That was just absolutely lovely! I swear I was smiling the entire 55 min 🥹 I would say that JK did seem more relaxed, and it was so comfortable between the 3 of them. Maybe a little of that is also attributed to him being in his own country and hopefully feeling 100%, unlike what we saw in the first 2 episodes.
Nevertheless, I would watch a 40-part series with those 3 dorks - traveling, eating, and just being endearing boys. It reminded me all over again why I fell in love with them in the first place 😭

No but honestly I don't think we talk enough about how musically fresh and interesting this whole album was but today I'm giving it up for LMA.
I was only a few months in at this point but over time, I've realised actually how fresh and innovative this was for him to release. What gets me about it is that it's so... Tae. Almost for what seems like the first time, you get to see how genuinely outstanding his vocals are, his storytelling, his performance, how smart he is, how outside the norm his creative vision is and how fearless he is, his influences and references. Bowie's Thin White Duke, for example:

I just don't understand why people are so passionate about proving that Taekook are awkward. I mean, we know they're at the very least close friends. The past two years have proven that they prefer to hang out with the other often and even more than the other members do. These aren't "Taekooker theories" this is stuff that we KNOW either from Jungkook/Tae telling us themselves or people spotting them in real life. Like okay, you think they're awkward. They've still chosen to seemingly prioritize each other throughout the group's hiatus. Before Tae enlisted he made sure to post a photo of him at Jungkook's house and a photo of them FaceTiming to send Jungkook off specifically. But sure, they're awkward and distant coworkers right? We all saw how solo era went, trying to push this agenda just isn't going to work

Speaking of the military, idk how many platforms ive mentioned the same thing but here goes:
Do not engage in any kind of media or information that doesn't come directly from the boys themselves. Stop consuming every story and believeling all bs just cuz it's korean smh. Literally when jungkook was inactive we got both updates from jimin himself, Taehyung posts on insta stories, so does hobi and namjoon, jungkook is active on tiktok lately, Jin is on weverse too. Yoongi isn't updating cause of the nature of his job and respective restriction. So please don't go around spreading their squad pics, X runs fast, Y sleeps at 9:08pm only stories. Thats how akges get a plaform and eventually spew fake narratives and spread misinformation and eventual hate on any of them. They're not celebrities but regular citizen under the government at the moment. They deserve this moment of both privacy and respect while they serve their country. We don't have to know if they're eating apples for breakfast. It's unnecessary. They have music and other content They worked so hard for and exclusively prepared for this time period. Engage, stream and hype that. Rest is noise.
Fri(end)s had SUCH radio potential. And it has gotten some play (Organic King) but if BH had actually pushed it for radio play, it could have been dominating.
I could even see the gimmick of playing him and JK back to back or in the same segment.
Ok lil secret about me: I have been doing radio in the UK as a side hustle since I was 15 so just under 30 years, god I'm ancient. Note: I do primarily behind the scenes stuff now. So I love radio discussion.
I gotta say I was BAFFLED but also unsurprised. I was really excited when I heard it because I was like ok yeah Layover was so niche, so jazzy but this is RADIO-Y.
The current hits stations (Capital, Radio 1 in the UK) should have been picking it up. A high profile artist with a fully English song (which unfortunately matters 🙄) that isn't like an overtly niche genre? It should really be there!
I don't think I'd have expected it to go to the A or B playlist, honestly. A playlist is usually reserved for like a couple of the HUGEST songs. Regular play during the day, once every couple of hours though it varies station to station. B playlist would be maybe three times a day.
I am not certain but Seven peaked at 3 in the UK charts and I think it was B playlist on Radio 1. Again, not entirely sure.
C playlist is likely once a day and that's where I'd expect Friends to go.
But it's currently not on Radio 1 or Capital playlists at all. 🙃
The trouble is current hits radio stations want to play what's popular and not what could be popular with support. There's no taking a chance on a great song anymore. Radio used to set the trends, now they follow them according to what's popular on tiktok. It's kind of sad.
Also kind of terrible marketing by the radio stations?! Everyone knows ARMY supports people who support us. I think they're fools not to play music with such high profiles and dedicated fanbase.
I think there's a reason and I think it's racism. Kpop artists fight a battle to be seen as anything other than kpop. I can only speak about the UK but I was literally in a store the other day trying to check prices on Face album and it took me ten minutes to realise Jimin wasn't under J. He was literally just under K-pop. As were BTS themselves. Like all of kpop was one artist! When they're fighting that kind of silliness, the songs aren't being judged on quality or voice or genre. They're just kpop and that's a niche radio isn't investing in despite kpop being made up of many genres and styles. Korean isn't a genre, UK music industry 😐
That said, Jungkook did pretty well with a peak in the top ten for all three singles from Golden. So how come he got decent play? I think that might come down to the very commercial sound - absolutely not a critique, I love it - of his music.
But I also think Tae is fighting more internal issues of general nonsense from his label. Basically it's an uphill struggle and I'm so proud of what he has achieved despite those issues. 💜
