This is a reminder. I am adamantly against allowing your cat to roam freely outside. I'm very for indoor only, leash trained, catios, or escape proofed back yards for cats. But if your cat is physically capable of leaving your property on its own where it will face predators, cars, poisons, people with pellet/bb guns, diseases, etc, you are an irresponsible owner of that cat.

I don't care what country you're from. No country is completely magically free of any danger to or from your cat. Indoor outdoor cats may be the norm there, but that doesn't mean it's safe. If your indoor outdoor cat made it to old age, congrats it's an outlier. As a vet tech both in general practice and in a shelter I see what happens to most indoor outdoor cats regularly. I have photos I can share, and stories.

You will not change my mind.

If you are upset or angry about this, block me. If you send me messages to say your situation is different, I will block you. If you comment about how x country really is safe, I will block you. I'm sick of this shit.

I know it’s meant to be funny, but this is NOT how you introduce cats unless you want blood and hate! You keep the kitten in bathroom or another shut room for a few days, let them get their scent on things, then switch places with the main cat for a day or so, so that the main cat gets used to the scent. Then you introduce them in short, supervised spurts, slowly integrating them to each other. This will still include fights, hissing, and shows of authority, but it will be much more likely to have them cooperate in the end than *this.* Please don’t do this to your cats.

i'm gonna be real with you guys i do not give a shit about people "stealing" outdoor cats. i don't feel bad for people who let their cat free roam and found out that someone down the block unknowingly took it in because it was neglected enough for them to think it was a stray.

like, if you as a cat owner are concerned about losing your outdoor cat to theft, you should be just as capable of being concerned about losing your cat to any of the countless things that kill outdoor cats every day. if you know there's people who take in outdoor cats thinking they're strays and that concerns you because you don't want to lose your cat forever...
