âghost of the past â
injoonmiâ:
injoonâs mouth ran on instinct. of course he would say this to him. thatâs was what they did in the past. surely the other thought he wanted to say aloud was along the lines of âyou look like shit,â but that would only be pointing out the obvious.
it was nice that he took him off guard even for a second, but his reaction confirmed that this, whoever this was standing in front of him, was not exactly the same person injoon thought he was. he could stare at the man for hours, studying his facial features, knowing every detail, probably even naming every mark he knew on his body, but the otherâs recognition wasnât there. this person didnât know who injoon was.
despite that, he still looked like the same son of a bitch he fell in love with.
âi do think so,â he replied back with, lips curling up slightly into a smirk. old habits die hard, and thatâs even more obvious to him now when his comebacks arise so easily to the otherâs every word. âand frankly, if you knew you looked like that and still came to work, itâs like youâre asking people to say something about that. but i wasnât looking at your bruisesâŠâ âi was looking at you.â was right on the tip of his tongue, but even that was too fucking cheesy to say in any setting.
so he dropped the topic, shook his head and reminded himself on why he was here in the first place. âanyway, iâll order two iced americanos. my friend will just have to deal with that.â
oho. this one is pretty good.
and itâs actually a nice wind of change. in his years of flirting with the customers (the interesting one. he has a standard!), seokmin rarely finds one that can bring him this close into being flustered. most of the time they either flat out ignore him, roll their eyes, or just move to the pick-up station wordlessly with a blush.
but not this one. no sir. maybe itâs worth a try?
seokmin feigns a sheepish laughter--sounding too genuine than he had intended--as he punched the orders into the register. if one of his baristas were close by, theyâd probably give him hell for that later. âsmall, regular, or venti, mister...?âÂ
turns his gaze to the customer, sentence trailing off on purpose in an inquiry. if heâs gonna make this one a potential date, might as well ask for their name first.
throw some bacon on it
@hunterxmi (cont.)
holy shit, his head hurts like hell.
and no, he didnât stay up late last night. as a matter of fact, itâs probably the earliest time seokmin tried to sleep. he had hit the bed by nine pm as opposed to ten or eleven pm on his daily routine. no underground gigs, no stake outs, no owner stuff.
emphasis on âtriedâ, though.
âkyungja, youâre talking too loud!!â he whines, fingers massaging his temple trying to ease the throbbing pain. while he appreciates the younger caring for him, seokmin isnât exactly in the joking mood. âlower your volume a bit. the neighbors are going to hear...â
most of the time, seokmin would respond to kyungsooâs jabs playfully. he finds his lack of expression rather amusing and willing to receive punches or slaps just to see if kyungsoo can look angry. but this time heâs feeling far too sticky, too worn out, to try.
fucking night terrors.
pokes--plays the eggs in front of him with his fork. âwhy are you in a rush anyways, late for something?â
grin department,
phantomxmiâ:
anger never looks especially good on a girl who looks good being the opposite of negativity; it was a shame frowns came up more often than looks of happiness did, and this was no different. seething through her teeth, hyerin is even more perplexed at the lingering flavors on her tongue that donât seem to want to leave anytime soon, and she really should have known better the moment seokmin had told her he had a âfreeâ taste test for her at the cafĂ©. Â
cheap bastard, everything he did came with a payment plan.Â
âyou think i wonât kill you?â she growls, watching helplessly as the footage of her unattractive expressions goes live on whatever platform the devil himself had decided to upload it on. âbecause i will! mark my words, iâm going to kill you dead.â somehow, somewhere, moral compass begone. âoh noââ she wants to vomit simply at the thought of drinking anything that wasnât water for the time being, even if they were the ânormalâ drinks he had promised her prior to their engagement. âi donât trust you to give me any drinks for the rest of your life.â a shame really, considering seokminâs coffee in the morning was actually good (a secret sheâd keep to her grave, most likely), but sheâs debating the fact of the matter as she leans back in her chair, desperately wanting the taste of egg in her mouth to dissipate sooner rather than later.Â
oop- there goes the death threat. âwell... youâre not wrong? people die if they are killed.â he merely replies with a shrug, feigning nonchalance. she isnât the first person to have ever said that to his face and certainly not the last. seokmin is just far too desensitized to actually take it seriously, despite knowing hyerin is fully capable of killing him if she wants to.
âdonât throw up on the floor, though. i just had it scrubbed squeaky clean.â he says jokingly, but also slightly ridden with guilt because he doesnât want to make hyerin actually sick. sheâs still a loyal customer and (maybe) a friend. looks around for a container and grabs the nearest mop bucket sitting on the floor âhere, throw up in this instead.âÂ
as if on cue, one of his employees walks out of the pantry carrying another tray of drinks--this time the legitimate ones that wonât kill people with one gulp. seokmin takes the tray from their hands with a smiley âthanksâ and places the plastic cups one by one of the table in front of hyerin.Â
âiâm sure i can change your mind with these, though.â he says as he sit down right across the table, putting the tray on the chair next to his. he first points at the drink on his right side. âthis one is called âberry goodâ, which is frozen strawberries, banana, and yoghurt. the middle one is âtaro-bly frozenâ aka an iced taro frappe with chunks of chocolate chips blended inside.â
then, he points to the ordinary looking iced tea. âand the last one is an iced jasmine lemon tea! havenât come up with a pun for that yet, but maybe youâll think of something after drinking it.â nods with a teethy smile. âpromise, if itâs as bad as the previous one iâll let you punch me on the face.â

danixmiâ:
The only positive thing about this was that they were both serious about it. He didnât have that type of aura around him that would imply that he was out here to get her, far from it actually. If it wasnât for her own problems, it almost seemed he was going after like a hungry dog. It made her more curious and almost eager to find out who this person was and why he wanted to find him so badly.
âWasnât planning on it, if you could tell.â She shrugs, finally shoving all the pictures back in the envelope with a lot of distaste and a grimace on her face. âAt least they are not going to fire me for just simply looking someone up.âÂ
Was she scared about this? Yes, the idea of Kyungsoo being out there doing god knows what scared her to death. It was like her little brother all over again, and it pains her to see that he was literally at arms reach, but he wasnât taking her hand like Kyungsoo wasnât grasping on hers either.Â
âYou donât know Kyungsoo as I do.â She starts. Dani likes to believe that yes, deep down, she knew the guy from the inside and out, no one can unlearn the things they already been taught. âPersonality can change, but habits die fucking hard. If Iâm correct, he would probably color code the shit out of his agenda if he could. Just find out where he is all the time.âÂ
laughs at the femaleâs remarks. something about the idea of someone like her getting fired from the MPD sounds ridiculous. itâs rare for him to let himself engage in a playful banter in his âsenâ persona, but seokmin retorts anyway. âyeah. they might send you off to a suicide mission and kill you, though.â he wants to add like in the movies, but chooses against it just for the dark humor.
who is she to kyungsoo, anyway? why would a gang member has a connection with the police? not to mention the way sheâs been addressing him... as if she knows him really well.Â
shit, kyungja, what did you get yourself into?Â
âokay, fine. whatever.â he rolls his eyes, although itâs most likely obstructed by the black cap heâs wearing. irritation now more pronounced in his tone--he really donât know kyungsoo much. âiâll find a way to get his schedule, somehow.âÂ
of course, thereâs also a chance that this baekhyun guy is actually a top secret the government is trying to keep shut. if this is the case then both of them better get ready to sacrifice more than theyâre willing. dani with her job, and him with one of the few people he genuinely cares about.Â
âiâd be careful if i were you, though. losing your job means losing my intel as well.â
if you had to lose everyone in your life except for one person, who would you want to keep around the most?
HONESTY HOUR // accepting !!
thereâs a momentary pause before his lips tug into a small smile. âdonât tell him, but itâs kyungsoo.â
before one accuse him of being a masochist, seokmin does agree that the younger male can be⊠rough, at times. but he's also attentive in a distant, tsundere? type of way. thereâs countless of times where kyungsoo would take care of him during his worst days, like cooking breakfast when seokmin is too sore to get up from bed after one of his gigs.Â
itâs quite ironic, considering seokmin used to find the male unapproachable when he first moved in. now? heâd even call kyungsoo a friend.
although he doubt kyungsoo would share the same sentiment...
âkidâs harsh, at times. but he has dealt with me for months now. not many can stay sane that long.â laughs lightly.Â
huff n puff ,
mieunmiâ:
she could say it time and time again, sheâs not a cat person but she has to admit ( only to herself of course ) that this isnât so bad. maybe itâs because most cats are too similar to herself  â  pretending to be aloof but still secretly seeking out affection, taking it when they wished and not looking overly eager in comparison to the common alternative when it came to house pets of that size. this cat seems particularly affectionate and she canât find a reason to complain when he seems to note the five minute rule sheâd already set in mind.Â
her brow arches at the â threat â and itâs more amusing than she cares to say. does that really work on any animal? then again, she canât say much when a majority of her life was spent with less actual freedom than a domesticated pet. just like one, she was groomed to be who she is now and she finds herself slipping into thoughts too pitiful for her to continue. how pathetic, she muses, for her to let that escape the vault of her mind because of a few minutes with a cat.Â
picking up the cat when it stands and rests its paws on her thigh highs, she pretends to be angry, eyes narrowing as she scolds it under her breath. â i doubt your owner could replace these shoes so easily. â itâs not merely a matter of money, which she believes he must have at least a decent amount of to afford such a foreign breed of cat ( which is another assumption, she isnât too familiar in the end ), but the rarity of them. one thing she was taught from a young age is that a name comes with a price.Â
â youâre a boy, right? hm, consider yourself lucky then, to have been born an animal, though they are both pretty close.â for a moment, she realizes how weird she must seem now, to be visibly against the idea at first only to talk to the cat like a person.Â
when seokmin walks out of the bookstore--a jubilant smile on his face--he didnât think heâd come back to this.
his lips twitched at this turn of events, amusement bubbling up his chest when pan raise both of his front paws on the girlâs chin. even more so that she actually held him in her hands without any signs of hesitance in her gesture. maybe in the end people do have a secret soft spot for cats, no matter how they proclaim the opposite...Â
seokmin chooses that moment to intervene with the exchange, a cheeky grin upon his lips as he approaches them. âyou know, you shouldâve told me that you like cats,â he remarks lightly. âso i wouldnât have to beg like that earlier.â
âbut a promise is a promise, after all. iâll treat you to something,â well, itâs not exactly treating because itâs his own cafe anyway. âthatâs if you have free time?â
are you satisfied with your life and the person that you are? if not, what's something that you would change?
HONESTY HOUR // accepting !!
âiâm pretty satisfied, i guess.â shrugs. hard to not be when you donât even have the slightest idea of who you truly are. âat least, i donât want to change anything. i have a home, people i can call friends, and a cafe to take care of.â
he never really understood why people tend to be dissatisfied with themselves or their situation. maybe some can become successful in their journey to find absolute power or wealth, but there are also many who ends up miserable because of their own greed. personally, seokmin would rather not drink from that cup.
call him a loser, but hey--you only live once. might as well enjoy it to the fullest.
---> my intentions
mixheominâ:
Immediately he bursts out laughing, he covers his mouth, tries to tone down his laugh. Shortly he looks at the guy, but again he turns away. Unbelievable. Oh how lovely, Min was seconds away from getting eggs at him. The guy really got the whole situation wrong, this was a big misunderstanding, a fun one. Min flirts a lot, with a lot of people, and itâs easy to say that people normally act differently to his flirting, butâbut none has acted like this, suddenly shouting, and warning Min about they were about to throw their eggs at him.
His laughter finally calms down, his smile from before comes back to his lips, he smiles at the guy again. The whole situation has turned out different than expected, but in the end the guy still accepts his offer. His hands drive through his hair, he swings his arms around the guy âsweet. Where do you want to go?â
is this guy really laughing?? after he threatened him with eggs?? the a u d a c i t y. âdude, iâm not joking!! i couldâve really egged you and ran away! you really want to deal with the smell tonight?â on second thought maybe he shouldâve thrown an egg or two, just to get the message across. as easy-going as seokmin can be, heâs also a skilled hitman. sneaking up on one isnât exactly a good idea, especially at this late at night.
âi thought you have something planned?â he shoots back with another question. âiâm pretty sure i donât look like a guy who goes to the club all the time, so youâre gonna have to decide this one yourself, pretty boy.â
and then youâll realize, youâve lost control.
inner demons.
what is one thing that would totally break you?
HONESTY HOUR // accepting !!
lets out a light chuckle. âwow. getting personal, arenât we?â he manages a quip as he leans back into his seat. regardless of the clear hesitation upon his features, seokmin lets his thoughts drift to the dull white ceiling above, fingers intertwined on his stomach.Â
he learns quickly in his line of work that everyone has their own weak points, not even excluding those who are of high position of power. itâs easier to break people with superficial traits such as greed or power-hungry, because you just need to dig a little deep into their past, or pose a threat to their source of income. the honest people? itâs usually their loved ones; may it be a significant other, a family member, a petâtake them away, and theyâll break down on their own.
and seokmin? even to this day, heâs still trying to discover himself.
âi dunnoâŠ. losing my cafe, maybe?â his fingers are now scratching his chin. âi mean, this cafe is basically my motherâs legacy. wouldnât you want to take care of a deceased loved onesâ belongings?â
itâs not a complete lie; this place is probably the only thing seokmin has a strong attachment to, aside from his âhomeâ. heâd even dare to say that he prefers his day job as the awakeningâs owner any day. helping the baristas out, coming up with new concepts for each seasons... it has given him a sense of stability within his turbulent thoughts.Â
who knows? maybe one day, heâll have someone to get attached too as well.Â
way down we go.
mingyuxmiâ:
none of this was going according to plan. if mingyu didnât die tonight, he had a feeling that his boyfriend would take care of that. heâd been reckless and not utilizing all of his senses the way that he should have. part of him nearly hated himself for allowing this to get so out of hand. he wasnât supposed to get in over his head, he was supposed to stay alert and keep his guard up. it all happened so fast. truthfully, it was so much of a blur to him that he couldnât even explain what went down if he wanted to. fight or flight kicked in the moment he processed that everything was going to hell and he knew that making it out alive was so, so much more important than whatever revenge he desired to seek.
he kept trying to stop himself from thinking the worst thoughts. this wasnât the time for him to work himself up. after all, heâs been through worse⊠so much worse. the pain he could take, but he knew that if he didnât get some sort of help, and fast, he may end up passing out. passing out could lead to bleeding out⊠that wasnât an option. so, he fought his way toward a populated area. maybe if he could make it to a shop, or even someoneâs home if he was desperate enough, this would turn out okay. all he knew was that he was currently swimming up shit creek with his mouth wide open. this fucking sucked. anxiety started creeping in when his mind flashed to wonwoo and he sadly had to push the thought of his boyfriend away.Â
survival was the most important thing right now. thinking about that is how he ended up stumbling his way to⊠some location⊠he hoped that it wasnât void of life because god knows he needed assistance. losing his balance, he ends up falling and crashing into an object, making a louder noise than he intended. bad news, he could pique the interest of unwanted passersby. good news, maybe a kind and caring soul will find him and want to help. luckily for mingyu, when he is approached moments later, it appeared he was fortunate to stumble upon the latter. the panic in the otherâs voice is certainly concerning, but mingyu tries to solely focus on their question. âlong story⊠wrong place, wrong time⊠this goddamn cityâŠâ
if this is what being a responsible owner going to cost him, maybe seokmin should just hire someone to do his bookkeeping instead and go clubbing next time.
then again, if he wasnât here, this dude wouldnât survive.
âyeah, okay, i donât appreciate you bleedinâ all over my backyard either!â if he isnât too busy panicking, seokmin would have laughed at how high-pitched his own voice is. who wouldnât panic if a stranger just staggered into your backyard and bled everywhere? what if the attacker followed him here? if he fights back, he might draw suspicion. if he doesnât, he might die.
okay. its no use worrying about that. he just have to deal with it when--if it comes. for now he has a more important matter in hand.
âhey, stay awake goddammit!â he pats the maleâs cheeks not-so-gently. if heâs still conscious, that means the blood loss isnât extensive yet. âdonât fall asleep, okay? iâll talk your ears off if i have to.â
the lack of lighting in his backyard does nothing to help seokmin assess the damage inflicted upon the stranger. should he move him inside? would that be safe enough for him? heâs no doctor, but he has dealt with the human body enough to know how to stop a hemorrhaging and how to aggravate it. the latter includes moving the body carelessly.
and the irony is, he doesnât even know where the wound is unless he brings the dude inside. fuck. heâs gotta make the difficult decision, huh.Â
seokmin lifts the stranger into a sitting position by his nape, slinging one of his arms to his shoulder in the process. âhey kid, i know youâre in pain, but we gotta get you inside the house,â he begins. the living room should be light enough for him to perform first aid there. âbear it just a little bit more, yeah? i know youâre stubborn enough to not die in here. whatâs your name?â
(wait that wasn't a question) what is your biggest regret in life?
HONESTY HOUR // accepting !!
hums introspectively, fingers drumming on his right thigh. what does he regret in life? his past self probably has a lot--not that he remembers it--but so far in his two years of living as oh seokmin, thereâs nothing upsetting enough to be deemed regrettable. maybe over trivial stuff like not selling hot chocolate with chili during winter last year.Â
so he ends his silence with a shrug, then his âanswerâ. âi donât think i have one...? i mean, i do have a lot of regrets in my life, but i just move on and learn from it.âÂ
and itâs not like heâs lying. although seokmin questions himself a lot, heâs quite sure heâs not the regrettable type. maybe someone who gets bored of things too easily, but at least heâs not stuck in the past. whatever that is...Â
who was your childhood hero?
HONESTY HOUR // accepting !!
honest answer: he doesnât remember.
but technically, heâs supposed to tell the truth right? would âi donât rememberâ count as a valid answer? probably not.Â
think, think. who would oh seokmin consider as his childhood hero? the old lady never tells him about what kind of a person her son was before his death, nor if there was any father figure in his life. he read somewhere that boys usually consider their father their hero. or at least those with a fully functional family.
alright, time to pull something out of his ass like usual.
âmy mom. she raised me all by herself while running a coffee shop.â cue the smile and reminiscent gaze to the ceiling. âsheâs the definition of a tiger mom, but she did leave me with something to live for.â
nods to himself a couple of times. âalso, weâre having a special promotion for summer-themed drinks so be sure to drop by!âÂ
wow đ
