Participation is open to everyone, and prompts are given for seven days straight to help spark creativity and encourage a flood of fan creations. “You know, every New Year’s since I was a kid, I’d always make a big long list of all my resolutions for the next year,” Misty says soft as the snow gently falling outside, “but when I laid out the piece of paper this time I just…” she trails off, plastering a half-hearted smile to her face, “I couldn’t figure out what to put down,” she says finally, playing it off like a joke. It doesn’t land.

Nat’s throat tightens, blocking the air clawing its way up her throat. She gets it. She really really does.

Eighteen-year-old Nat had never expected to make it this far. Hell, the Nat from a few months ago had never thought she’d live to see the end of the year. She hadn’t wanted to live to see the end of the year. The future is muddled and blurry, with no clear picture of what to expect. She’d given up on New Year’s resolutions by the time she was twelve. There was no use in planning for the future when nothing ever went as expected for her.

And yet… Nat is forty-two. She’s alive and breathing. Maybe Lottie’s cult teachings rubbed off on her more than she thought they did. Maybe… maybe she can let herself hope.

This month we're kicking off our new monthly event, the MistyNat Monthly Make! At the beginning of each month we'll be posting 10 simple (i.e., one word or short phrase) prompts, intended to inspire MistyNat fanwork creation.

The MistyNat Monthly Make is open to everyone, and all you need to do to participate is to use one (or more, or all!) of the monthly prompts as inspiration for a Misty/Nat-centered fanwork. You can interpret the prompts as liberally as you'd like, and you can make as many creations as you'd like, using as many prompts as you'd like. You can post your creation(s) at any time during the month, and either mention @mistynatweek or tag your creation with #mistynatweek, and we'll reblog it!

For our last party activity, here is a MistyNat Halloween puzzle! You can complete the puzzle here, and be sure to check out the settings at the top to adjust difficulty. Welcome to the MistyNat Halloween Party!

Our first activity is a custom 2048 game! If you've never played it, the traditional 2048 is a puzzle game where you use your arrow keys to shift all tiles in a puzzle up, down, left, or right. The goal is to make two identical tiles touch, and once they do they will double in number. For example, two "2" tiles will touch and create "4", then two "4" tiles will create an "8" and so on.

In this custom version, we have replaced the numbers with images of Misty, Nat, and MistyNat, and asked the question: what if they were dressed for Halloween during every season 1 scene? We start with the canon Halloween scene, and our "2" tile is Misty in her cat costume:

MistyNat Halloween Party begins tomorrow!

Join us from October 27th-October 31st for a MistyNat Halloween Party! Our Halloween Party will kick off with a viewing of The 4th Floor a (somewhat terrible) horror movie starring Juliette Lewis. Join us in our discord October 27th at 7pm ET to watch.

And then on October 28th, we'll be watching The Addams Family at 5pm ET, and Casper at 7pm ET, also in our discord.

MistyNat Week is over, and while we all need to recover before another big event, we thought it might be fun to have a little one in celebration of Halloween! So, how are we going to celebrate?

HALLOWEEN WEEKEND ACTIVITIES From October 27th to October 31st, we'll be releasing some MistyNat and/or Halloween-themed puzzles and games! Those activities will be posted here for you to complete or play at your leisure. You can also reblog to share your results or responses, or you can join us in our discord to discuss! You can expect things like crossword puzzles, ship headcanon memes, MistyNat jigsaw puzzles, etc.

In addition to those activities, we will also be doing some Christina and Juliette horror/Halloween movie screenings in discord! October 27th, 7pm ET: The 4th Floor (Juliette) (warning: creepy/gross insect scenes in this one!) October 28th, 5pm ET: Casper (Christina) October 28th, 7pm ET: The Addams Family (Christina)

HALLOWEEN PROMPTS If you're missing the inspiration of the MistyNat Week prompts, then you're in luck! As part of this celebration, we are also providing Halloween-themed prompts, for anyone who would like to make a fanwork as part of the party festivities! The Halloween prompts are:

MISTYNAT MONTHLY MAKE At the end of this celebration, we will be kicking off our new monthly event, the MistyNat Monthly Make! The Monthly Make will run similar to the Halloween prompts described above, but on a longer time frame. At the beginning of each month, we will be posting 10 simple one word (or short phrase) prompts that fit under a monthly theme. Creators are welcome to choose any or all of those prompts and use them to inspire a fanwork to be posted during that month. This will be a longer-term, lower-pressure type of event than MistyNat Week, but will hopefully provide some rolling inspiration so that we can continue to share in the MistyNat love year-round! More information on this event will be posted at the beginning of November.

MistyNat Week 2023 has officially come to a close and we'd like to thank everyone for their fantastic enthusiasm, participation, and fanworks!!! This week has been so much fun to run and participate in, and we've been blown away by everything you all have created.

Even though the week has finished, that doesn't mean that the fun is done yet! As a reminder, late works are always accepted. So even if you didn't get something done that you were hoping to, or if you get an idea for something tomorrow and are inspired to make it, we will still be happy to receive! Additionally, now is the time for even more commenting and sharing; we know a weeks' worth of fanworks can be overwhelming, and you've probably missed a good handful. So be sure to check the masterlist, and comment on those beautiful creations you didn't get a chance to when they were first posted.(Please also let us know if your fanwork was missed and is not on the document!)

While MistyNat Week is over (for now), stay tuned for announcements on some shorter events in the coming months. Like, perhaps, a little something for Halloween… 👻🎃

MistyNat, a Xena Uber: When Misty reaches out to comfort Nat the night they find Travis's body, both women experience a flash of memory revealing they had lived a similar moment together centuries ago. Misty begins to unravel the mystery of their connection, discovering that she and Nat may in fact be the reincarnated souls of Xena and Gabrielle.
