulse needed (not just klay's, but all the coliseum fighters and tactics team 7), this might be why so many e-pulses are interlaced with each other
as for the shape of the e-pulse, i think it's either the idea that the five stars generally have that much e-pulse in the first place, or that you NEED a lot of e-pulse from outer sources to sustain a mega-level evolution. or both!!
i say this because kyo's e-pulse was much longer than anyone else's in the show, but this is even longer than that.
having the pulse colors being orange and purple mystifies me, but i think while orange is 100% klay's element color, maybe the purple is supposed to proganomon's color

hey let's talk about kyo's ACTUAL ultimate digivolution because holy shit. he's so cool
kyo transforms his e-pulse into a raging flame that he sends cougarmon's way, and then cougarmon gets digitized (!!!!!!!!) into murasamemon all the while the e-pulse flashes across like lightning.
i love how the lines of the virtual egg are bursting with energy and electricity and ALSO look like data is being transmitted within the lines. like. it's the digital world babey!!!!!!!!!! the internet!!!!!!! the convergence of mankind and technology!!!!!!!!
okay but showing the e-pulse heartbeats perpendicular to each body part right before transforming them is such an inspired choice. ties the evolution sequence together so well.
this sets a great precedent for ultimate evolutions and i'm so excited. i can't wait to see the others get their ultimate evolutions
last thing but before murasamemon bursts out of the egg there is another set of impact frames of the e-pulse going through the egg and that's so fucking cool. hey did i mention i love impact frames a lot
