Beautiful Laser Cut Wooden Pendants Hold a Piece of the Michigan Forest Inside
Chicago-based indie shop BuildWithWood creates handmade, one-of-kind jewelry pendants which pay homage to the ethereal landscapes of northern Michigan’s Hiawatha National Forest. Encapsulated with a wide range of natural resources, such as wood, oak, plants, resin, dried plants, hardwood, laser cut wood, natural materials, seeds, horsetails, horsetail, moss, lichen, nature’s common and often overlooked specimens are its main subject. Common weeds are carefully highlighted and encased by a clear resin inside laser cut oak or pine frames.
To maintain beauty and originality, the pieces contain small imperfections, such as tiny bubbles, which add an atmospheric and unique quality to each piece. To complete each necklace, each pendant is meticulously sanded, polished and stained, then finished with a stainless steel ball and hung on a simple metal chain. Strictly inspired by nature, the artist aims to create a functional, yet beautiful design. You can find more pieces in their Etsy shop.
