What if you wanted some thing? How bad do you want it? Do you want it more than you care about other people's thoughts? What would you be willing to give up? I wonder how many people would be willing to suspend Thanksgiving and Christmas this year in order to push all that cash into a plan for 2016? No new decor, handmade/homemade gifts with a price limit. Not buying the big ticket items, telling friends and extended family that you have a long term plan so you will not be sending out or accepting gifts this year. That you're really serious and you do not want to be included on any christmas lists. This isn't a hardship and you definitely don't want any pity gufts and you really hope they respect your family plan for 2015. Or would it be too shameful. Or too much that folks ARE going to say you're poor or cheap. Oh yes they'll say it, your very best friends and family are going to talk about you viciously. Will you spend hours in your room crying hot tears of shame or will you take out last year's decorations, turn on your favorite Christmas songs, grab the family and hang last year's orange wreaths and jingle bells. Would you commit to saving every extra penny in a savings account or piggy bank and not touch it till some predetermined date? Then treating youself and/or your family to your pre established goal? Or if this goal is too much. Commit to saving every single receipt and track every dollar spent on Thanksgiving and Christmas items then write yourself IOU and stick it in a piggy bank.
