Willmodo Headcanons 🐐🦎
As expected, they started out as just teammates. As seen throughout the movie, they were just pretty friendly. Modo is handsy sure, but he's like that with others, nothing untypical at first. After the events of the first movie, that's when their relationship truly started to blossom since they now have the time to get to know each other better. During their friendship phase, it started out with winks passing by, conversations not related to sports and hugs that slowly lasted a little longer. Subtle inside jokes, lingering gazes in the locker room and Modo picking up/hugging Will whenever their team wins. It took a while for others to notice their unique friendship.
It took a while for Will to fully vibe with Modo's uh...presence. This isn't to say that Will is actually uncomfortable with Modo by means. Modo can be a bit much to those who don't know him well. As they interacted more, Will started to be more at ease with being around Modo. From not understanding Modo's jokes to laughing at them alongside others. Will slowly became charmed with Modo's eccentric behavior.
As shown in the movie, Modo instantly adored Will's presence upon seeing him for the first time. Of course, he's more than eager to meet his new teammate. After the events of the first movie, Modo became more interested in Will than ever for achieving such a massive feat for 'smalls'. As they interacted more, Modo found Will's down-to-Earth nature endearing. He can't really explain it, but Will felt so...different from the others.
Their relationship started becoming serious when Will & Modo started having one on one roarball sessions in the roarball court. Late night texts, gaming sessions that ended up becoming sleepovers with just the two of them and even knowing the locations of the keys to each other's houses. Modo keeping one of Will's hoodies and Will keeping one of Modo's skins (ik that sounds weird, but it's strangely cute, ok?)
The rest of their teammates started to have their suspicions confirmed when Modo outright stated that only Will is allowed to touch his egg. They already had suspicions before while noticing how Will & Modo interacted from time to time. Everyone's jaw dropped to the floor since Modo never allowed anyone to touch his egg before, despite how much longer they knew him before Will entered the picture. Lenny and Olivia started placing bets on who will confess first (Lenny placed his bet on Modo, Olivia placed her bet on Will).
Daryl & Hannah immediately knew Will & Modo started to catch feelings for each other after once randomly seeing them together at Whiskers and deciding to spy on them for a while through a window. Daryl almost exposed his and Hannah's presence with his gasp upon witnessing Carol teasing Will with an upcoming Valentine's Day date special menu. Afterwards, they can't pass up the opportunity to occasionally tease Will about his developing crush on Modo.
Speaking of fans, many started to speculate whether or not those two will be an item. Fans quickly started suspecting upon the existence of fan sightings of the two in public together becoming more frequent. Rumors started to spread like wildfire across social media platforms because of the photo a fan took of Will leaning on Modo's shoulder at a skate park. Despite a small minority consisting of rabid Modo simps not being very pleased by this, this remained mostly light-hearted fun among fans. Initially, Will and Modo denied these rumors upfront upon being asked by paparazzis, reporters & passerby.
Modo fell first, Will fell harder.
Modo is the first to realize his feelings. He realized his feelings after saving Will from being mugged while walking home from practice one night. Somehow, the two accidentally took each other's gym bags after practice. Anyway, Modo was shocked to find out that Will did all his best to protect his egg (and the egg didn't have a single crack). Will doesn't yet fully know why the egg was important to Modo and still chose to protect it from a pair of thugs despite being heavily beaten up while doing it. Will was thrown off guard when Modo pulled him in a tight embrace instead of his egg. Afterwards, Modo insisted on walking Will home that night so that he can tend to his injuries. On the way to Will's home, Modo told Will the reason he cared about the egg so much. For a while, Modo was extra vigilant on Will walking home after practice.
Will realized his true feelings for Modo while in a deep conversation with Jett. Jett knew that Will & Modo would become more their friends early on. She asked Will some hard-hitting questions that made him realize his feelings for Modo. It took a while for Will to realize his feelings because he's just simply never been in a relationship before. Jett then gave sage advice to Will on what he must do afterwards.
Their first kiss was on live TV. To say this is a massive spectacle would me a a huge understatement. After their team won another championship, in the heat of the moment, Will confessed to Modo. Modo was shocked to find that Will confessed first. Modo thought of confessing to Will after the game. Right after Modo reciprocates, Will kissed him. On the mouth. In front of thousands in the stadium and millions watching from live broadcasts. Gasps can be heard across spectators watching from the inside and out. The recently engaged sports announcer couple broke the silence with commentary they struggled to deliver out of shock. Rusty was like:"ha, told ya so!" Towards Chuck. Almost everyone have their eardrums ruptured from the squee sounds from of a group of Willmodo fangirls among spectators.
Cue for another victorious cheer among teammates. Unfortunately for Lenny, he owed Olivia a $100. The night ended with our new couple heading home separately, feeling too awkward to send the night together because of the massive stunt they did. However, sometime after they got to their respective homes, they stayed up until 4 in the morning in video chatting.
This event went insanely viral. So much so, even non-sports fans knew about it. The kiss made headlines for weeks on end, social media platforms went wild among fans and general users. Our two love birds got hounded by paparazzi and reporters constantly for a while. It got to a point where the two couldn't go outside for a while due to the frenzy they caused.
Once the storm settles down a little and with things becoming less awkward, Will and Modo met again face-to-face. To truly make things official, Will decides to ask Modo out on their first real date at an amusement park.
