This was a cool event. Now I wouldnāt give a nickel for anything on MTV.
Fans discussing Michael Jackson before The Jacksons' concert, 1984.
08.29.1958 - The legend was born. ā„
Today has been very distressing for all of us, and Iād like to thank you for your prayers at this horrible time. I would also like to remind some in the media that the voice recording of Michael does not show/prove he was āan addictā ā and this leap to agree with the defense is unfair and inaccurate. The prosecution said my brother āwas under the influence of UNKNOWN agentsā at the time of that recording by Murray. That some people, Jane Valez Mitchell HLN and Ted Rwlands CNN, make statements saying this shows my brother to be āa drug addictā is not what was said in court re that recording. Events are upsetting enough without correspondents adding their own interpretation (or back-dating events to 1993). No-one can rule out the prospect that Michael was groggy because of something administered to make him relax/sleep. That does not make him an addict. I would also add that Murray was by his side āobservingā as well as recording so it can have nothing to do with drug depdency because Murrays case is that he was unaware of any drug dependency. One more reason why āaddictā is a leap to assumption in these circumstances. Some networks need to make this distinction clear and correct this imbalance. Bottom line: Michael did not kill Michael.

Keep The Faith - Michael Jackson
I think that Michael Jackson had a rare sense, maybe not a sixth sense, maybe itās a 10th or 20th sense. He sensed the rhythm in the human body. Thatās really what he did, Angelou shared some of her fondest memories of Jackson. āWhen I watch Michael Jackson and listen to him at whatever age he is, really, really, I donāt do that moon walk, but I used to,ā she said. She went on to say, āhe spoke for me in his songs and his life. He spoke for me and so Iām grateful on many levels, on many accounts. Iām indebted to him.ā Even year later, he still has an impact. āHe brought people together,ā said Angelou. After his death, Angelou wrote a poem to remember Jackson. Queen Latifah read it at his memorial service last year. Angelou shared it with us. āIn the instant that Michael is gone, we know nothing, no clocks can tell our time,ā she said. Just like her poem, Jacksonās music continues to resonate with so many of his fans. We are missing Michael, but we do know that we had him and we,we are the world.

Happy 80th birthday Elizabeth Taylor |Ā 27 February 1932Ā
āElizabeth Taylor is gorgeous, beautiful, and she still is today, Iām crazy about her.ā
āThis Place Hotelā was a watershed track for Jackson. Written, arranged, and composed entirely by Michael, it revealed his rapidly emerging talent as a songwriter. In contrast to the mostly celebratory tone of Off the Wall, āThis Place Hotelā is a dark, psychological song about regret, revenge, and fear that anticipated later classics like Billie Jean and Dirty Diana. The number opens with a foreboding instrumental prelude, before a piercing scream unleashes the songās menacing Gothic funk. āThe scream was the kind that normally shatters a bad dream,ā Jackson later wrote, ābut our intention was to have the dream only begin, to make the listener wonder whether it was a dream or a reality.ā In the songās narrative, Jacksonās pained voice sings of āfaces staring, glaring, tearing through me.ā he speaks of āyearning,ā of āsinā and āconcealing gloomā. The song also experiments with new sounds. āThis is the first example,ā observes Nelson George, āof a cinematic use of sound effects, horror film motifs, and vocal trickery to convey a sense of danger in his work.ā Jackson was justifiably proud of the songās depth and scope. ā[This place Hotel] was the most ambitious song I had composed,ā he wrote in his 1988 autobiography. Many listeners and critics took note.
