AUs to the heart's contempt, including some modern ones, so don't expect any loyalty to the canon, nor much happening besides the romance. After the Dust Settles by Bgtea: the Battle of the Five Armies is over, and all the dwarves of the Company survived. To their king's despair, the hobbit they had to thank for that has yet to wake up.
Down By The Creek by Lucigoo89: after a pleasant day at the local fair, one little Englishman changes Thorin's life forever. But life is not fair, and the man is leaving the next day, with no idea of when he will return.
An Ode to Broken Things by Wizards_Pupil: I can't believe I didn't recommend this one before. Prepare to cry. Bilbo has a heart condition that has his days numbered. His only hope lays on the healer Thranduil, but as he is not expecting to come back from the trip to Mirkwood, he hopes to at least share a few more moments with his dear friend (and secretly beloved) Thorin during the journey.
All those nights I spent alone by Lithdraug: glancing at the sleeping Company, Bilbo realizes there's something bothering him, something he didn't knew he was missing. Luckily, a certain king is willing to offer him an friendly ear.
Mad as a Baggins by Rinny636: Bilbo disappears after the Battle of Five Armies, and no amount of searching finds hide nor hair of the former burglar, until Gandalf comes back from the Shire and beyond with unsettling news.
Summer Rain by Lesbian_aunt: a sudden storm makes Bilbo and Thorin seeking shelter at a greenhouse. Looking at the hobbit now, Thorin wanders if it's time to let the truth spill.
A Loophole in the Tapestry by SyrringaVulgarris: to Thorin is offered a chance to go back to day he and Bilbo met and do their adventure again, to this time change how it ends. But as his attitude to the burglar changes and so does the hobbit's development through the quest, is this Bilbo even the same person Thorin once fell in love with?
The Dwarven Smith and the Hobbit Who Loved Him by Haipanda: a wandering dwarf seeking job amongst the hobbits finds welcome and warmth in a certain hobbit's smial.
A King's Ransom by lilithiumwords: the Arkenstone is worth a king's ramson, Balin had said. That gives Bilbo a new idea to stop the coming war.
Written in Stone by xkingevelynx (ebony_dove): during the feast for Thorin`s coronation, one hobbit is missing from the party. The king goes searching for his burglar, and what he finds leaves him speechless.
A Hobbit's Bond by mordelle: a tiny Bilbo Baggins offers the Shire's new blacksmith a flower crown, and even without knowing the seriousness of the gift, Thorin accepts it. As it comes, a soul bond can be very hard to manage when one of the parts is unaware of it's existence.
journey's end by vtforpedro: and for last, something more canon-compliant. In the beautiful shores of Valinor, an old hobbit finally sees his dwarf sitting by his bed, waiting for him to come home.
Remember to spare some kind words to the authors if you can!
Love the idea of hobbits and dwarves having very different insults due to cultural differences, so something that could start a family feud between hobbits means nothing to a dwarf and something that would cause a dwarf to consider you an enemy for life likewise means nothing to a hobbit. Or, better yet, comes off as something else entirely.
This leads to an extended series of confusing conversations between Thorin and Bilbo, who spend the quest calling each other increasingly creative insults and then not understanding why the other barely reacts. This eventually fades into nothing for Thorin and fond comments Bilbo says to himself, at least until the disaster that is the goldsickness-induced breakup right before the battle. This time, they throw the worst insults they know at each other, but as Thorin really gets going, Bilbo stops with a completely baffled look on his face before saying "what the- fuck's sake- is this really the proper time for you to be flirting with me?"
Thorin, who has spent the entire second half of the quest wondering while Bilbo hasn't been responding to his attempts at flirting, snaps out of goldsickness from sheer shock.

Post quest where they are married and some of the royal court aren't happy about Bilbo, then there is the announcement that Thorin is pregnant and no one says anything because "well I guess she came to her senses and got someone on the side to give her a proper heir", also laughing at Bilbo who is glowing since the news and dotes on her pregnant wife not minding at all the people that call her foolish
There is the search of the father and many nobles come forward claiming it's them and that "trust me the pebble is going to look like me", only for thorin to give birth to a very small black haired blue eyes hobbit looking child
Because turns out that if you had done enough good deeds and pray to the goddess of fertility she will grant your wishes
Ok, NOW it’s out of my system. You may recall a cracky Trek/LOTR crossover draw from last month where I laugh over the idea of Jim Kirk belaboring under the assumption that Spock cares that Legolas does parkour and Jim doesn’t.
Well, sometimes a cartoon piano falls on my head and I forget what an absolute nightmare comics are to coordinate – here’s a little rendition of Gimli pretending he’s never had problems with pointy-eared beanpoles, ever, not once in his life.
