Put the apocalypse down, and back away slowly.

Real solutions to complex, systemic problems are not so easily reduced to “us good, them evil; kill them.”

I made the mistake of searching "rings of power" on Tumblr because I wanted to find some cool gif/artsy stuff but I regret it so much.

Wtf is going on? All I found is hate and people having huge meltdowns and being spiteful and I can't believe it.

I understand that not everyone likes it, as I understand that people want to share their opinion but there is a different between writing

Hmm, I don't think it is as you say it is. Never saw it put in such extreme terms so Im calling BS on this. More like they just voice their opinion and they have a right to. Also, if any of you happens to mention it's supposedly great I can easily imagine why they would be challanged about this. They're literally butchering the lore and well established characters of a famous father of all fantasy to a highest degree ever seen on TV (almost), for shabby reasons and written by crappy storytellers, it's not your everyday cartoon that some people just happened to dislike. You're just here to enjoy gifs and not OK because you witnessed some of that willing to stay in your echo chamber... I mean, when will you finally understand the gravity of the situation. People who enjoy watching it can do that, for whatever reason you doing that, but - if you really believe we're wrong and unfair - write an essay about it and all its qualities deserving of praise, for a change, or prove how it's writing isn't motivated by ideological agenda and irl world which it clearly is at the expense of everything else in.it. Otherwise don't preach about the fandom, just enjoy the show and keep in mind that maybe there is something wrong in it if so many fans just can't take it

You know the feed changes daily? I just wrote what I saw in that particular moment, I was not preaching.

The work of the famous father of fantasy is still there and it's not being erased. If one prefers it, one can still enjoy it.

Remember that even a everyday cartoon can mean the world to someone. Remember that there was a time when "the Hobbit" was just a book, imagine how would you feel reading someone dismissing it like that.

Don't you think that's a bit dramatic? It's just a show. It's just a fucking show. A show made on the basis of something we love, but still it's just a show. And someone may hate me for what I'm about to write but the books are just books. I read them, I love them. I know what is canon and what is not. But i understand that books, movies, fan fiction and TV shows are different media made from different people. I can enjoy them anyway as separate adaptation of the same in-universe story.

And for the part about butchering the lore: as I said I read the books. One of the things Tolkien goes on and on about is how different people and different races should be united and fight evil and bad together.

Numenor wants to prevail among others and goes bad? Numenor falls.

Elfs are too proud? Elfs have lots of problems. People are not united? They are weak. Everyone gets together regardless of gender/race? Evil is defeated.

Yeah sure I'm pretending I'm a ten year old who reads only the first layer of the story, but still, this stuff is all there. Do not pretend that Tolkien is this sacred untouchable monster If you ignore one of the first thing that comes across in his writing. Or do you think Tolkien didn't have his "ideological agenda" when writing? Because maybe one should read again.

I don't want to write essays because I'm not here to convince anyone to like it! I will enjoy it, someone else will not. But I will never accept the argument that if a lot of people like/dislike something they are right because there is so many of them. Majorities are not always right because of their numbers.

Everyone if free to enjoy or not, but shitstorms and racist comments to supposedly annoy people who worked on it (or people who like it) are not something to excuse.

It's still so wild to me that people see something they don't vibe with, and instead of saying to themselves. This isn't for me I'm just not gonna watch it. They actively tell others not to watch it also, turning their irrational hatred into their day job, and coming up with bullshit reasons as to why they shouldn't watch said piece of media. And then, after refusing to watch said thing, still go onto review sites and review bomb it so that it looks like it is failing. Then laugh about it on their social media like they accomplished something. How sad is your life? That this is the joy you get? Just ignore the shit you don't like and leave the enjoyment to others who do.
