Humans aren't in danger in the least in Champions, they'll be fine. Pheonix's bluffing skills and ability to remember seemingly trivial details might even let him get a decent rank.

I used to dislike the phrase, "a hit dog will holler" because nothing in it really implied that that dogs in question deserved to be hit. For all I know the guy doing the hitting was angry that the dogs were making too much noise, and is deliberately engaging in acts that will lead to more "bad" behavior to indulge in the thrill of punishment again and again.

Given its use often comes off as a slightly-subtler-average than thought terminating cliche or kafkatrap, that's probably not far off the mark.

I've since come to appreciate the phrase, though, as a means to figure out which people are worth attempting to engage in good-faith discussions, and which aren't.
