The bugs are terrible. And hey - whatever’s necessary to walk around Manhattan in the winter. Some of those wind tunnels are not friendly.
“I can’t say that I’ve ever been in a wind tunnel, but I’ll take your word for it.”
“How are you not freaking out? Or are you one of the few who is actually prepared for classes to start?”
“Yeah, I’m pretty prepared. Might have to do some shopping if teachers decide that I need certain things last minute, but I’m pretty prepared.”
“So, why am I the one only one being talked until there is a hole inside of my brain? I swear, the dean has it out for me. I wasn’t the only one picking on this stupid ass Freshman. I didn’t know he was his nephew. Do you think anyone would notice if I pushed him off a bridge?”
“He probably does have it out for you. But I’m pretty sure homicide and pushing people off of a bridge is frowned upon. Maybe something else that won’t make it obvious that it was you.”
Maybe, but I kinda doubt it. I always preferred winter, and besides - you can always add more layers. There’s only so much clothing you can take off.
“One good things about the winter is that most of the bugs are gone. Tell that to the people who are doing 100 layers of clothes.”
I’m not saying that I am, I’m just wondering if I’m the only one freaking out about it. Because if I am then I need to know the secret of keeping calm.
“I’m sure the other unprepared students are freaking out. You’ll probably find a few of them in your classes.”
Distraction would work in the place of entertainment. I just need to get my mind off my painting for awhile.
“Greetings are a nice start to distractions. I’m Tiffany Gilbert.”
You know, it’s really not fair that you just look like that when it’s this freaking humid out. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here trying not to move for fear of sweating - and don’t even tell me how my hair looks.
“Once the winter shows up, I’m sure you’ll be missing the heat...just a little.”
I was thinking of making a lot of treats for everyone to kind of make the start of the school year a little more bearable. I just need suggestions of what to make.
“If you could make discounts to get coffee, that’d be awesome.”
School is just around the corner, am I the only one who’s starting to freak out? I’m realizing just how unprepared I am.
“I doubt you’re the only unprepared student.”
“Not a problem. Although, I don’t really get to say who pledges or not, but it’s awesome that you chose us. I’m just a regular active.”
“I was just kinda lucky that spots were open. I was worried that I wasn’t going to get a spot or something.”
“Okay, that’s definitely a relief. I guess I’m just not used to being in such a huge city.”
“Makes sense. If anybody recognizes you, just pretend that you don’t remember.”
“They’re not cliches though? Those are the classics,” he raised his eyebrow at her. “So tell me about yourself Tiffany. You look pretty young. A freshman?”
“Good to know that somebody agrees with me,” Tiffany said. “Yeah, I’m 19, pledging for Phi Phi Beta, and not really doing any sports.”
“Why would I be jealous of a blonde? I’m only one point behind, watch yourself. I’m catching up, sweetheart.”
“As of when? I highly doubt that you’re that close to me, sweetie.”
Alright, I need a break from painting - I’ve been in that studio for like 21 hours straight. Entertain me, please.
“I’m not the best at entertaining. Honestly, I’m just taking a break from ceramics.”
I was taking a walk but then I tripped and fell in the middle of a busy street. Now I’m too mortified to ever show my face in public again.
“I highly doubt anybody would recognize you as ‘that girl that tripped.’ I wouldn’t even care too much about it.”
“You mean give a very vague answer. I suppose I could try that.”
“I know I could, but I enjoy cooking and giving my friend home cooked meals, not something store bought.”
“If details are requested, just avoid the bad ones. I doubt he’ll try to pry for more...maybe.”
“Well, if you insist. I can’t stop you.”
“Bragging about girls is okay. Bragging about something no one really cares about isn’t.”
“Actually, there are people who care. This is the jealousy talking isn’t it? You’re still upset about being number two, and all you have left to brag about is girls.”
