Dandelion is one of the few in the world of Felicita fighting against the ongoing mechanical takeover to consume what's left of the natural growths, trying to fight for a happy medium between plant and machine

While Sorrel fully embraces the new world order and thinks xir sibling is stuck in the past. Sorrel is more than happy to get modifications to xir body should it finally help ease the constant pain xey feel on a regular basis

Briar. ohhh Briar. What can I say about Briar?

He's dead.

He died because he got just a little bit too close to the truth and was starting to get people to question who's in charge. So they set up for him to be killed and subsequently bastardized his death to make them look better. His memory haunts the city of Cadenza and all of the people who knew him for who he really was, yet no one wants to listen to that because the Union decided for him who he was in death.

He's a ghost with unfinished business.

He knows what happened to him and how they treat him in death, and he's conflicted. He's angry. He was a kind and gentle man in life, generous and driven to succeed and do right by the people of Nascire. Then he was murdered for it. And he's angry about it. He's angry he can't do anything for anyone anymore. He's scared that he's so angry and bitter in death.

He can't even watch his child grow up. He doesn't even know where she is.

His presence affected and continues to affect countless people and yet he actually cannot accomplish anything. He is just a memory haunting over Nascire now- and he so, so, SO, angry.

fascinated with the thoughts of ghosts of the kindest people becoming angrier and angrier seeing how they are treated in death and over the fact they died and having to grapple with the feelings of both being dead. wanting to still be kind. but also that bitter anger over one's own demise

In this universe there's a superstition to be kind to spiders as they can see all and all of them will remember. Whether or not that is correct is highly up to debate and most just share it to try and freak people out.

Opal however...believes it 100% due to a very bad experience in his youth with his cousin's "imaginary friend" and has developed a nasty fear of spiders ever since. So he will always go out of his way to give spiders a wide berth and leave them be if he comes across one

Gloves, a spare pare of gloves, and cleaning wipes! Due to the nature of being a nudibranch merfolk, they have an unfortunate self defense mechanism of secreting poisonous mucus when they feel threatened/anxious/scared/etc so they try to cover up as much as possible. They're very paranoid about it and always keep a pair of gloves on and a spare just in case something happens to the first set. In addition they keep the cleaning wipes in their bags JUST IN CASE they get their mucus on something and need to clean it up real quick like
