since the last frickbears post did well, here, have my ship while i work on the vanessa doodles
(genuinely there's like NOTHING for these two and that stinks i love them)
do it. join my mikenessa agenda. join my military sarts.
also doing content of them also lets me put both of them at the forefront of everything i do, which i HOPE will make them more popular considering how forgotten they both are
Not enough people talk about how Mike is probably dealing with depression. He's the sole guardian of his little sister and doesn't care about what happens to HIM, only his sister.
But heey, what's the point in focusing on anyone who isn't Fritz, amiright?
VANESSA! please give her more love i beg of you

Summary: After finally being released from prison, Duncan has a few worries regarding his relationship with Kitty. Would she really want to be seen with a lowlife punk, fresh from bars? Likewise, Kitty fears of what Emma will think of her going out with a cheating criminal. Their anxities heighten with their first date coming up.
It's odd being observant. The world often times will push aside observation and understanding in favor of making it out to be some sort of demonic, vile act. You make a lot of enemies and a lot of people don't seem to really like you. It's hard knowing how many people dog on you, shit on you, because you think it's all justified at first. If that many people must be doing it, it must be true.
But the truth of the matter is that there are so many people out there who will hate you for what you've done rather than who you are. A singular bad action doesn't make you a bad person. Who you are at your core, what you do as a person and what you hold true to your heart makes up who you are. Arbitrary labels like 'good person' or 'bad person' don't really mean anything. You can do evil and be good. You can do good and be evil. A world with someone by your side is odd to believe, but it's true.
Don't ever believe that you are alone, that you have no one to truly love. The love of others doesn't really matter when you have those few people who you can lean on. Society sucks, but people don't.
"I could draw a thousand canvases, each more beautiful than the last, but to those that matter most, it wouldn’t matter at all. They love me not for what I put into the world, not for burying myself in my work. But because I love them no matter what."
I threw this together in an hour because I actively hate being a fan of both of these characters sometimes. The nuances of them are often just pushed aside for the sake of 'Harold deserved the bullying' or 'Duncan is a one-note jerk'.
Duncan and Harold are great rivals because they have a lot in common beneath the surface, and often times are these similarities contrasting with one another. Duncan is predominantly cool, quippy, yet has a hidden nerdy, dorkish side that he would rather die than show. Harold is a geeky loser who plans to live in his mom's basement, yet has a select few moments his bite matches his bark. Even in design, they both wear undershirts while having facial hair, with Duncan's being well-kempt while Harold's isn't.
What's doubly interesting is how their main connecting trait is their arrogance. Duncan backs it up more often, but they're both exceedingly arrogant people who often put their own foot in their mouth. They both have a sense of 'I'm so awesome' and it's why they're often used as punching bags for the show's slapstick. They aren't perfect, pristine people and are notably flawed, yet also aren't quite the level of characters like Alejandro or Heather. Even lesser villains like Justin and Scott are arguably worse people than these two, because despite Duncan and Harold both being arrogant; they're also genuinely good people at heart who like to help others.
Harold is the only person to ever reach out and help Heather. This might've been due to his main character sydrome, but he went out of his way to help a fellow outcast just because he didn't like seeing her sad. Similarly, Duncan goes out of his way to get a new pet Bunnie for DJ, simply because he doesn't want his friend to go through the same thing. Harold often finds the best in bad people, while Duncan often socializes with exceedingly good people.
Even in how they interact with each other, they parallel. Duncan gets the upper hand usually, with Harold occassionally dunking on him and turning the tables. They both think the other is a total idiot, but they're willing to put aside differences for the sake of the team. Some of Duncan's confessionals even imply that he believes that his bullying of Harold will make him actually toughen up, which makes sense when you factor in how Duncan is in-and-out of juvie constantly. It's probably how he ended up being so untrusting of everyone and sees enemies everywhere.
It sucks how these comparisons are lost on a lot of viewers, who boil their dynamic down to such a finite level that discredits all the work put into both characters. It's always 'Duncan is a loser you're meant to laugh at, because he's so pathetic!' and 'Harold is insufferable to deal with and rigged the votes against an innocent party, he sucks!' with Duncan definitely having more detractors due to people seeing themselves in Harold. Ironically, haters of either usually hate traits that both characters have. Harold isn't some innocent guy who's getting bullied for no reason, and Duncan isn't some one-note bully who mocks Harold out of jealousy. Their relationship has nuances and comparisons that mean a lot more than meets the eye.
he's only smiling because she doesn't see it
Cats, Dogs, and Rats (3,362 Words for Ch2, 5,060 in total) by mistahmcmuffin Chapter 2/4 | Good Guys and Bad Girls
Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Duncan/Kitty (Total Drama) Characters: Duncan (Total Drama), Kitty (Total Drama) Additional Tags: Rare Pairings, Prison, Duncan can't help but be good, Kitty can't help but tease him FOR being good, Slow Burn, Prison Era Duncan, These two have taken over my mind and opened my eyes to why rarepairs exist, Aged-Up Character(s), Character Study, Because nobody in this damn fandom gets Duncan right and it kills me, Idiots in Love, Falling in Love, First Dates, Except they both don't really think of it as a date, First Kiss
Summary: Upon Kitty visiting him again, Duncan reveals what he'd actually like to do. Get some special bonding time in with her 'Duncan Style'. Stripping a car, shoplifting, maybe even a little vandalism. Unfortunately, 'Little Miss Pigtails' has other thoughts of how to spend their times that DON'T involve breaking the law.
Duncan Headcanons! (My goat!)
Despite his love of horror movies, he can't stand psychological horror. That stuff freaks him out big time.
He actually suffers from automatonophobia, the fear of human-like figures, particularly standees and mannequins.
He never talked to girls much growing up, hence why he falls for them so easily as a teenager.
The only visitors he got in prison were DJ and his Mama. It's not that the others didn't want to visit, moreso that his dad cracked down hard on who could visit and who couldn't.
A lot of the vandalism stunts he pulls are directed at big budget companies and political groups. He doesn't vandalize small mom and pop shops, he doesn't have the heart to.
Duncan loves chick flicks and crappy teenage girl movies, but not a soul knows of this secret. Not even Courtney or Gwen knew.
Rarely ever does he play video games or read comics; he thinks they're way too dorky and finds them super boring.
His favorite slasher is Ghostface, he finds the getup super stupid but hella cool.
He's very tender around healthy families. If you were to put him with the Father & Son or Step-Brothers from RR, he'd act annoyed, but would find their connection really adorable and somewhat envy them.
This is because Duncan's folks are very strict people, who often didn't let him grow up due to being the middle child. Like father like son, his dad was too prideful to admit he was overly critical of Duncan growing up, and it led to him developing the rebel lifestyle he has now.
His mom, meanwhile, kinda coddled him and often treated him as younger than he was. He still loves her, but definitely resents her treatment of him a little bit.
After prison, he moved in with DJ and his Mama.
Speaking of which, Duncan and DJ's Mama actually became close after Action, with Duncan hanging out with DJ during his downtime. They both didn't expect to like the other.
He's super soft when it comes to physical touch from people he likes, especially girls.
say it with me folks NICLOVER ON TOP! NICLOVER ON TOP! NICLOVER ON TOP!
Cats, Dogs, and Rats (1,698 Words) by mistahmcmuffin Chapter 1/4 | Sweet, Sour Candy.
Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Duncan/Kitty (Total Drama) Characters: Duncan (Total Drama), Kitty (Total Drama) Additional Tags: Rare Pairings, Prison, Duncan can't help but be good, Kitty can't help but tease him FOR being good, Slow Burn, Prison Era Duncan, These two have taken over my mind and opened my eyes to why rarepairs exist, Aged-Up Character(s), Character Study, Because nobody in this damn fandom gets Duncan right and it kills me
Summary: After a couple of years in the big house, Duncan's in the home stretch to get out of prison. Not sure exactly WHAT there is do after prison, but hey, it's something. During a community service act however, a girl catches his eye...forcefully. After a heartwarming (and heartwrenching) act however, he starts to warm up to her. For the first time in years, he's making genuine connection.
Kitty & Emma Headcanons!
Kitty became a MASSIVE Total Drama fan after meeting Owen and Noah. Her favorite season is Action, she claims it's "Just so cozy and warm", which Emma doesn't understand.
Kitty is REALLY BIG on Vocaloids, Utauloids, and because of this obsession hobby, she's also gotten into rhythm games lately. Project Sekai in particular is a favorite of hers.
Emma meanwhile, doesn't listen to much music aside from 'whatever sounds good'. She's too busy with college and law school to have taste, or so says Kitty.
The main reason Emma is so adament on protecting Kitty is because she was the one to primarily raise her. They had a single mom who worked to give them stability, so she and Kitty have always been really close.
Because of having no strong male figures in their lives, it shaped how they both easily fall in love with boys, with Emma having a thing for snarky know-it-alls and Kitty liking more confident, 'unconventional' ones.
Kitty has a bit of body dysmorphia because of how pretty she thinks Emma is. Emma...doesn't help much in this regard.
Emma loves her sister a lot, but often doesn't really give her much agency and to a degree, kind of infantalizes her. After RR it gets a little better, but old habbits die hard.
Kitty is really geeky, but aside from her vocaloid obsession; she's actually really into psychological horror and indie games. She's never been one for big budget titles.
Emma has always been anti-social, primarily because she knows how weak she gets around people she cares about. She views it a weakness on her way to law.
Despite Emma's usual aversion to video games, she has actually played Ace Attorney with Kitty before. Needless to say, she was criticizing every innacuracy, at first out of instinct, then just because she knew it annoyed Kitty.
Emma isn't actually that overprotective of who Kitty dates. She tries to be, but ultimately caves because her kid sister is more adept at arguing than she thought. The only person she'd judge is if she like, dated a criminal or something. What are the odds of that happening?
