That’s it for this one, enjoy reading!
A dark and pitch black night, the only thing shining being the full moon and your flashlight. You sit steady in the saddle on your horses back, scanning the surrounding trees and rustling bushes.
An undeniable creep flashes up your spine, a cold shiver that hits you unexpectedly. These are the woods you grew up in, no quarter in these woods is unfamiliar to you, yet you can’t shake the feeling off.
The horse you trust with all your heart carries you through the night, steady breathing and thudding hoofs, the only sounds that should be heard. The smell of sulfur hits your nose, you turn and tilt your head around in disbelieve. Your ears throb in the cold after a harsh sound, a wave of powder reeking heat flashes over your cold face. A riffle shot echos through the trees and right through your eardrums.
Your horse tenses up and stands still, not moving a single muscle through tension, head held high, ears tilting in every possible direction BUT to you. The sound of your heart beating strongly through your chest marks silence, rushing your cold and shaken ears with blood and warmth.
Your eyes dart around in haste, not able to make out from how far away that shot echoed or where it came from in the first place. You were sure about one thing though, that you needed to get out of here. And your horse felt the same way, the tension not lost in its legs and panic slicing trained relaxation. You feel a quick and sharp tug, your whole torso bend back over the side of the saddle and foot lost stirrup. Sharp ringing flooded your senses, adrenaline spiking at an all time high.
You fell, your horse bolted.
The reality and dimension couldn't hit you through the thick wall of adrenaline rush, vision blurry before it cleared out in the dark. Now you felt it; the heavy sting like static noise inside your back, wich you landed on with zero protection. You got up, or you anticipated it, but your legs didn't move more then an inch. It got blurry again, panic flooding in, you were paralyzed, at least for a good moment. The only sting you were able to feel were pine needles spiking into your hands. You had fallen before, but never out of pure panic from your horse, the one that had been around and got trained by you.
The aftermath couldn't reach you, but haze sure did. You could barely tilt your head around, before thudding cut through ringing in your ears, the extern sound getting closer to you. Dry eyes trying to catch what was approaching, so dry it hurt in the cold, adrenaline wasn't letting you blink to wet your eyes, not when a dark, lit up blob of color moved over your vision field.
A face, looking at you from above. Firm arms snaked around your torso, hooking under your arms to lift you. Sounds echoed through your ringing dazed ears, voices. You could make out another approaching blob in your dizziness, holding something in their hands, something riffle shaped. Then the speck of light and color mixed with pitch black, vision lost and sounds cut.
You fell unconscious.
