what the fuck is my life
i’ve seen this video so many times but it makes me smile every time i see it
Bayard Rustin was an openly gay Black man who was Martin Luther King’s right hand man. He planned the Million Man March and was subject to scrutiny for his sexuality and deemed a “deviant” and “pervert”.
Bayard Rustin can be found in nearly every picture of MLK yet he has undoubtedly been erased from history. We have to fix that.
Well then, let’s bring that name back.
Bayard Rustin, openly gay, human rights activist, proud black man.
(the guy on the left in case you wondered)
Yeah he was literally the guy who was the head of planning the March on Washington.
If you want to learn more about him, there’s a great documentary on him called Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin
You can watch the full documentary here (until March 31st, 2016)
I did a research project on him, Ella Baker, Claudette Colvin and Stokely Carmichael comparing their contributions to the Civil Rights Movement to the lack of recognition and misrepresentation they received in commonly used high school American History textbooks. All of these people played major roles in the Civil Rights Movement—almost on par with MLK—yet they go largely unnoticed or unfairly pushed aside not only during their time, but even now in classes on American History. These men and women deserve to be remembered.
I would also like to add Jame Baldwin to this list: writer, activist, and openly gay black man:
People they’ll never tell you about, may their stories be told now
one of my friends sent me this, and people thought i was CRAZY for preferring lowe’s over home depot. i’ve worked at lowe’s for a while, and let me tell you, they 100% pass the vibe check. they’re offering full time, paid 2-week sick leave for the virus, tuition payback, health insurance, and other benefits to all employees, not just full time. they offered us hazard pay and unlimited overtime to help employees make ends meet when their family members were laid off. we have a self-made, black CEO, Marvin Ellison, who started out working as a cashier making minimum wage, then went to school and got his masters degree, and worked his way up. we have community projects every year to donate labor and resources to build things like shelters, parks, and infrastructure, and we have a good time doing it. on top of that, they’re very diversity-driven. in my store alone, we have veteran, disabled, black, lesbian, gay, bi, and trans employees, and not ONCE has anyone been made fun of, treated differently, paid differently or even misgendered. and yep, we did donate 25m to minorities.
tl;dr: fuck home depot
.....so none of yall was gonna a tell me Lowes WAS BLACK OWNED????

ok so im losing my mind over this armada marine’s idle animation? because it looks at what it’s holding. why is it looking! what is it doing! what is the purpose of this! i don’t think it would be for the purpose of Not Having Stiff Joints because then it would move the knees right? and it wouldn’t be looking at things as the main part of the motion.
i am definitely reading way too much into this but it is so much fun
Just borrowing a gif from ya Chess-
Funny enough, Deacon does the same thing and I believe the Musketeers.
I wished I was home to show a screenshot from my files to double check it.
Guys the way he drops his cane to catch it
😍

I made a thing
OOHHH FUUBLBLBLBLB
gifted kid burnout things that no one seems to talk about:
the raw panic of hearing about your potential, positive or negative
a weird brand of imposter syndrome where you genuinely think you’ve fluked your way through every success and you’re gonna be Exposed as a Fraud
never having learned how to study and having no idea where to start now that you need to
reading college level books as a kid but being basically illiterate now
dismissing your struggles as irrelevant because other people have it harder and i should be smart enough to handle this
feeling like you’ve lost all control over your life (maybe manifesting into depression, anxiety and disordered eating in a grasp for control over something)
being unable to decide on a career path because you could have had everything, only to watch those opportunities disappear as you fail to commit
WHICH ONE OF YALL MADE THIS 😂😂😂
Every time I see this post, I remember briefly after I came out to my mother, I had to calmly and rationally explain “Women can like video games and computers too”
