Okay, everything is sort of holding steady for now. We’ve gotten enough backstories and flashbacks to fill an entire archive, so maybe we’ll finally start getting answers. Yana can't keep piling on new lore like this anym—
"i went through a month of being raped, my brother died, and i made a contract with a demon who is supposed to devour my soul. nothing worse can happen to me" and then his aunt tries to kill him because she turns out to be a serial killer, and his job is to catch her, and she dies in front of his eyes, and he joins the circus to infiltrate a group kidnapping children, and their father is a guy who wanted to be one of those who tried to use him, but he failed because he was chained to a bed, but he still triggers his ptsd, and he has to kill all the kidnapped children because they won’t be able to deal with the trauma after the events they went through, and the queen finds out so as punishment she tries to frame him for murder, and a circus boy tries to kill him, and suddenly it turns out his enemy is a bunch of zombies, but he survives and his reliable demon turns out to be more vulnerable than he imagined and one of the few people who knew his father closely turns against him, and when he carries out further orders from the queen he almost dies twice, first from gas poisoning and then from being crushed by a tank, and when he returns to england his fiancée runs away from home and doesn’t want to come back, and his friend’s servant dies and his friend will never be the same again, so basically he lost him, and all of that because he couldn’t tell him clearly enough not to interfere in his affairs and he will feel guilt about it for the rest of his life, and in the manor it turns out his brother was resurrected and frames him for murders and takes his property, his title and his fiancée and he is forced to run away, and when he finally thinks he can peacefully conduct his investigation his false identity is exposed from the very beginning and he is in a place where others know more about him than he knows about them, and a strange guy appears who knows sebastian is a demon, and suddenly the queen appears and he is probably like a trapped mouse in a room where cats are waiting for him to be within reach, and his name isn’t even ciel phantomhive.
First a little note for those, who read my researches and analysis about Kuro. I am always open for people taking my stuff as surce of inspiration. But the moment inspiration turns into bloody copy-paste, I am sorry, but you will be blocked.
Fact is, I have blocked someone a few days earlier, because my own screenshots and thoughts about the latest kuro-chap were posted by a different person - nearly identical, who wasn't even tagging my original post. And I am honest. I hate copypasters.
I put so much time into researching history and informations, and I simply do not like it, when people take those and sell it as their ideas. So I really would apreciate it, if you would keep an eye out. If you come across postings, that seem to have my researches / informations on it, then please give me a note of something, so I can block this person.
Thank you very much! 🤍
And now, please enjoy my analysis of the last chapter(s). It got even longer than anticipated.
Maybe you remember my post a few months ago, where I pointed out the possibility of Modri being something like an exorcist and also the element of Seraphim. But let's start at the beginning.
What most of us thought the moment, Yana introduced us with the Nectar Springs Hotel was, how it reminded us of Dantes Inferno.
Dante's Divine Comedy is three parts: Inferno (Hell), Purgatorio, and Paradiso. And they deliberately mirror each other in structure.
While hell goes downwards, heaven goes up. And while Satan is at the bottom, where he is the prisoner in a frozen sea, the Seraphim are on the top. Yes! Not God.
In Paradiso, Dante built the exact inverse: nine heavenly spheres ascending upward. The order of the angelic hierarchies in the Divine Comedy is, in descending rank: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, Angels. University of Leeds
But that wasn't the only moment, Yana gave us hints in Kuro about, where the story was going. It began from the very beginning. This will be something for later. Because it will propably explode your head.
However.
The Seraphim are the most powerful beings in heaven.
They know and love God the most. In other words, the Seraphim sit at the absolute center-top of Heaven, just as Satan sits at the absolute center-bottom of Hell. Nine circles down = nine orders up.
In Dante's Paradiso, the Seraphim emphasize movement toward God through love, and joy is specifically connected with the Seraphim. They are the burning, fire-winged angels of divine love at the very peak of the celestial hierarchy.
The moment I knew it was about the Seraphim, was when I saw it on Modris Boots and his scarf.
But why the connection to Dante or is it simply coinsidence?
Not so with Yana. Because:
The Four Sections: Degrees of Betrayal
The ninth circle is divided into four sub-levels by type of treachery: Caina (traitors to family, named for the biblical Cain who murdered Abel); Antenora (traitors to country or political party); Ptolomea (traitors to guests and hosts); and Judecca (traitors to lords and benefactors — the innermost zone, named after Judas Iscariot). Study.com
Any bells ringing?
Cain and Abel | Ciel and his twin
Antenora | Ciel & Sebastian against the Queen
Ptolomea | The Nectar Spring host against Ciel & Sebastian
Judecca | Actually open for interpretation
Even when I believe that Kuro is so full of betrayl, that many more falls into those four parts. Because practically Judecca could even be seen at the moment Sebastian tried to lure Ciel into giving in right at the beginning ... But this is what Kuro is. Deep in its core. And that's what makes it so good!
And what I meant with it began earlier than that:
Interesting side note, that Dante and Virgil kissed after this scene in the boat. Because Virgil was proud of Dante's reaction toward the sinner.
And Ciel told Sebastian he did so good.
--- Don't think I am finished. 'Cause now we take a look on that certain medallion Modri was showing so often, that it can only be a sign ---
This is a medaillon of the holy Nicholas of Myra. Interesting is, he is the son of wealthy Christian parents who passed away early, Nicholas dedicated his entire inheritance to helping the poor and sick. Also he is connected with traditions including saving children from being murdered, rescuing young women from prostitution, multiplying grain during famine, and guiding sailors to safety by appearing in a halo of light over a ship's mast.
(Would be funny as hell, when this would be Ciels real name. Even when I don't care about, because after all. Ciel is Ciel for me XD) And not funny as hell, but ironic, that it also fits for the things (inclusded prostitution, because he gave two prostitutes meals for their answers in than pub) Sebastian already did ...
But the interesting things won't stop here either. Because ...
And now please sit down, my lovely guests.
Nicholas was a staunch defender of the Holy Trinity. According to tradition, he was so zealous in his beliefs that he briefly struck the heretic Arius during the Council.
And let's take a look what's also seems to have connection toward the Holy Trinity.
The crowned triangle on a bell is essentially saying: "The Holy Trinity reigns supreme"
Another sidenote is, that the Holy Trinity can also be in common with the Lily - what is a flower Yana shows most in connection with Undertaker.
--- Back to the Seraphim ---
"I adjure you by the holy angels, thrones, dominions, principalities, powers, and authorities; by the many-eyed Cherubim and the six-winged Seraphim to tell me immediately how your name is called" and separately:
"He who is honored by the encircling Powers, the awesome six-winged and many-eyed Cherubim and Seraphim… Satan: the Lord rebukes thee!"
Those are words spoken by Exorcists, who uses the Seraphim as a powerful weapon in order to fight against demons.
But what's the difference between a Seraphim and Cherubim? Or are those the same?
They are and yet they are not.
The Seraphim does have six wings. Two for flying, two over it's face an two on it's feet. They guard the throne of God and cleanse humanity from sin (Book of Jesaja)
The Cherubim however are called the wisdom and they represent the fullness of divine wisdom and knowledge. They have only four wings and often four faces. Human, Lion, Bull and Eagle (Three different Voices, after Modris words.)
They serve as guardians of God's holiness (or sometimes guardians of Paradise or the Ark of the Covenant) and act as the immediate bearers or attendants of the throne.
Short:
While Seraphim primarily represent and praise God's love and holiness, Cherubim are the powerful guardians of divine truth and presence.
So I believe that the new character
is probably a Seraphim while Modri is used by a Cherubim, for his face being used to be the human.
--- And how will things continue? ---
I stay with my years old opinion, that Ciel and Sebastian will be seperated and Sebastian will get hurt in the progress of freeing himself, for saving Ciel. Because this is exactly what Dantes Inferno is about.
The Demon who trapped himself in ice, by forcefully trying of freeing itself.
But people seem to forget, that Ciel is after all caring for his demon. Otherwise he wouldn't have asked him, if he even enjoeyed his dinner ... And he will either kill himself, because he won't give in, nor would he wants to be held by the side of his dead brother. He is too proud, to let himself use, also ... Or, he gave already Sebastian the order, if things get down the shithole, that Sebastian should take what is his. His soul.
Interesting side thought.
When Yana really goes down the road of Dante. Then Ciel's death / taking Ciels soul, will bring Sebastian to tears, what is the beginning of his neverending hell of being frozen.
That's is it. My thoughts and conclusions about the last chapters and informations Yana droped on us.
I would be happy to read your thoughts. And please do me a favor. If you want to use certain informations of this post, then tag me at least. :)
Around 3 am, I woke up with a bothersome feeling... I might have an explanation for why Sebastian and Modri's demon "look" so similar but behave so differently.
Until now, I had blown off any ideas in the fandom of Sebastian "having a twin" as a completely ridiculous crack theory, but now I feel as though I should consider it (or at least the idea that he has a "brother") as a feasible (yet still crack) alternative to Sebastian and Modri's demon being one and the same.
It's hard to define what makes two demons siblings, let alone twins, when they are shapeshifting swirls of inky goop... other than perhaps the mere fact they are "born" around the same time, have similar physical features, or function within basic constructs that have similar properties.
Examples might include (but not be limited to):
First existing within a certain timeframe of each other
First being summoned into the human realm within a certain timeframe of each other
Both springing forth from the same pre-existing source or location (and I don't simply mean Hell)
Both being made of the same materials (maybe not all demons in the Kuroverse actually have this goopy quality)
Both following a particular set of basic rules (defined as something completely separate from their aesthetics)
Both using the same or similar contract seals
What finally made me seriously consider the wild possibility -- what basically woke me up so early this morning -- is the mere fact that Modri's demon keeps being shown with stacked eyes on its right side... but ch225's cover art shows Sebastian with certain parts exposed "for what they are" beneath the human facade, and one exposed feature is stacked eyes on his left side.
I don't want to go quite as far as suggesting they could actually be mirror twins (like our earl and real Ciel), but I do find it interesting that Yana-san has made the conscious (and I do believe it's conscious) decision to reverse the placement of this distinctive feature.
If she had wanted to emphasize them being the same demon, she could have reversed the image for the cover of ch225, so that we would have seen this:
Therefore, I feel like she might be trying to say they are not the same... but are very similar for a specific reason.
Even the cover art for ch226 makes me think Sebastian could be pondering whether his own sibling is the one who had a "dalliance" with Modri.
I've seen this cover art described as showing both our earl and Sebastian bored by Modri's tale. But what if our earl is the only bored one here? If even he is just bored; he could be uneasy. Sebastian, on the other hand, seems downright pensive. Does he now recall the contract but not the name or face of his accuser? Or does he maintain that it's not him while getting the uneasy feeling he knows which demon it is? ...And why they are getting confused for each other?
I'm also reminded by this ch226 cover art that neither of them has lit their cigar yet. Once Modri once again accuses Sebastian as being the demon from his own past, our earl's quickest way to clear things up might involve ordering Sebastian to spin the wheel next. Besides, Fairchild, as the game master, might insist that no arguments break out until each player has taken their turn.
If he can't lie, he told the truth when he said to Ciel he can't remember Modri. Which makes me wonder: If this demon is really Sebastian, are these arrows not only sending any demon back to where he came from, but also deleting all memories of the current events? (And why does discount van Helsing have double fangs?)
to the anon who asks me about my proship stance, I have already answered every single question you've asked many, many times on my blog and I don't want to repeat myself again, especially when my answer stays the same.
I consider myself proship, profic and anti censorship. because fiction is not reality. there are some topics in fiction that I am uncomfortable with, but what I do is that I curate my own internet experience by avoiding topics I don't like and minding my own business — instead of harassing real people over fiction.
and no, fiction does not reflect a person's in-real-life moral compass. I enjoy slasher movies, that does not mean I enjoy murders in real life. I play video games that contain violence, that does not mean I condone violence in real life.
fiction is. just fiction.
art can be taboo and macabre.
not to mention how a lot of victims and survivors use dark fiction to cope and heal from their trauma.
but even if someone is never a victim, thought crimes and dark fantasies are just that: fantasies. they are not real. nobody in real life is being harmed.
my belief is that people can enjoy whatever they want in fiction. as long as no one in real life is harmed.
to quote what I have already said for a dozen of times: if someone lets fiction affect them enough to the point they do bad things and hurt people in real life, then they are already troubled and are a danger to themself and those around them, with or without the media they consume.
also censorship is a fascist tool meant to control people and a slippery slope. if we allow one thing to be censored, anything and everything that isn't sunshine and rainbow and of conservative value can and will be censored too. and harassment is something I will never condone, especially when it's over fiction.
if it's stupid to harass people for enjoying horror movies, it's just as stupid to harass people over fictional ships or what they read/write about fictional characters.
I know my followers are tired of me repeating myself again and again and again. I am too.
fanfic writers deserve to be able to do things that will land them on the news without any consequences at least once a month, because imagine being kind enough to let people read your works—that you write for yourself and your own enjoyment—for free (also see my em dash that I refuse to let ai take from me?) and then some entitled asshole thinks they can just say whatever they want.
nobody “talks like chatgpt”. chatgpt talks like human, because it was trained on how human talked and it was trained to mimic how human wrote.
public bookmarks are public. I am begging more people to realize and remember this. anybody, including the writers, can see the comments you leave on your public bookmarks.
this type of comment is the exact reason more and more writers stop sharing their works online. ai witch hunt, speculations and accusations harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more. by leaving this type of comments, you are helping ai destroy the writing community.
things I won’t let ai take away from human writers
em dash
“not x, not y, but z”
short sentence stacking as a stylistic choice
none of these belong to ai. these are all what human writers have been writing since day one, way before ai was invented. ai was trained to mimic how human writers write — so em dash, not x not y but z and short sentence stacking would never have been used by ai at all if ai hadn’t learned and mimicked them from human writers.
no, you are not “fighting against ai” by accusing every work that has em dash, not x not y but z or short sentence stacking in it as ai-generated, you are helping ai harm the writing community by engaging in witch hunt and scaring human writers away from creating/sharing their works for fear of being wrongly accused of using ai.
speculations, accusations and ai witch hunt harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.
Viscount Druitt Character Analysis VVyvern’s Version Introduction This was inspired by Penny Clearwater’s Aleister Chamber Ana
This was something I spent a lot of time working on and wanted to share it here. The document itself is my attempt at a complex, non-bias analysis for Aleister Chamber. Huge shout out to @mivolisacb, who helped me a lot by looking it over, helping me know if I missed details, giving a second opinion and choosing many of the pictures used in the analysis.
I have left comments unlocked in the document, constructive criticism and feedback is appreciated.
