Who does your muse wish they could forget?
"I...uh, I don't really want to talk about it."
Colton glanced at the pile, then back at Minu, one brow lifting with easy amusement. He had stopped caring about making his place cozy the way only a fireplace could and that was a shame. He stepped closer to the wood, crouching to inspect a piece like he knew anything beyond the this is wood, wood burns assesssment. He was a New Yorker after all...
"Sure, why not, I'll take some." he shrugged. "My fireplace has been looking a little too decorative lately, and God forbid I start using it as a place to stack unopened mail."
Straightening, he tucked the piece under one arm and shot Minu a look. "Are you alright, man?" he asked simply. || @minupark
Minu took a step back, trying to, without outright saying anything, allow Colton the space to gather as much wood as he may, or may not, want to take with him. "Yeah? Mine's still pretty basic. But, keeps the place warm, cooks an egg or two." Decoration wasn't something he'd put much thought into. However, he'd always wondered about trying his hand at wood carving. Maybe this pile of stumps could be the foundation of something new and interesting.
His ears perked up at being asked if he was alright. He felt guilty, like he had something to hide. "Huh?" He dragged a hand through his hair, scrubbing it down his face. "Yeah. Tired. I mean..." He gestured to the pile of wood with a small outward hand gesture. "Long day. You know how it is." His brows knit, eyes darting around the woodpile as he tried to find some kind of distraction from what made him uncomfortable. "You, uh, much of an outdoorsman? I'm still learning the whole...wood....stuff."

Kordelya could sense his hesitation, but decided not to make a remark, fearful of scaring him away. "Yet," she corrected, teasingly. "You haven't seen one yet. Didn't you know in Aurora Bay there are endless possibilities?" She flashes him another smile, but she subtley rolls her eyes, because the Bay isn't everything it had cracked up to be.
"Are you a weirdo?" Again, she teases. "Maybe I'm a weirdo who just serves really good coffee, who knows. Maybe we're all weirdos." She began cleaning down the countertops with a rag, whilst casting glances over towards him and the plate, seeing if she'd convinced him yet to indulge, but he was a tough buyer. Maybe if she kept him talking, he'd be too distracted to care about his own pride.
"I'm Kordelya, well Kordy. That's what everyone calls me. And I'm notoriously bad for overbuying stock, hence the leftovers." She gestured, before pointing to a few of the larger pastries squished together on his plate. "Although, those bear claws right there... I made them, and I am not a baker. No wonder there's so many left. Please tell me they're not as bad as I think they are." She waited a moment, to see if that had convinced him enough to eat.
@minupark
He exhaled out of his nose by-way of a laugh at her comment. She was right, Aurora Bay seemed to be the only place where he had a chance. And if he had a chance, who wouldn't? Maybe even those who enjoyed wielding axes at lukewarm bread. "I probably am." A small seedling of a smirk tugged at the very corners of his lips. "Been called worse, that's for sure." He looked her over again, eyes staying longer this time, actually wanting to look at her rather than just assess her threat level. She didn't seem like a 'weirdo', at least, not by his standards. But, he knew looks could be deceiving. "You could be. But, weirdos usually don't know they're weirdos. That's what makes them...y'know...weird."
He gave a small nod of acknowledgement, repeating "Kordy" in a quiet voice to help retain it. He wasn't great with names, and even worse with faces, but, if they came with pastries, he could make the effort. "You made those?" His brows raised, genuinely impressed. "How's that go? Look complicated." He looked them over, admiring their craftsmanship beyond their ability to fill a need. "You should try one, then you'll know for yourself."
@kordvlya
"Oh, yeah, same. I hate the internet, I'd much rather live in a world where it didn't exist, you know?" Not that Hunter ever indulged much in the online world anyway. He was more concerned about seeing people in person, and viewing the world in front of him, rather than on a screen.
"Do what?" He furrowed his brows together, however, kept his tone light. "Dude, if you've not had pizza in awhile then that's more of a reason to stick around. I know a great place, and they usually throw me in a free cheesy garlic bread which is just..." His forefinger and thumb came together, as he kissed them. "Delicious. We deserve it."
Without waiting, he walks inside his home, leaving the door to swing open for the other to join him. "You want any toppings?" He shouts, as he kicks off his sneakers, and positions himself onto the couch, lounging back.
@minupark
"Agreed." Minu gave a small nod of the head, not really wanting to get into it. He'd never really gotten to interact with modern technology, at least, not in a functional state. But, he knew people could find things with computers, and so, as someone who didn't want to be found, he felt the farther away from him they all were kept, the better. He crinkled his nose at the mention of cheesy garlic bread. A new concept, but one he slowly pieced together the more he allowed it to take up space in his head. "Cheesy garlic...?" He shook his head and shrugged, dismissing his own question. "Yeah,...sure." He wasn't in a position to be picky.
"Whatever. Whatever's good." Toppings weren't something he'd had to think about in a long time, he ate what he found or what was left over. Didn't leave a lot of room for decision making. He supposed it was freeing, in a way. "I eat most things." He cleared his throat, realising he should probably put in a little more effort, given what was on offer to him if he could behave long enough. "What do you, uh, what do you recommend? I, uh, I used to know a guy who loved egg and pineapple. You're not that kind of guy, are you?"

"I was just going to throw them out anyway." Kordeyla placed the selection of pastries leftover from the day, piled up on a large plate, in front of Minu. She'd seen him the last few days loitering around the shop, and instead of asking him to leave, she wanted to observe his business being there, and it didn't take her long to figure out that he was just hungry. She'd waited until closing time, when it were just the two of them alone, before approaching him with the baked goods and some leftover coffee, still in the pot.
"Please, you'd be doing me a favor." She smiled, not wanting to embarrass him, if her observations had been correct. "In return, you can watch the door whilst I close up. Stop any weirdos or axe-wielding psychopaths from coming in."
Minu was a little put-off at first, he knew exactly what she was doing. She was giving him an out. And he, was caught between being grateful that she was giving him an out, and being embarrassed of being the kind of person that needed to be given an out in the first place. "...Right." He glanced at her, then the pastries, then away again. "Can do that." He paused, brow furrowing. "The psychopaths, I mean. Guess I can manage that."
He sighed, shifting his stance so that he was leaning against the doorframe as casually as he could. "Not much of a trade." He dove his hands into his pockets, fishing around to see what he had on his person to either pay her or defend her. "Never seen an axe-wielding one around here before, at least." He offered a small smile, but it died quickly, eyes returning to the pastries, still unsure if he was safe to reach for them. "Plenty of weirdos, though."

"Hey man, thanks for taking the job. I guess putting up flyers isn't as old fashioned as I thought, nice to know." Hunter said, as he observed the handiwork exhibited by Minu. It was only some minor work to his decking, but he appreciated the extra pair of hands. "Jeez, I'm beat. Fancy sticking around? I'm going to order in a pizza, and have a beer." His fingers rifled through his wallet, before he pulled out a couple of fifties and handed them over. "Don't worry, I ain't going to charge you for half of the pizza or anything, it'd be my treat."
Minu wiped the sweat from his brow, messy dark hair sticking around his cheekbones. "Happy to help. Old fashioned works better for me. Don't really do the whole...." he gave a dismissive flick of his wrist. "Internet...online...thing." He fumbled around, putting one of his tools back into one of the deep pockets he'd sewn into his trousers. He'd patched them up that many times, he supposed he may as well start adding in features that made them useful. He paused at the offer to hang around, unsure at first if it was real, or if he even wanted it to be. "You don't have to do that." He turned away, busying himself with tidying up. "The pizza, I mean." He didn't want to seem too eager, but, he was hungry. He was hungry and he wasn't sure if, or when, he might get an offer like that again. He let the silence linger for a bit as he kept his hands moving, checking everything was accounted for. "...Haven't had pizza in a while."

Darcy was on her never ending quest to prove that ghosts exist, and even though she believed that with all her heart, she'd yet to get her own evidence of it. So, when she'd heard talk in her building about odd sounds coming from one of the empty apartments a few floors above, she started wondering if it was possible ghosts could reside at Ocean Crest. After all, a few years ago there was a fire in the apartments and there were a couple fatalities. It was possible, she knew that. So Darcy gathered all her ghost hunting equipment into her backpack and grabbed her camera before she made her way up to the correct floor these rumors were coming from. When she got to the apartment number, she took hold of the door handle and tried it, just to see if it was unlocked. Even if it wasn't, she'd snuck into enough places from ghost hunting that she knew how to open the door without a key.
However, the unexpected happened, and she heard a voice. A shiver ran down her spine as she froze in fear. No way she'd just heard that. And no way had she considered the fact that it was a person and not a ghostly being. "H-hello?" She pressed her ear to the door then to listen more carefully.
@minupark
Minu paused as he heard the stranger's voice. He'd been expecting someone or something that sounded a little more...intimidating. Kindly people weren't often the ones trying to invade spaces like these. He stayed as still as he could, holding his breath to try and listen for any little noise the other might make to give away what they wanted. He supposed if they were from the town hall, they might come with tools or backup, to get in by force if necessary. "You should leave." He spoke again, voice flat, almost sounding uninterested rather than defensive. Minu wasn't much of a fighter, in situations like these, he more so just wanted them to stop happening, rather than take control of them. "It's not safe here." He lowered himself slowly to the ground, trying to get a peek of who was there from the gap between the base of the door and the broken floorboards of the entryway. "Doesn't have to be any trouble."

Minu set his screwdriver down. He was sure he'd heard a sound he didn't recognise. Often sitting for long periods in silence, he'd come to know almost every creaking or cracking sound his new home could possibly make. But, this wasn't one of them. The doorhandle ratted again and he stood up sharply, grinding his teeth for a moment as he tried to figure out what to do. He lifted the screwdriver, just incase, and pressed his back against one of the walls, curling his fingers tightly around the screwdriver's handle. "Occupied." He stated, loud enough that he hoped they could hear him, and realise he wasn't looking for trouble. "Try somewhere else."

"Wait really?" Logan asked, brows scrunching up as she laughed, "That's the one food you'd eat for the rest of your life?"
Minu paused, brows raising ever slightly as he caught on that she was finding the sheer quantity of vegetable soup tins in his rucksack to be comical. They'd been discounted, and of course, he wasn't going to let an opportunity like that go to waste. "...Yeah. You can put almost anything in it." He was about to defend his position by listing off how it made bread softer and adding mashed potato or rice essentially made it a different dish altogether, but, instead he paused, looking up at her more seriously. Not offended, just, interested. "It's filling. What's better than that?"

"Okay, you weren't kidding, that was a lot" Colton chuckled setting the last of the stuff down. He eyed the other. "Were you seriously planning to do all the heavy lifting alone?"
Minu stared at the pile of crudely chopped wood, then back at Colton. His expression was blank, not in a negative way, just the face of someone who wasn't really taking anything in beyond what was absolutely necessary to get the job done. "...Probably." He blinked, sighing lightly, trying to jumpstart himself into being social. "Would've taken longer, though." He knew he should thank Colton for helping but, despite knowing he should, he couldn't find a time or place where it felt comfortable coming out of his mouth. "You...uh," He paused, hands moving to his hips as he surveyed the pile of wood again. "You want to take some? Burns well."
Welcome to Aurora Bay, MINU PARK ! I couldn’t help but notice you look an awful lot like MARK FISCHBACH. You must be the THIRTY FOUR year old UNEMPLOYED. Word is you’re RESILIENT but can also be a bit GUARDED and your favourite song is HARMONIA BY THE SHORTWAVE SET. I also heard you’ll be staying in OCEAN CREST APARTMENTS. I’m sure you’ll love it!
