HI I JUST HAD A REVELATION

so i was listening to this song strawberry blonde by mitski and i just realized wow, this is the inosaku anthem. don’t believe me? that’s fine, but listen...(im probably portraying the lyrics in a different way but nonetheless understand my point) (ALSO MOST OF THE LYRICS ARE IN SAKURA’S POV) (AND I WONT BE REVIEWING ALL THE LYRICS BECAUSE SOME I CANT REALLY PUT ANY MEANING INTO)

“i love everybody because i love you”: ino being sakura’s first friend and that leads up to sakura having other friends like naruto and sasuke.

“and the grass where you lay left a bed in your shape”: i have a headcanon where ino and sakura are being cottagecore lesbians and laying in the green grass.

“i looked over it and i ached”: the lyric following when ino and sakura are laying in the grass together. looking at ino’s silhouette in the grass gives sakura a bittersweet feeling. the silhouette is beautiful, and sakura doesn’t think she’ll be as beautiful as her. (before the academy i have this headcanon where sakura had a really low self esteem)

“i don’t need the city and i don’t need proof”: ino and sakura’s bond will never be broken, no matter how much they hate each other. (example: that pointless fighting for sasuke). they don’t need anything to prove their bond is unbreakable.

“all i need darling is a life in your shape”: sakura being jealous of ino’s beauty, while still being in love with her.

“i picture it soft and i ache”: sakura picturing herself with ino’s beauty gives her a sad feeling because she’ll only be happy once she’s as beautiful as ino.

“look at you strawberry blonde”: sakura admiring ino’s beauty (being symbolized by her hair, although not the right shade of blonde lol)

“you tell me you love her, i give you a grin”: this lyric can be seen in both sakura and ino’s POV. sakura’s pov is her noticing all the love and admiration ino gets. ino’s pov is at the academy when naruto has a crush on sakura and ino gets a lil jealous (the grinning is fake)

“so i follow the white lines, follow the white lines” sakura being influenced by ino. (this lyric is following lyric 5)

“keep my eyes on the road as i ache”: sakura taking all of ino’s influences and putting it into account. (listening to every word she says)

“i love it when you call my name”: ino is appreciating sakura’s company more and more.

“can you hear the bumblebees swarm? watching your arm”: they’re growing up. ino is starting to fall in love with sakura as they enter their academy days. the part where the bumblebees swarm is a metaphor for the bittersweet feeling of growing up. bees swarming you is a scary thing, but bumblebees rarely sting, so it’s also a sweet thing.

“i love it when you look my way”: the tables have turned and now ino is feeling smitten

“isaiah, isaiah, isaiah”: sakura is cutting off their friendship due to her crush on sasuke. (in my headcanon ino never had a crush on sasuke but people were spreading rumors that she did so sakura decided to break it off). the actual lyric is being sung by ino, a complete parallel to the happy and soft lyrics sung by sakura. i associated this lyric with sasuke because isaiah is a guys name, and im assuming that “isaiah” was the thing or person that separated the two girls in the song. going back to the bumblebee lyric, this is where the stinging comes in, leading to their rivalry
