Table For Two Please||Penelope&Jackson
ambigvity:
Coming to the hospital right on a Friday night was never even part of his schedule that day. It was his day off, one of those given to him simply because the PD didnât need him around ( not when he already served and given far too much of his time for that week; way beyond how his normal shifts should last per week ) and while he usually donât leave his house every time he had a day off, that night, he felt like he needed a change; needed to do something, to paysomeone a visit â and so, he did.
Ever since his paths collided with Penelope due to an unfortunate circumstance while in an operation with the PD, Jackson have had his eyes on the nurse who made sure heâd recover from his injuries in his 15 day stay in the hospital. Perhaps he had grown attached to her and her likable personality that even after he was discharged, Jackson felt the need to pay her a visit from time to time; to ask her how she is and make sure sheâs okay. He wanted to be a friend to her but somehow, along the way, he felt as if his admiration for her have escalated so quickly, he barely had the time to realize just how much he wanted to get to know her better. Months passed and he recovered from his injuries but his will to keep his connection with the nurse intact never waned â not once, and he still continued to pay her visits at the hospital from time to time.
That night, however, his visit was rather spontaneous; unplanned, which left him suddenly uncertain of her reaction of seeing him there after such a long time of not seeing each other. Work has been hectic for him and if he wasnât in such a rush when he swings by the hospital to escort an injured suspect in custody, he didnât have the time to be at the hospital at all. Rarely did Jackson doubt his decisions though. Be it a small one that doesnât include another person or a relatively bigger one that includes another personâs agreement to his idea, his confidence about a certain thing rarely falters. He was always so confident, never hesitant about pretty much anything â until he suddenly wasnât.
Standing by the nurseâs station, partly unsure if she would even agree to his offer and partly sure that she would, the male waited for the woman to appear anytime soon as he looked at his wrist watch to check on the time yet again. Just about time for her shift to end, he thought as his left foot lightly tapped the floor. WaitingâŚpatiently, until he looked up and met eyes with the person he was just waiting for. âHey,â he greets, a small but genuine smile on his face before letting out a soft chuckle at the concern coating her words and her tone. âOh, no..no, everythingâs fine, Penelope,â was all he could say as the warmth of her hand was felt on his forehead. âIâm not here for a medical emergency,â he states, âbut I am here for you, though. Hopefully, my memory still serves me right about the time your shift ends?â
Relieve flooded her eyes when Jackson confirmed that he was alright. ââThatâs good to hear.ââ She said smiling as she placed her hands behind her back. Her entire posture was more relaxed now that she was sure that he was alright. She couldnât quite tell why she expected the worst but she was glad that she wrong. Over the last few months, she liked to think that they grew close. Even if they havenât seen each other in a while.
When he asked her if she was free she smiled as she moved her hips to make her dress shake. As if she wanted him to notice her outfit. Her eyes shifted to the ground as she stifled a giggle. ââWell seeing as this isnât my new uniform, I would have to say youâre correct,ââ Penelope said once she was confident that her voice wouldnât betray her amusement.
ââBut since youâre here for me... Well, Iâm here.ââ She said happily. Penelope was happy to see him and if it wasnât for the fact that they havenât seen each other in a while she mightâve hugged him. But right now, just him being here, with her, was enough. She had so many questions she wanted to ask him and so many things that she wanted to tell him.
ââIs there anything you wanted to do?ââ Penelope hoped she didnât sound too eager but she couldnât help herself. He was one of her handful of friends in this town, and on top of that one, she hasnât seen for some time. So perhaps she sounded eager to be with him. She hoped that he wouldnât mind.
