Wtf most women don’r even know they are pregnant at 6 weeks. This is violence.
Ever notice how it’s never the time to talk about guns–even though NOBODY is immune to a bullet–but it’s always time to talk about abortions and new bills to stop them? They really should say they hate women and go.
Fuckin idiots smh
This is horrifically unfair. It’s inhumane, and a ban on abortion in all but name. I think this needs explaining from a medical point of view. Because it’s even more horrific than it sounds: We start counting the menstrual cycle from the first day of a period, because that’s an easy day to pinpoint. Therefore the first week of your pregnancy is actually when your last period started, and aren’t pregnant at all.
Following this, anotehr week passes before you ovulate- we generally say day 14 as being the time people ovulate, though people can get pregnant on a range of days. So around two weeks of the pregnancy technically take place before the fertilisation has even occurred.
After that, we generally advise people to wait for a couple of weeks after sex before they check whether they may be pregnant, and it’s not generally recommended to test less than 8 days after ovulation because you’re likely to get a false negative reading; it’s usually too early to tell before then. Technically, many sources advise people to wait at least until their period is late, and some even advise waiting a week after, if you can. So this means that it’ll be around 4 or 5 weeks into your pregnancy, at the earliest, when you’d be able to test. This is part of the reason we tend to recommend testing more than once - testing too early might suggest you aren’t pregnant, because the levels of bHCG just aren’t high enough, yet, and lots of factors can influence whether the test is falsely negative early on in a pregnancy. There are tests that let you check maybe 5 or so days before your missed period, but the earlier you check, the more likely you are to get a false negative, because it takes time for the bHCG (the chemical that pregnancy tests look for) to be secreted by an implanting embryo. And of course, not everyone is sitting there waiting for a pregnancy; there are lots of reasons that people might only think to test for pregnancy after their period is delayed; perhaps they relied on contraception which failed, for example. Taking multiple pregnancy tests 3-4 weeks after every time you have sex in your fertile window, just so you could find out if you are pregnant ASAP would be pretty expensive and time consuming; no laws should force people to have to live on edge like this. And also, it’s not uncommon to experience a chemical pregnancy with an embryo that doesn’t fully implant and miscarries around the time you’d expect your period, or a week or two after that. Testing ever earlier doesn’t change the fact that a lot of early pregnancies (or fertilised embryos) miscarry really early on, therefore testing very early is potentially distressing because it raises people’s hopes when they otherwise would have just had a slightly ‘late’ period. I used to find it heartbreaking on my gynae job when couples would come in with a ‘bleed 4 weeks into pregnancy’, dealing with what was for them a very real loss of a much hoped for child. It’s another of the reasons we recommend testing more than once. Forcing people to test early in order to find out ASAP could cause so many people unnecessary distress.
This all also assumes that everyone follows a 28 day cycle. News flash: people’s bodies don’t read textbooks. For example, I have a pretty irregular cycle, and I can easily be multiple weeks early or late without having been pregnant. Most cycles might not be as messed up as mine (that’d be the stress, probably), but the point still stands that people might have very real reasons for not fussing until their period is really rather late. I could easily go 6 weeks into a theoretical pregnancy without having any clue I was pregnant, and I’m sure that could happen to lots of people.
Lastly, and most importantly, people need time to process information, make an informed choice and make arrangements if they believe an abortion is the best choice for them. Even if someone knows they are pregnant at 4 weeks, a limit at 6 weeks does not give a lot of time to make arrangements, and is entirely arbitrarily set without any reference to embryology. There’s no reason for the limit to be set at 6 weeks; foetuses of 7 weeks, or even 17 weeks aren’t able to live on their own and are still nowhere near the limit of viability.
Oh man, OOF, but also Respect, that’s a huge ass decision to make but I think it’ll be great PR for them if they can make it better.
Props dudes 👍 best of luck
Guys, PLEASE don’t treat this as an admirable decision. What this change basically amounts to is a HUGE amount of overtime for the animators without any delays in the release schedule nor changes to the budget, it’s a decision HE can make bc it won’t personally affect him but it will affect the animators. Even worse, supporting this decision could send the message to other companies that we’ll support practices like this in the future.
It actually won’t. The actual animation is not changing, the model its being applied to is changing. Thats not what animators do, thats what artists and modellers do, the lions share of the work is theirs. Its not going to be zero work, because nothing ever is, but there are numerous professionals who responded to that tweet pointing out how its actually not a hugely difficult or undoable job for CGI, because they’re just going to apply the animation they already have to a new model and touch it up where they need to. We SHOULD support practices like this in future, we SHOULD support companies actually listening to their audiences and providing a better quality product/service as a result beforehand, not cocking it up and issuing an apology after. So lets not try and drag down this godsend of a change with phrases like “huge overtime” or imply its going to be ruinous to anyone (especially based on no evidence) because according to actual animators who work on films like this, that is simply not true.
Reblogging cuz ^^^this^^^ is IMPORTANT to know!
Thank you for explaining! I was really concerned for the animators

#[40S COMMERCIAL ANNOUNCER VOICE] WHAT’S BETTER THAN THIS? GALS BEING PALS
Fun fact: Though being gay in the 40s sucked, being gay in the military was easier, and pretty common. There were apparently, at one point in time time so many lesbians in the military that when they tried to crack down on it, the girls wrote back and said “Look I can give you the names, but you’ll lose some of your best officers, and half your nurses and secretaries.” And they pretty much shut up about it unless you were especially bad at subtlety. (Source: Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers. A good source for gay history from 1900s onwards.)
Sergeant Phelps worked for General Eisenhower. Four decades after Eisenhower had defeated the Axis powers, Phelps recalled an extraordinary event. One day the general told her, “I’m giving you an order to ferret those lesbians out.’ We’re going to get rid of them.”
“I looked at him and then I looked at his secretary. who was standing next to me, and I said, ‘Well, sir, if the general pleases, sir, I’ll be happy to do this investigation for you. But you have to know that the first name on the list will be mine.’
“And he kind of was taken aback a bit. And then this woman standing next to me said, ‘Sir, if the general pleases, you must be aware that Sergeant Phelps’s name may be second, but mine will be first.’
“Then I looked at him, and I said, ‘Sir, you’re right. They’re lesbians in the WAC battalion. And if the general is prepared to replace all the file clerks, all the section commanders, all of the drivers—every woman in the WAC detachment—and there were about nine hundred and eighty something of us—then I’ll be happy to make the list. But I think the general should be aware that among those women are the most highly decorated women in the war. There have been no cases of illegal pregnancies. There have been no cases of AWOL. There have been no cases of misconduct. And as a matter of fact, every six months since we’ve been here, sir, the general has awarded us a commendation for meritorious service.’
“And he said, ‘Forget the order.’

I’ve reblogged this before but it didn’t have these comments and HOLY HOT DAMN DID IT NEED THEM.
So, when someone sits down to write a fiction about Women commandos, and a Dudebro steps in to say “Huh, that is so unrealistic huh.”
Harold… oh, Harold…sit down, shut up, and stay out of our way.

Issues With Pornhub
I’ve seen a lot of conflicting opinions without a lot of sources so I figured I’d find some. As much as I’d love Tumblr to go back to more of what it once was, Pornhub is shady as hell.
General info on cam girls with explanation why Pornhub is bad for them
Piracy putting an adult star out of business
Pornhub (and MindGeek) stealing content, doxxing sex workers who file DMCA reports and gathering personal information
Video of independent adult creator begging Pornhub to stop stealing content (leads to Pornhub itself, do not click if under 18)
Pornhub’s policies regarding them owning any content you upload
‘By checking this box, I confirm my agreement to provide my content on an exclusive basis to Pornhub. Accordingly, I hereby license, assign, and convey to Pornhub the exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and publicly perform online (including on websites or online platforms) any or all of the content that I have uploaded to Pornhub or will in the future upload to Pornhub.’

One of the reasons men didn’t have an issue with Wonder Woman is because they can objectify her. She’s basically in a metal swimsuit. Now, I think they did a really good job with her costume considering what they had to work with. It looked like real armor and something that an Amazon woman would wear, way better than past iterations where she was literally in lingerie. Captain Marvel, on the other hand, is in a full suit that covers her entire body. It fits her well, but it’s not a skintight bodysuit like what Black Widow has worn before. It’s practical and isn’t something that men can easily objectify. They didn’t have problems with some of the feminist stuff in Wonder Woman because they were too busy staring up her skirt. Men don’t have an issue with a woman on screen if it’s someone they can objectify.
I was looking everywhere for this post!
There were some things I wanted to add to further hammer this point.
Another reason men preferred Wonder Woman is because of her supposed “naivety.” She’s really intelligent, but when it came to actual interaction with men and life outside Themyscira, Diana was totally new to that and men think she’d be easy to manipulate. Even though they’d be completely wrong, that’s what they think. We see this kind of thing in the real world where American men try to manipulate women of color or women from foreign countries all the time.
Captain Marvel had an American accent and was far more advanced than they were, so she’s mentally intimidating, because they know how fast she’d pick up on their BS.
Diana also has more traditional feminine qualities, such as her delicate nature and way of speaking. The biggest reason was her love interest and the fact that the group she fought along side with were all men. In Wonder Woman, she did knock some insulting men on their asses, but right after, a man says that he’s both afraid and aroused. When Captain Marvel does the same thing, it’s more of a, “lol bitch bye!🤣” And men can’t find a reason why that would be sexually enjoyable.
Wonder Woman was actually a really awesome feminist symbol and in no way was she even sexualized, but men will still find a way. Which really sucks, because the two movies show that strong women come in many different forms and they don’t have to be anything alike, but the woman that appears more approachable will be sexualized while the other woman will be labeled as a man hater.
This reblog is fantastic, I never thought about Diana being more approachable, but it makes total sense! A lot of people think I’m hating on Wonder Woman, but I’m just pointing out how men are seeing her, and this post helps explain it even more. Her outfit wasn’t made to specifically objectify her, but it is easier for men to objectify. Wonder Woman is an amazing movie and is pretty feminist, but the stuff that’s been mentioned is why men had less of an issue with it. Wonder Woman still did get shit, but I’ve seen so many men try to defend their sexist behavior towards Captain Marvel by saying that they love Wonder Woman. I’m just pointing out in my original post one of the reasons why so many men are saying they aren’t being sexist because they love Wonder Woman but not Captain Marvel.
