It’s Just Me, Now

I can’t keep writing

The same old poem.

I can’t keep lighting

Lanterns at our home. 

I can’t keep pretending

Your love’s comin’ back.

I can’t keep believing

It was something I’d lacked.

I can’t keep carrying

Our ghosts or memories.

I can’t keep going

Back to you and me. 

So I can’t love you

Anymore.

And I can’t leave clues

Or an unlocked door. 

So I’m letting go. 

All of the lanterns are out. 

All of the doors are closed. 

And it’s only me, now.
